Why is it wrong to write down facts?

Information icon Hello, I'm 121.133.40.84. I noticed that you recently removed content from WJSN without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks.

I know that you are also one of k-pop fan, and I know you are hard to accept the fact that members' withdrawl. But don't turn a blind eye to the facts. Chinese members and two Korean members from WJSN, Luda and Da-won did not renewed the contract and left frome the group. The withdrawal turned out to be true in official statements and numerous news articles. But you recklessly reversed the editing and warned me that I had vandalized the article. I don't understand why you insist that two Korean members didn't leave the group. 121.133.40.84 (talk) 09:24, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

some members of WJSN, a female idol group that marks its 7th anniversary this year, leave the team.
Starship Entertainment said in an official statement on the 3rd, "Recently, eight members of WJSN, Exy, Seol-A, Bona, Soobin, Eunseo, Yeoreum, Dayoung, and Yeon-jung, have been re-signed," adding, "Luda and Da-won have long and in-depth discussions, but unfortunately, they have completed the exclusive contract."
"I would like to express my deep gratitude for the hard work and dedication that Luda and Dawon have shown so far. We respect the choices of Luda and Dawon, and will support and support new activities and the way forward. In addition, the three members of Yuehua Entertainment, Sun Eui, Cheng Xiao, and Mei Ki, who worked with WJSN, will automatically terminate their contracts as WJSN, he said. 121.133.40.84 (talk) 09:42, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

I'm thinking that your edit on RM from BTS was worth while, and I found some new quotes from his 2023 trip to Spain to quote about the scheduled separation for BTS and reunion. Maybe take a look to see if you can improve on the added edit on the RM page. The distinction of the solo careers and the BTS "Phase 2" as RM calls it is newsworthy. This is the article here : [5] ~~~~ ErnestKrause (talk) 17:46, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Hey, can you check the most recent edit I made on the page? I think my wording of the sales record based on the Newsis article might be slightly off, but I'm not 100% sure. I asked Ivana but idt she's around rn. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 20:59, 24 March 2023 (UTC)

Can you direct me to the webpage or site where KBS posts the approvals/rejections for songs for broadcast? I always see tweets of screenshots from it ahead of comebacks but I don't think I've ever seen the actual website myself, except for maybe once a long time ago and I don't remember what the url was. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 21:00, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

Page rename

There is no reason for you to disagree with a page rename which is uncontroversial; consensus is not necessary under WP:BANDDAB - "Use "(group)" when the musical ensemble members do not perform by playing musical instruments, the members are mainly vocalists, and other people perform by playing musical instruments. This includes all non-performing boy bands (e.g. One Direction, BTS, and Wanna One) and girl groups (e.g. Spice Girls, Morning Musume, and Blackpink), for example TLC (group), Red Velvet (group), RD (group), or Natural (group)".

Boy bands and girl groups who do not play their own instruments and are purely vocalists (singers/rappers) and dancers like BTS should be labelled as a "group", not "band". Again, see WP:BANDDAB. Hiddenstranger (talk) 00:57, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

There have been many discussions regarding that whole topic, Some attempts have been made to change the article name from band to group but needed up not being moved. You can refer to this example: [6] Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 05:55, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Third revert without reason

13:23, July 6, 2023 This is the third time you have reverted me by claiming false reasoning. This clearly proves you have a bias against me, and you didnt even revert it, another editor had to fix your error. I am considering filing a report against you for editing with strong bias against me, because this is disrespectful and I want to protect other editors from being mistreated. Gamowebbed (talk) 16:11, 6 July 2023 (UTC)

Do your research. The source you tagged unreliable was SCMP as I told you per WP:RSPSOURCES it's reliable. I didn't know the source quoted Koreaboo that was caught by Ïvana, and she replaced it with better source needed. Everything's been fixed, so I don't see the issue. I'm not going to argue with you on this. You're still a freshly new editor, unlike me and Ïvana. You can't report just because I reverted an incorrect edit. I haven't violated any guidelines. "Random text"

Hello. I was not the editor who originally added the compact TOC, but the FORCETOC at the top was not "random text". Template:Compact TOC tells editors that if a regular table of contents is still desired on an article that uses the template, to put FORCETOC at the top of the article. Thanks. Fifty Fifty

I don’t want to get into an edit war with you, but I would like to know your reason for reverting my edit adding the real names of the members of Fifty Fifty (group). I would think that information should be somewhere in the article, especially since the members do not have individual articles themselves, no? Sinistrality2023 (talk) 02:20, 28 July 2023 (UTC)

The article isn't supposed to be formatted like that. You can go to any Korean group article and see the artists stage names being used. It would be different if they all went by their personal names, but that's not the case. You usually put what name they go by professionally. That's the reason I removed the names in parentheses. None of it can't be used, as fair use. It has to be under a Creative Common license, otherwise it will copyright material. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 02:51, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Dawn Silva

Hello Btspurplegalaxy. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Dawn Silva, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. BangJan1999 22:25, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

I don't really agree. If you look at the article, there is a very lack of sources to support the content. There haven't been any type of improvements, so I think it qualities for deletion. It needs to meet some criteria of WP:SINGER. As I mentioned before, there isn't any reliable sources to back up for nobility for the singer. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 23:51, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Question about Origin (South Korea) of XG (girl group under XGALX)

Hello Btspurplegalaxy. I'm wondering the use of the term "ORIGIN" for the girl group XG is still relevant. I know in the year they debut, we just simply didn't have much information about them, but now we do, I feel we need to start to discuss about the use of the word "origin".

In fact their Japanese Wikipedia page says their "origin" as Japan and now that so much newer information have been released by the label about the group, we all know that the group was actually formed while they were in Japan, even had some performance activities, and some of their songs like Mascara have been already created and have been sung/danced way before they moved to South Korea to prepare for the actual debut. Knowing such, now I feel the group's "origin" should be Japan and the word to describe their activities in South Korea should be either "based, active, or promoting" in Korea. Most legacy media now describes them as a group "FROM" (origin) Japan, promoting in South Korea, which gives a sense of their "origin" than their mere "nationality", just like "Australian girl group from Japan" suggests as if they were raised/trained in Japan despite their actual nationality being Australian.

Also, the entity (their label) being a South Korean company, Avex merely created its subsidiary there (it's just "Avex Korea") only to promote them in Korea, but the members are still the Avex (Japan) signed artists and most of their back office activities still being carried in Japan side (fan club app, official website, and social media site including youtube). Just like Samsung products are considered to be "from" South Korea even if they were being promoted and sold under Samsung USA.

Anyway, even though there's no mention about their pre-debut era in Japan on the page, and I don't think it's necessary (may be later on we can add in the history section), but we should at least recognize the fact that the band was formed while in Japan. Or you think it is the Japanese Wikipedia page that needs to change the origin. What do you think? Or please let me know who I should address this to if you aren't the right person to this discussion. Thank you! Homelele (talk) 06:29, 21 September 2023 (UTC)

To answer your question, the origin would be where the group started from. There needs to be a source of verification of the origins of XG, but unlike the Japanese Wikipedia, there isn't a source to support the origin being Japan. On the English Wikipedia, we have a source to verify their origin. Unless you can find a reliable source stating their origin is somewhere else, then it needs to remain as South Korea. I hope that answers your question. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 06:52, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
I see, yes, thanks for the information. Just make sure that "where the group started" means where they formed, not "debuted", correct? Can the valid source for the information be their official documentary youtube videos? or has to be website?
Also, as I'm not familiar with the Wikipedia's rules at all, I'm wondering if that definition of the word "origin" you just explained applies to all other languages on Wikipedia? Like, the "origin" in English can be different from the Spanish and French usage of the "origin" for the music artists? I just checked all the other pages, there are only 4 out of 11 languages still say the origin as South Korea, and there is one language not mention about at all, the rest (such as Chinese, French and Spanish) says Japan. Thanks again! Homelele (talk) 07:25, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
It's best not to reference YouTube as sources. That would be correct. Origin would be used for all Wikipedia's. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 23:00, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
For further clarification template:Infobox musical artist#origin says that origin parameter is intended to "The town, city etc., from which the group or musician originated (that is, the place where the group was founded, or where the individual performer started their career, should it not match the location of their birth)." The members debuted in South Korea, so it's correct as it stands. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 20:36, 22 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi

I have some questions about Lumpens' page and the creator of the page is inactive. I noticed that you worked a lot to improve the page. can you help me? Estyxxxx (talk) 22:29, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Yes, I can help. What can I help you with? Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 01:36, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
1. Some of the music videos that appear on the official Lumpens website do not appear here, and some of the music videos that appear in the table do not appear on the website. Does this actually mean that both places are not updated?
2. In the last paragraph in "Background" there is a sentence: "2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards Fan Choice Best Music Video for BTS' "Idol" but on the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards page it says that IDOL's music video won the Favorite Music Video category and the TikTok Best category Music Video What is the explanation for this?
3. Are all the awards Lumpens have won listed on the page? If not, why not create a table of nominations and wins? Estyxxxx (talk) 17:47, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Maybe you also know why in the Infobox album template of Face Yourself it says that the labels are Def Jam and Universal, while in the "Release history" table it says that the labels are Def Jam and Virgin? Estyxxxx (talk) 11:15, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
Since it's sourced then those are the labels that need to be used, Def Jam and Virgin. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 17:29, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
If it is a mistake and the label is Virgin and not Universal then it should be changed in two more places on the page.
What about the lumpens questions, do you have an answer or should I ask someone else? Estyxxxx (talk) 00:56, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
If both labels are mentioned in the source, both must be included; otherwise, include only the label mentioned in the source.
  1. The website is outdated; you should seek new sources to back the music videos.
  2. Those are two different awards.
  3. You can compile a list of wins for nominations by referencing: Template:Infobox awards list

Your comments on Lee Ahin article

Respectully While your edits are normally very thoughtful, and I have appreciated them in the past, I do not agree with your premisis your most recent edit to the Lee Ahin article. As you know by know I have been working to improve this draft article for almost two years. I come from the technology industry, although I have no relation to this subject, I did work in the music and fashion industry for many years, and I have studied hundreds of wikipedia articles now about members of many famous groups, and the standard you are trying to apply is too extreme. Look for example at the article on Paul McCartney: there is are separate sections about other bands, including a 1400 charcters plus section about his time in the Beatles, notwithstanding that there are multiple wikipedia articles about the Beatles, and the same thing is true of Wings. While McCartney had a significant solo career, it was his participation in the Beatles that gave him most of his notariety. In the case of Ahin, in her time in Momoland, the group was nominated for 64 major music awards, and won 23, across many countries. One of the reasons that I chose the subject for an article is that Momoland did several world tours, and was the first Kpop group to open up several new national markets, and this subject speaks many languages fluently, and several more conversationally. Mentioning significant events in which she acted as spokesperson, such as addressing Chinese crowds for the band in fluent mandaring, and acting as spokesperson from the group to US media when Momoland music was being pumped by the South Korean governmanent over the DMZ, is significant; her involvement was a force in the band being nominated for 64 music awards. I agree that Momoland is not BTS or the Beatles, but that is not the standard by which all wikipedia music articles should be judged. If you caprisiously eliminate the Momoland section, that detracts from the quality of the article, it makes much less sense to the reader, and unfairly makes the subject appear less notable.

This article is important because of the other wikipedia articles written about Momoland Group members (Nancy McDonnie, Jooe, and Yeonwoo) were not written by native English speakers. I am have also published many articles about related industries in television, media, tech, and sports, and these Korean subjects needs a good English writer to provide at least one easily to understand article that accurate reflects the groups notarity, why the reached their pinacle in 2018, and their impact on the globalization of the music business. They are not BTS but they did have an impact, and that should not be undercut in this article.

I am willing to work with you to satisfy reasonable standards that the article is free of fan bias, and that the mentions of the Momoland in the article about Ahin are concise not surpluflous. I agree it should avoid redudancies with the main Momoland articles, BUT there will inevitably be some redundancy or the article will make no sense and unfairly appear trivialized. I have not used these inter user talk pages much, so please forgive any conventions I might have violated. But please feel free to communicate with me directly, and I will be happy to work with you that we can find consensus and compromise that makes sense, but does not undermine the article. ---KOPS2222

Article about Jisoo

Thank you for letting me know about the edit I had made on Jisoo's article on here. Is it allowed for this info to be placed in a different section of the article? If so, what section would be most appropriate? Tonkarooson (talk) 04:52, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Unfortunately, there isn't a suitable place for it. The names lack significant relevance. Take Jennie, for instance. She incorporates the name, Jennie Ruby Jane, into her professional identity. In contrast, Jisoo opts to simply go by her given name. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 05:01, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Draftifying is not intended as a backdoor route to deletion. Regards. Hitro talk 04:35, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
I did not intend to delete the article. Rather, I relocated it due to my assessment that it was not yet suitable for the main space yet. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 04:43, 6 May 2024 (UTC)

Impact and Influence on Jimin page

Since jimin is not the only Korean celebrity Oli London has mentioned wanting to look like and it's not related in any ways to jimin's impact as an artist unlike the other facts in the section. I think it's not relevant to have it on jimin's page but since you want to keep it then it would be best to modify to reflect the actual information. Oli London has mentioned several Korean celebrities he wanted to look like and as reasons he underwent his procedures. Jimin is the one he mentioned at first but he then mentioned several Korean idols including Hyunjin from stray kids. So I can do the edit instead of deleting it to reflect that. I will add the additional reference and change the wording to mention that jimin was only one of his influence not his sole influence. Thanks.

Edit: I clearly reached out first before making the edit. You did not reply. (unsigned by User:Mokang999)

I see that this is being discussed on Jimin's Talk page, so feel free to comment there. -- Ssilvers (talk) 03:43, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Rihanna

Hi BTSpurplegalaxy, I saw you recently edited Rihanna's page and was wondering if you please could change the genres to match what is sourced in the article which is:

  • R&B
  • pop
  • reggae
  • hip hop
  • dance

?

Many thanks, Justinaintime (talk) 08:59, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Do you have a list of reliable sources I can place for the genres? Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 09:41, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Ignore the sock of @Giubbotto non ortodosso, they only want their own edits, can you please revert and report them? Thanks Justinaintime (talk) 19:30, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
I apologize for misreading your message. Please disregard my previous reply. I can fix it for you. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 09:49, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Please this is clearly a sock puppet of User: MariaJaydHicky, just like User: Shaneyshady who made this same request on the article's talk page. Do not follow their requests DollysOnMyMind (talk) 12:54, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
I saw your message the first time. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 13:00, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Great! Maybe seeing things two times might improve your chances of not disrupting Wikipedia by helping sockpuppets get into protected pages. I'm definitely checking your edits and if anything like this happens a second time, I'm reporting you - I promise you this DollysOnMyMind (talk) 14:52, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Please refrain from approaching my talk page with that attitude. I was simply trying to help someone and was not aware of the entire situation. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 20:18, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

How do your make a second or third Archive??

Hello, Btspurplegalaxy. I would like to ask, how do you make a second archive and third archive? I tried to make a second archive of my talk page but somehow it didn't work, because it totally archived my talk page altogether, including the ones that I did not put into the archive. So, is there a better way than the one I referred to? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Archiving_a_talk_page) NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 12:33, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

I suggest asking @Paper9oll to help you set it up, as I had someone else set mine up. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 12:42, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
@NelsonLee20042020 Would you like the process to be automated or you prefer to manually archive the discussions yourself? Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:18, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Either way is fine. I not sure how automated is done but it might be more convenient, because I admittedly remember the last time I archived my own talk page is two years ago. I appreciate it, thanks. NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 13:32, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

SPI reports

Please file SPI reports under the name of the oldest account. This ensures that all reports for a given case are in one place. While misfiled cases can be fixed, it can be a not insignificant amount of work for the SPI clerks to do so, and fixing your recent reports for MariaJaydHicky was more complicated than most given the case page's extensive editing history. Thank you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 00:00, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Got it, I'll make sure to file SPI reports under the oldest account name from now on. Sorry for the trouble with MariaJaydHicky's case. Thank you. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 03:02, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Hello. If you're going to request your drafts overwrite redirects because you don't want to create content on another editor's redirect, at least put a bit more effort in than this: one sentence, an incomplete chart table that says "Never Let", and a misformatted infobox. If you're such a fan of BTS that you've named your account after them, I thought you would care to show a more substantial claim of a notable song article that you think should be moved into mainspace than this. Ss112 02:36, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Mistakes can occur, but they are minor issues that can be resolved. If I choose to write an article about their songs, I have the right to do so without any problem. I never comment on your habit of constantly redirecting to their songs, do I? Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 02:49, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
Literally where did I say you didn't have the "right" to create an article? I asked if you could put a bit more effort in if you're going to make articles that you then request be moved into mainspace. Read WP:NSONGS. I'm also far from the most prominent redirect creator regarding BTS' and its members' output. Even if you did "comment" on my "habit" of creating redirects for its members' songs, what would you even have to say? Song redirects are perfectly valid if they're mentioned at the target article, end of story. You could also create redirects for these, but you choose not to and instead choose to create draft articles for songs with one line of prose. Ss112 02:53, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
You're bringing up an issue that can be easily corrected. This isn't the first article of songs I've created. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 03:00, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
I didn't say it was the first article you've created. I know it's not; it's just the first I've noticed. New page patrollers also exist on Wikipedia. If they noticed this, they'd probably ask you to do exactly what I'm saying. In fact, they do to others all the time. That's all I'm asking you to do: have more of a substantial claim of notability in prose. Have a good day. Ss112 03:03, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
If any issues arise in the future, I'll handle them. Have a wonderful day! Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 03:06, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Why are my edits in aespa member articles reverted? And which is better for artists who have a stage name - "known professionally as" or "better known by his/her/their stage name" and why? ScarletViolet 💬 📝 12:28, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
