Orphaned non-free media (Image:SunTec-Logo.png)
The image that you are talking about is not used for the article that it was intended for. It is not removed from any article, by any other person, citing any reasons. I wanted a "JPG" format image to be used as the logo for the company mentioned in the article SunTec. This was in the "PNG" format. When I got a "JPG" image, I uploaded that image instead. You may please delete the image from wiki (Image:SunTec-Logo.png). Sorry for the inconvenience caused. -- Sreejith Kumar (talk) 08:40, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

I think that the system is going crazy. I don't know what I can do, if I cannot upload a file to discuss the design of a logo in the Graphics lab page Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Image workshop. Puget Systems Logo and Puget Systems Submerged
These images are being used in a draft article in my user space, which will hopefully be moved to article space soon. Is there a way to prevent them from being deleted until then? Or should I just let them go and re-upload them once the article hits main space? Fire67 (talk) 16:38, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Your bot placed the di-orphaned fair use template in both these images, claiming that the images aren't used in any article. Userspace and sandboxes
I created 3 pages in my sandbox for testing and demonstration purposes and added an image in each of them, taken from WP articles. The only change I made to them was resizing, so that they could fit into an infobox. One of these images was detected by this bot (but not the other two) and received the checked flag warning, about one day later (but noticed it only today). I cannot understand why, my understanding having been:
- Since the images are in published articles where they do not carry the same warning, I assumed their status was clear.
- Since I copied them into my sandbox, which is not intended for publication outside a few interested editors, I'd consider that this is fair use and should not be seen as copyright infringement. I think this bot should actually be rather lenient about sandboxes and if there is a reason why non-free images should be banned from testing beds, it should at least allow more time for testing, e.g. 2-4 weeks - what is deemed a reasonable time to gain consensus!
- I could not figure out why one of these images was flagged and the other two were not.
Thank you for helping. Clpda (talk) 22:11, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- The bot only removes non-free images, the other two images that were not removed are free and can be used in any fashion. You can read more about the non-free image policy at WP:NFCC. BJTalk 22:34, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

- I think I ran into the same or a similar problem... I'm putting together a page (for Desert Research Institute), but since it's still being built (and I'm a n00b) I'm building it in a sandbox. I uploaded a logo for the place and put that on the sandbox page, but it got nailed by this bot. For God's sake, wait a few minutes!
Thanks for uploading Image:Jonny Vang.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:17, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Images for deletion
Hi,
(I am reproducing this message from User talk:Bjweeks because I have not yet received a response there or at my talk page.)
Your bot recently tagged several images I uploaded for deletion (see my talk page for a full list). Several of these images were recently used in the Gunnerkrigg Court article but have been commented out for now (they are images of characters in the comic, and for the moment I have commented those characters out of the article because I decided they were not "major" enough for inclusion); I was planning on keeping the images there for future use, as the article is undergoing frequent updates and the plot of the comic (as well as different interpretations from different Wikipedia editors) may cause some of the images to be used again at short notice. Would this be reason to keep the images on Wikipedia? (I'm not challenging your judgment, I'm just asking, because I am relatively unfamiliar still with Wikipedia image and fair use guidelines.) Thanks, Politizer (talk) 05:54, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

BJBot = vandal
This bot has been vandalizing my user page, by repeatedly deleting an image that belongs to me (and for which I explicitly granted unlimited usage).
The very same image appears in another Wikipedia page (as my contribution -- which is still there!), but when I also place it on my user page, this "bot" deletes it. I restored my image, but the 'bot again deleted it (altho the published image in Wikipedia was NOT deleted).
This 'bot is defective, and should be disabled until fixed (or retired).
I have decide to restore the image (and to add a dozen more copies of it) to my "user" page. If these are again deleted, I shall endeavor to create a bot to restores anything on Wikipedia that is erroneously deletd by this 'bot. Let the 'bot wars begin!
(Or maybe I'll stop bothering to contribute, since I have better things to do with my time than fight erroneous deletions by vandalbots like this one!)

Regarding Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Image workshop
Hi there, when a requester posts a non-free image for cleanup, vectorization, ect. they don't always read the How-to and end up posting the direct image onto the page. ie instead of :Image:Copyrighted.jpg BJBot replaces with the copyright notice image. This is very unhelpful as it sometimes makes it impossible for a graphist to know what image was posted without going back (sometimes through 100s of edits) into the history to find the image. It would be of much greater help if BJBot could replace with :Image:Copyrighted.jpg so graphists still know which image is in need of repair. I know it's possible, just wondering if you'd be so kind to implement it? §hep • ¡Talk to me! 02:08, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Quick off the mark
Given that the enforcement policy states images will be deleted 48 hours after uploading if there's no FUR, why was Image:DoD Copyright Fax.JPG deleted barely 12 hours after upload? Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 03:43, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- It hasn't been deleted, merely tagged to be deleted in 48 hours if no FUR is added. BJTalk 04:31, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- My error, I read watchlist too quickly, however it was deleted from the sandbox page where I had it - I will be deleting it myself anyway shortly, it's just to show another editor something. Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 07:32, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Request not to be informed of pending image deletions
My user page is filling up with notifications of imminent image deletions, none of which I contest or care about. Can the deletion process be accomplished without the bother of informing me? I'd be very grateful. Thanks--Hugh Manatee (talk) 16:47, 2 October 2008 (UTC).

Stop removing images
Why the hell did you remove the image on User:Æåm Fætsøn/Archives and Drafts/Microsoft Office 2003 ? First, you're invading my privacy, because you did that on a subpage of a subpage of a user page, and second, you're ruining a draft of a page that I was going to upload. Well hard lick, you clunky twisted dumb metal turd, 'cause I added the image back and uploaded it with my article.
Will someone please ban or block this rogue bot? Æåm Fætsøn (talk) 08:34, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Bot Error
This bot is currently malfunctioning: it states that the images Image:LTSPlogo.gif, Image:LTSSlogo.gif, Image:LutherSeminarylogo.GIF, and Image:LSTClogo.gif are orphaned images. However, all currently are being used in articles. Please correct the bot to ensure it does not tag images which are used by an article as orphaned. -- jackturner3 (talk) 17:36, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- All those images are in fact orphans. BJTalk 17:49, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
2007 FIS Nordic WSC.gif image
Since the .gif image used for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 has been replaced by a .png, I don't have a problem with it though I think it would have gone better if it were speedy. Chris (talk) 21:10, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Another bot is doing GIF -> PNG conversions. BJTalk 01:19, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Put speedy delete user on it and .gif was deleted. Chris (talk) 02:44, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Talkpage spam
Thank you for the 122 messages you left on my talkpage this morning. Is this not a bit excessive just to tell me that all of the football logos I uploaded in 2006 & 2007 have now been changed to PNG files? EP 16:27, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Fixed, it should no longer notify the uploader when a PNG version available template is on the image. BJTalk 17:45, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for your polite reply, It makes a pleasant change from the dismissive rudeness of another bot operator I crossed paths with a while back, regards EP 18:12, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Trademarked images
Regarding this edit, are non-copyrighted, trademarked images considered non-free? From what I read at WP:Logos and WP:Trademarks, they are not and the only restriction is that they cannot be used commerically. If I am incorrect, please point me to the Wikipedia policy stating that non-copyrighted, trademarked images are considered non-free (i.e., cannot be used in userspace and require FURs). Otherwise, please modify the bot to prevent it from removing such images. Thanks! →Wordbuilder (talk) 14:04, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- The bot follows the non-free categories, this discussion would be better suited for the village pump. BJTalk 17:07, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. →Wordbuilder (talk) 19:00, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, just remove the NFCC FUR template. BJTalk 21:40, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. →Wordbuilder (talk) 19:00, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Noting replacement image
Regarding GIF images superseded by PNGs, the bot wasn't providing a replacement parameter when tagging superseded images. Could something be done to address this?--Paul_012 (talk) 13:56, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- My bot isn't the one doing the replacements. I figure I could have it copy the replacement name from the PNG replaced template but I don't see any real purpose to that. BJTalk 17:28, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- There's the small navigational benefit when someone might wonder why an image became orphaned, since the PNG available message may be buried down the page, but you're probably right; doesn't seem worth the effort. Thanks anyway. --Paul_012 (talk) 18:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Delayed orphan image suggestion
Why doesn't the bot wait a couple minutes (so the user can add it back up as a former logo) so I don't get spam from BJBot? Ellomate (talk) 19:43, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- The bot only runs once a day. BJTalk 19:52, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
GBC Logo
The orphaned .gif can be deleted. The logo is a television station logo so is not public domain, however its use on wikipedia is authorised by the webmaster of gbc.gi. If there are any additions that need to be made to clarify that, let me know as its me. --Gibnews (talk) 08:27, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
RE:Orphaned non-free media (Image:Thevar Magan screenshot.jpg)
Thanks for your communication. Image is no longer an orphan. Bharathprime (talk) 10:00, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Ashura Blaster
Thanks for informing me about my orphaned image for Ashura Blaster. The page was vandalised which explains the image becoming orphaned so I undid the edit and now it's back to normal. Raphie (talk) 10:44, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
User:GreyMatterEchoUKfan
Please do not edit my page. It is considered as vandalism. Thanks: GreyMatterEchoUKfan (talk) 12:21, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- No, no it isn't. BJTalk 16:21, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ghafurov 50somoni.jpg)
Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. Image:Ghafurov 50somoni.jpg was originally intended for the article Bobojon Ghafurov. However, it has since been replaced with a better copy Image:Ghafurov 50somoni cropped.jpg and the original orphaned Image:Ghafurov 50somoni.jpg can be safely deleted now. Unfortunately, I do not know how to delete images. Could you do it, please? Thanks again. --Zlerman (talk) 06:54, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Removal of Images
Hi, your bot removed all the images from a gallery on my page. I had intended it to be a spot to display all of the images I had uploaded, but as I have come to understand, that does not follow Wikipedia non-free image protocol. Is there any way to still display these images (as it is only on my userpage)? Thanks! DARTH PANDAtalk 03:37, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- You can link to the images but no, you can't display them. BJTalk 03:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- So in essence, I cannot display a gallery, but I can display links. DARTH PANDAtalk 18:11, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Image:History of Bonzos low res.jpg
You were remarkably quick in finding this was orphaned! The article The History of the Bonzos was vandalised on October 13, removing the infobox with the image and adding some nonsense, and you listed the image for speedy deletion on 14th! It is just as well I am not on holiday, or I would have had to upload it all again. Anyway, the image and infobox are now restored, and I hope you will take no further action. Patche99z (talk) 20:57, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
removed images
The bot removed two images from User:Bubba73/Sandbox/Rules of chess. This is a sandbox version of Rules of chess that we are working on that is currently under GA review. I would appreciate it if you would not tamper with a file like this. Bubba73 (talk), 03:27, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Ummmm.....I didn't upload it. I just reverted it. SAVIOR_SELF.777 02:17, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
McBurney School Logo
It's been replaced with a .png image, so it can be deleted.

Please explain
Could you please explain the "Read this first" notice in plain English? What does "revert the edit" mean? Do you mean to press the undo key in the history? And what if the bot made no edit to the image page? As far as I can remember, all I saw for the impending removal of my image for an article regarding a music album was the impending removal notice in my talk page. Since the article the image was used in had been vandalised, there was no direct link from the image to that article anyway. Patche99z (talk) 14:33, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, undo is a form of reverting. If the bot hasn't made an edit it didn't tag the image. In this case a bot already removed the the tag.[2] BJTalk 17:03, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
