Re: Dota 2 protection status
Ah, I actually wrote a protection comment, but placed it in the wrong field (the protection page has changed quite a bit since I was active). Essentially, I thought I'd leave it unprotected unless another round of persistent vandalism begins; Stradivarius protected it in late May, so it is rather unlikely that group of people are still active. I'm generally disinclined to protect pages indefinitely, it tends to be unnecessary in the vast majority of cases. Has someone started reviewing your article yet? I might have time to do so later this week if you'd like me to take a look. Great work on the article by the way, it's come a long way. =) · Andonic contact 20:57, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Yup, saw that. Everything so far looks pretty good, I don't really care if things are marked as done or not, for the most part I think we're on the same page either way. I should have time to finish the Development section tomorrow. · Andonic contact 22:49, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Dota 2 you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. I'm a community moderator/middleman for two trading sites--if I just ignore them, people get scammed. :/ I'm otherwise much more free, so I should be starting up with the review again any day now, definitely before the weekend ends. Unfounded hostility? Whatever do you mean? RasputinAXP 19:25, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Steam
I've looked over the Steam article and upgraded it to B-class; it looks pretty good and is not far from GA in its current state. I made a few proofing edits as well. Here are some suggestions for shepherding it through GAN if you feel so inclined:
- There are lots of quotation marks. These aren't necessary unless you're using a term that isn't meant to be used that way or quoting someone - for instance, UPlay never needs quotations.
- Try to keep inlines out of the lead and infobox.
- Also, inlines are best used after punctuation.
- Could you offer examples of the kind of commodities that can be traded via the Steam Market?
- For a single sentence that is not particularly contentious, only one reference is needed.
- Try to avoid one-sentence paragraphs.

Steam box image
Is that Steam box image a photo that you specifically took, or is it a modification of one of the press images given out by Valve (which I think it is given what I've seen in the articles that have come up today)? If it is the latter, it is not a free image, and given that the beta machines are due out soon, it can soon be replaced with a free image, so it would have to be removed + deleted. --MASEM (t) 19:34, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- No, it's not an image I took. It's a cropped version of the beta image, so I changed the licensing description. I would actually encourage there to be a replacement image as soon as possible. DarthBotto talk•cont 19:39, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what I figured. As such, that image cannot be hosted at commons and I'm going to need to mark it for deletion (since Valve hasn't licensed it in CC-BY). If you want to re-upload to en.wiki as a non-free, that's okay. You are clearly aware of the non-free issue, and I would not rush to delete it on en.wiki but I will caution others might jump on that due to how soon this might happen. (That said, I'm crossing my fingers as I'm in the candidacy pool and take images should I get one). --MASEM (t) 19:45, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

DarthBotto, I must give you my utmost appreciation for your kind acknowledgement on my usertalk page especially considering we have not always seen eye to eye, we are two individuals with very strong opinions. =) But yea, I would definitely concur with your point that some page protection is definitely in order, especially given the nature of Beyond My Ken's communication. Heh, sorry for going AWOL again... I actually have had the page open for editing in my browser for two weeks, but I'm studying for finals at the moment. I'm transferring universities next year, really need to do well right now for that to work out. My last exam is next Thursday, so I'll probably pick up the slack Friday or Saturday. I definitely bit off more than I could chew by offering to peer review/copyedit Dota 2, and I am very sorry for that--I hope that the end result is sufficiently good to make up for how long it's taking to get there. · Andonic contact 22:05, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Your request at WP:RFP/A
Just wanted to leave a note of praise for your work on the project and an additional note to not be put down by Hasteur's comments there. Sometimes, some editors seem to be abrasive in their words, without intending to be so. Also, I don't think there's any issue with your user name. In all, keep making great articles for the project, and write to me directly when you reach close to or around 50; and I'll grant you the autopatrolled right. If there's anything you need assistance in, feel free to drop by my talk page. Best. Wifione Message 16:29, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your kind words, Wifione- I really appreciate it. I do try to do what's for the betterment and improved quality of the project, which is why words on my account that don't seem to be in good faith are hard to stomach. I'll still look to produce new articles of good quality. You have my praise for saying that you'll grand autopatrolled rights and I would be happy to take you up on your offer. I'll keep it in mind. As for your username! <ahem> You may want to have a short discussion with I_JethroBT who is currently incognito, about acquiring a secondary account with a "human" pseudonym, very useful as a means of pulling the positronic mesh over the eyes of the cyborg wikiPolice, if you know what I mean. :-) Don't worry I'll keep your secret. Thanksfor your work at HD 106906 b. The nomination at ITN is ready to go, but the link to List_of_exoplanet_extremes#Orbit_characteristics in the blurb is problematic because HD 106906 b is not yet listed there. Would you be willing to add the appropriate entry for the planet into the appropriate chart? I don't feel competent myself to do this. Thanks. μηδείς (talk) 21:20, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
- I saw your comment at ITN. The planet at DT Virginis circles a binary system. This one is in a unitary system. Can you please add a listing for this planet to List_of_exoplanet_extremes#Orbit_characteristics as holding the record for a singular star? Changing the blurb without adding the planet to List_of_exoplanet_extremes#Orbit_characteristics will not help the nomination. I can change the blurb. But the planet still needs to be in the chart. I would do it myself, but I would not be sure how to do so accurately. Thanks. μηδείς (talk) 23:24, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Note on HD 106906 b
Thank you for the note regarding this object. Indeed, while I can certainly understand confusion over this object as reported in the media, it is frustrating that users do not understand the difference between news reports and peer reviewed literature, especially for a researcher in the field. I would be helpful to remind users of the difference between peer-reviewed literature and news and the preference for the former as described in WP:SCHOLARSHIP and WP:NEWSORG. I would also note that I did not simply revert to previous versions, but preserved subsequent changes unrelated to the issues at hand, nor have used incendiary language to describe the motives of others (as has been done, amusingly, to me). The most recent revisions attempt to forge a compromise on this issue in good faith, reflecting the most general conservative viewpoint that is faithful to the source material while still inclusive of others points of view.2632cgn (talk) 00:03, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello DarthBotto, and welcome to the 2014 WikiCup! Your submission page can be found here. The competition will begin at midnight tonight (UTC). There have been a few small changes from last year; the rules can be read in full at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring, and the page also includes a summary of changes. One important rule to remember is that only content on which you have completed significant work, and nominated, in 2014 is eligible for points in the competition- the judges will be checking! As ever, this year's competition includes some younger editors. If you are a younger editor, you are certainly welcome, but we have written an advice page at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Advice for younger editors for you. Please do take a look. Any questions should be directed to one of the judges, or left on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will make it to round 2. Good luck! Thanks for your time checking the article. However, I don't understand why this is a quick fail [[1]]. For certain there are a number of issues to deal, but a speedy fail isn't even mentioned in the review itself.Alexikoua (talk) 19:10, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

- Thank you for the review. Indeed further improvements are possible, not to mention that archaeology can provide us with additional info in the future.Alexikoua (talk) 11:39, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Skyrim GA
Thanks for getting a review up so quick! Was not expecting that. Can you close off with an "on hold" tag on the review page and the talk page while I work through the comments? I'll add that I should be able to get it all done pretty quickly. CR4ZE (t) 04:44, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
