Eurovision songs redirected
Hey BabbaQ. As Sims2aholic8 has been redirecting these Eurovision song articles for months now and you have a far better knowledge of and edit more frequently in the topic of Eurovision songs than I do, if you see any that you disagree with, I encourage you to revert them and restore the articles. There are plenty of users outside of those who watch the Eurovision WikiProject page who would argue songs competing at Eurovision are notable for that reason alone and should have an article in and of themselves regardless of anything else they may have achieved. I'm sure there are charting hits from years prior to what I noticed and reverted, so if you have the time or come across them naturally I say go ahead and restore them. Ss112 10:19, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
- Also, all of them have been de-linked on their respective Eurovision pages. I will certainly take a look. But it is literally months of work to go through, incredible.BabbaQ (talk) 10:23, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
- I am concerned that a lot of valuable work is gone. This is unacceptable in my opinion.BabbaQ (talk) 10:28, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
- Ss112, just for example in the article Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest, several songs has been de-linked which have charted in Sweden. And all songs has been de-linked on all related articles. It will take an incredible amount of time to undo this mess.BabbaQ (talk) 10:40, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, I saw that. It is unfortunate, but that's what happens when editors who prefer deleting instead of improving (the articles they redirect) work for months at something. I will say that it appears the links have primarily been removed from "[country] in the Eurovision Song Contest" and "[country] in the Eurovision Song Contest [year]" articles and not elsewhere. It's also annoying that many have now had their cover artworks deleted. You may be able to work country by country and restore the ones you think are notable, starting with Sweden. I am sure plenty of editors, including admins, will disagree with this but many aren't aware of this or don't keep track of Eurovision song articles. Most of them wouldn't stand a chance of actually being deleted if taken to AfD for being Eurovision entrants and their historical value even leaving aside charting and popularity. If you restore any of the articles and they are reverted by anybody, I would inform an admin and warn them against edit warring—and of course, tell them to take it to AfD which is where every admin I've spoken to will warn them to go. Ss112 12:43, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Eurovision song stubs
Hey, I wanted to ask a question: do we know what will happen to all the stubs that have been redirected? Years of valuable work is gone, and that's made me a bit concerned. Is competing in Eurovision in itself makes the article notable? Or should we individually assess each article by itself? You seem to know way more about this than me, so I'd thought I'd ask you. Thank you! Nascar9919 (talk) 20:13, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
- Nascar9919 Yes, I know. Me and Ss112 have already restored several articles. The songs that have charted/peaked on one or more national music charts are notable. So if you find some or are worried about specific articles feel free to restore them back. We have also made it clear to the person redirecting articles in mass-redirects to stop. --BabbaQ (talk) 11:05, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
- All right, will do. Thanks. Nascar9919 (talk) 19:55, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Nascar9919: It's not that much work to undo this (when appropriate) and for some it's just one click. Nascar, you're doing a great job expanding some of these when you restore them! In general, please use some constraint if they are stubs in dire condition (one line of text for example). The outcome of the AfDs was clear that it's not a general "all must remain" but that each needs to be assessed as to whether they are appropriate as stand alone articles vs notable subjects included in other articles. Some of the latter I think may need to be revisited. Please make sure both of you are checking on the talk page to fix assessment information. The automated change list alerted me to both of your edits, so I just want to make sure you both know that there's one additional step when un-redirecting. Happy editing! Grk1011 (talk) 15:01, 3 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Grk1011: Thank you! I'm trying my best to see which ones can be expanded. I can see that a lot, and I mean A LOT needs fixing (especially references, they're an absolute mess). Expanding for newer songs (probably 2000-present) is easier considering the amount of information on the countries page, along with information stored on websites like the Wayback Machine or other archiving websites. For older songs, I believe maybe something like a newspaper archive could help us find a lot of information on those type of songs. I hope to see these most of these pages have an article again, and I hope expanding it really does make it better than it was before. Thanks for letting me know! Nascar9919 (talk) 17:53, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

- I am no expert. But your article is an ”official article” now. And will likely get ”patrolled” status in a day or two. It truly does not matter. I have never concerned myself about it. BabbaQ (talk) 12:51, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Melodifestivalen 2022
Thank you for creating Melodifestivalen 2022 page. This is admirable work as you know how much I like Melodifestivalen and follow it every year. I read with great interest that Alvaro Estrella will be in 2022. I just loved his song "Baila Baila" in 2021 which is now a zumba sensation worldwide with the Zumba people. There are dozens of them from all over. Here I present an adorable fitness dance version with a revamped version of the song by Filipino zumba project TML Crew by one of its many crews here the Crew Jay Laurente. I dedicate it for your excellent work and recent additions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D05vrSJNcCg Enjoy and many thanks. werldwayd (talk) 03:54, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
- Oh thank you! Much obliged! Yes, I can not wait for Melodifestivalen 2022. And Alvaro’s song is great, interesting facts you gave me as well. Was not aware. BabbaQ (talk) 08:30, 2 November 2021 (UTC)

Per Pålsson - some inaccuracies
Hello, some chronology issues have been spotted in the article about Per Pålsson. For example, if he was born in 1828, then this sentence must be incorrect: "The first time Per Pålsson was convicted for a crime was in 1849, he was at that time 18 years old". So, 1828 + 18 = 1846, not 1849. Can you double check it?
The other thing: if murder of Hanna Pålsdotter took place in 1868, then Per Pålsson couldn't be convicted of it in 1953. Also, is "Hanna" a female name? If so, then "He died" isn't right neither.

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:23, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Marie Serneholt
You just thanked me for creating the article Marie Serneholt back in 2004 - right after I started on wikipedia. What's funny is that I have no memory of creating that article, and know nothing whatsoever about her or that band, so I don't know why I would have created such a stub.
Back then, wikipedia had very few articles and it was easy to create new ones so I guess I just stumbled across something somewhere and made it. Very strange!

In case you didn't see my edit summary on Tribe Friday
When you make articles for these Swedish artists who participate in Melodifestivalen and beyond, you usually copy the same "Singles" section wikitable to each of them, but you do not need to copy rowspan="2" {{n/a|Non-album singles}}, because there's usually only one single listed in the table, and there's also no need to open a new row (with |- ) at the end of the table. Wikitables do not need |- to be the last thing in them before the end ( |} ) at all. Just copy the {{n/a|Non-album single}} without a rowspan and end the table after it. That's all. WikiCup 2022 March newsletter
And so ends the first round of the WikiCup. Last year anyone who scored more than zero points moved on to Round 2, but this was not the case this year, and a score of 13 or more was required to proceed. The top scorers in Round 1 were:
- Epicgenius, a finalist last year, who led the field with 1906 points, gained from 32 GAs and 19 DYKs, all on the topic of New York buildings.
- AryKun, new to the contest, was second with 1588 points, having achieved 2 FAs, 11 GAs and various other submissions, mostly on the subject of birds.
- Bloom6132, a WikiCup veteran, was in third place with 682 points, garnered from 51 In the news items and several DYKs.
- GhostRiver was close behind with 679 points, gained from achieving 12 GAs, mostly on ice hockey players, and 35 GARs.
- Kavyansh.Singh was in fifth place with 551 points, with an FA, a FL, and many reviews.
- SounderBruce was next with 454 points, gained from an FA and various other submissions, mostly on United States highways.
- Ktin, another WikiCup veteran, was in seventh place with 412 points, mostly gained from In the news items.
These contestants, like all the others who qualified for Round 2, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews of a large number of good articles as the contest ran concurrently with a GAN backlog drive. Well done all! To qualify for Round 3, contestants will need to finish Round 2 among the top thirty-two participants.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Anything that should have been claimed for in Round 1 is no longer eligible for points. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.
Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. I am facing problems now that I never new about
I have gotten into trouble for cutting and pasting my votes at AfDs, which I never knew was against the rules and have been reported to an ANI. I may even need to retire sometime in the future since I might be nearing my last warning. I just can't seem to avoid getting in trouble. If I do retire I may return at a later date, but am really worried right now that I am nearing a complete block. How is everything with you? Davidgoodheart (talk) 01:58, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

I don’t know if that editor have given you the OK to edit his talk page. But just reminding you that people are basically looking for a reason to block you indefinitely right now. Editing of others comments at talk pages are usually not accepted by most editors. Do not give them a reason to do so for some minor pointless edit like that.
