New York City Cops (Song)

Hello, the article I created and you had edited New York City Cops was reversed because it is a B side of a Single Hard to Explain and not a Single in itself. There are many B-side songs from a similar single and even more prominently treated as such, I suggest you look to benefit from future editions Yellow Ledbetter, Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town, Drain You, however there is the possibility of being a promotional Single since the name of the featured song appears on the Australian cover, in this case it is necessary to do a larger search before posting as one, in this case I indicate that you see articles like I Have Questions, Oh My God, Do the Evolution, Arabella, Aneurysm. An example of a promotional single from Strokes that still needs a page is Machu Picchu. I tried to make the most of the information that you put on that page and thank you for your contribution. First, I would appreciate it if you ditched the condescending tone. I know very well what I'm doing as someone who has edited song articles countless times and even turned some into GAs. Second, "Hard to Explain" / "New York City Cops" is a double A-side single. The latter is not a standard B-side, like the ones in those articles you linked. None of those were released in the same manner as this single, just as A/B releases. This single here is an A/AA release. Even when you check the official UK charts website for the chart position of the single, it lists both song titles, and they only do this with double A-side singles. I suggest you look at the articles for Something (Beatles song) and Come Together. Both songs were released jointly as a double A-side single, yet both use the infobox for singles. The case here is exactly same. Knowing how devoted (and strict) Wikipedia editors have been with Beatles articles, it's hard to argue with that. Aria1561 (talk) 02:32, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Really, condescending tone? Did you buy Wikipedia or what? I would appreciate it if you had the minimum humble to recognize that everyone here has freedom of expression and whether you like it or not you do not own any page and edit with other people. Do you really believe that in a band the size of The Strokes has a worldwide single that has never been recognized for twenty years, save yourself from these claims, look for appropriate references that this was a universal single with AA side and not a promotional single (as in UK and Australia) show any reference that proves the opposite, or it was a shame to leave here making statements in this space without any reference. It is not because you have edited music articles over and over again that it means that you can go around making non-concise statements. I'm not asking your personal opinion on whether it was an AA single I need you to prove WP:IMPARTIAL, WP:BALANCE, tell me why Bilboard, Irish Singles Chart, Sverigetopplistan doesn't recognize it as an AA double single, it is not recognized even in the band's native country. In my native country, Brazil, Last Nite was sold with a Hard To Explain cover by RCA, and the single Hard To Explain simply doesn't exist because it was not released, I ask you if it would be common sense if I exchanged a cover for a song like this on page in english here because of personal tastes, what could be done is to add this additional information and not impose. Hard To Explain has eight other languages ​​on Wikipedia that state that this Single contains a B track and with good references because in these countries there is a unique name of Hard To Explain, you also want to tamper with information in other languages ​​of other countries because of a single that never existed, I hope you have enough time for that, now I really lacked an editor wanting to go over twenty years of editing other people without a proper reference. Billboard does not recognize it because it was never released as a single in the United States; it only received radio play there. You can tell just by looking at the date when it entered the charts (which was in 2002, a whole year after its release). It also does not matter if it is not listed as such in Ireland and Sweden. The non-UK Europe release and Australian CD were both double A-side singles. The BBC, NME, and Contact Music all call the single a double A-side as well. Regional exclusive releases are very much a thing. Even if it was released as a double A-side in just a specific country or region, it's still sufficient enough for "New York City Cops" to receive a single infobox. I'm giving you evidence here, but if you choose not to listen still, I'll happily go ahead and create that "unnecessary discussion" on a talk page elsewhere for more opinions.

Oh yeah, and that "Last Nite" single you're talking about? It's a promo CD. Those aren't "sold", they're used privately for specific reasons. All it takes is a little research. Aria1561 (talk) 15:15, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Well, if you feel like using a song and editing as a single from a band like The Strokes on a page that didn't exist this year and was mentioned as a B-side and it would be their worst single commercially due to the context in which launched it would be nice to actually create a discussion page. It would be very relevant to discuss this in the community about a page that only has two active editors, interestingly all other singles from The Strokes with the exception of recent ones have had a much larger number of contributions in these twenty years.

I am grateful that you have done a convincing research and with good references about the Single being released as double AA, this is what I expect from an editor like you, but it is only referring to the United Kingdom. What I don't want you to do is obstruct the information by just mentioning that as a Single where in many countries it was just released as a B track. If you think it is so necessary I suggest that this page can have two infoboxes one above the music as it was released in the United States of America mentioning only as track B and another Infobox below with the information of a single released in the United Kingdom, there you can also post information about that release in other regions as long as you have appropriate references. I think I am putting myself in your place, because I know you have great intentions with this page, I would support you in this case myself. Yes, you can collaborate and avoid unnecessary discussions.

So you want to tell me that this Single from Last Nite was never sold too, I have the physical version of it. And surprise it also contains numerous pages selling a physical version in a retail store of used materials in Brazil, Mercado Livre, it is common to find this Single in abundance on resale sites. Don't you find a lot of knowledge for your little research? At the very least I would say it is interesting and a beautiful research.

Just to end this issue, a single created as a promotional one does involve other commercial issues as you said, however the Artist and the record company that created it has total freedom of sale, it is the case of Arabella that I suggested that you read, because this single it even has a certificate of international sales. I don't understand the difficulty of assimilating New York City Cops to a promotional Single since it was only released in a few specific regions. I hope you got why a Promo like Last Nite was sold in Brazil now.

That is not a valid reason to get rid of the redirect. It's rather common to see album tracks, or even promotional singles like this one, not notable enough to have their own article be automatically redirected to their corresponding album article, regardless of whether or not it has any other disambiguation. Delta Kream

I only just noticed that you nominated Delta Kream for a DYK in April. I don't particularly care about the nomination, but I do take issue with the wording "Created by Ss112 (talk) and Aria1561 (talk)". You didn't create the article whatsoever. Adding 2,000 bytes to an article five days after its creation isn't "creating" an article. No doubt, it's expanding it when it was 4.6 KB, but that's misleading attribution. AFAIK, DYK nominations don't require someone to be the creator of an article to nominate it—in future, if this concerns an article I have made before you, please don't try and take credit for doing something you did not do. @Ss112: My attempt was not to "take credit for something I didn't do", there's not really another option besides "new article", when I was making the DYK nomination, that was appropriate for the article; it wasn't converted from a redirect, 5x expanded, etc, so what else am I supposed to put? Plus, I felt it was right for me to attribute myself alongside you as I added a whole new section that then made the article eligible for a DYK hook in terms of prose size. You, by yourself, did not make it eligible for DYK before I contributed (and my contrib. wasn't just a sentence or two either), therefore both of us deserve the credit for making it eligible for DYK. I was not trying to take credit for creating the article, that does not make any sense at all. I feel your concern about this is rather unnecessary. Aria1561 (talk) 19:07, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Did I at all try to minimise your contribution to the article? No. I said you added 2,000 bytes. Of course that's significant. I also was not trying to say that I "helped" make it eligible for DYK. I don't care at all about DYKs or QPQ nonsense of the like on Wikipedia. My concern was with the wording.
