[edit]- Thank you! Aoba47 (talk) 00:27, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- Congratulations! And thank you today for Head over Heels (U.S. TV series), introduced (in 2018): "... about an American television sitcom created by Jeff Franklin which aired on United Paramount Network (UPN) from August 26 to October 28, 1997. The series revolves around two brothers (played by Peter Dobson and Mitchell Whitfield, respectively), who own the Head Over Heels video dating agency based in Miami Beach, Florida. The episodes include their employees, played by Eva LaRue, Patrick Bristow, and Cindy Ambuehl. Initially cast as the main characters' mother, Connie Stevens was removed from Head Over Heels after its pilot episode was retooled. With its inclusion of the bisexual Ian, Head Over Heels was one of 30 programs to feature a gay, lesbian or bisexual character that season. Response to the series was primarily negative, with its humor and characters criticized. It was the lowest-performing series tracked by Nielsen Holdings for the 1997–1998 television season. It could be said that neither critics nor audiences were head over heels about this television program. This is my eighth FAC on a television show article"! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:24, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

GA nominations
[edit]How are you, Aoba47? I saw you reviewed Alejandro's FAC. So, I've recently nominated two Gaga's articles for GA (Born This Way and One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga) and I'd like to know if you have time to review them. Thank you! - @GagaNutella: Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to review either of the GANs, but best of luck with them! Aoba47 (talk) 01:38, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- It's ok. Thank you anyway. GagaNutellatalk 15:27, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

Question...
[edit]Hi, Aoba47! Apologies for disturbing you but I just wanted to ask a question... So... I want to get Vivien Lyra Blair to FA-status... but it's a really short article (like really, really short); however, that's all the information I can find related to Blair. I'm not really sure if that would meet the comprehensive criteria for an FA, and I just wanted to ask your opinion on whether it has a shot at being an FA. I'm not asking for a full review or anything, but just whether it really has a chance in hell at getting to FA status based on its current length. Thanks! Pamzeis (talk) 03:34, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Pamzeis: Thank you for your message. There's no need to apologize. I do not think there would be an issue with comprehension or length, but there might be an issue with Blair still being in the very early stages of her career.
- I only bring this up because the article will very likely look completely years down the line if/when career continues. This is not a particularly unique situation. I'd imagine that featured articles for individuals like Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift will look significantly different from the versions brought to the FAC as their careers are still active. I only hesitate with this one because again Blair is still in the very early stages of her career so I can see that being a potential sticking point against a FAC.
- With all that being said, I would reach out to other FAC editors about this as I think it would be best to get as many different opinions as possible. I would actually recommend posting a message about this on the FAC talk page as that would seem like the best venue to get as many opinions as possible. I fully admit that I could be wrong in my opinion about the article and that's why I'd encourage getting other people's opinions. Aoba47 (talk) 16:00, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
TFA nomination
[edit]Hi there, if you would like I Need You (Paris Hilton song) to be considered for TFA in February, you need to think about nominating it. Regards. Gog the Mild (talk) 16:32, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Gog the Mild: Thank you for the notification. I will write up a blurb today and post it on the TFA requests when possible. It appears that only TFAs up to February 9 are being considered while I would want the article featured on the main page on Valentine's Day. Aoba47 (talk) 16:35, 11 December 2022 (UTC)
Leah LaBelle scheduled for TFA
[edit]This is to let you know that the Leah LaBelle article has been scheduled as today's featured article for January 31, 2023. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page blurb, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 31, 2023, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so. If you wish to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article, you can do so at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/January 2023.
I suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:14, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

FAC request
[edit]Hey there Aoba! Happy holidays! I was wondering if you would be able to leave some comments at my recent FAC I nominated earlier this month. I'd love to do the same for one of yours in the current or future. If not it's all good. Hope all is well :-) – zmbro (talk) (cont) 22:35, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Zmbro: Thank you for the message. Happy Holidays to you as well! I would be more than happy to review your FAC. I am already working on a separate FAC review, but I will try my best to get to your FAC over the weekend. If possible, I would greatly appreciate any feedback on my current FAC, but I completely understand if you do not have the time or interest. I look forward to helping you with your FAC in the near future! Aoba47 (talk) 00:00, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

[edit]I feel like you were almost right, but the correct course of action was a move, not a replication and redirect. The correct way would preserve the history. I recommend you delete the new one and then rename the old one. CT55555(talk) 05:22, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
- Since Aoba47 doesn't have the permissions to carry out the move, I've done so (without expressing any opinion on the merits of the move). -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 05:26, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

- Just wanted to add, apologies if my comment came off as rather... bureaucratic. Sometimes as an adminstrator I feel forced into that kind of syntax because the moment I don't make the distinction between "I'm doing this as an admin as a technical action" and "I'm doing this as a content editor because I think it's the correct action, and happen to have the tools to do so because I'm an admin", confusion tends to arise. But I get that it can seem a bit aloof. Glad all has turned out well here.

Happy $relevantHoliday. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 21:49, 24 December 2022 (UTC)- Thank you for the very kind comments. I should be the one apologizing because you did everything correctly. I can completely understand and as an adminstrator, it is important to be both clear and concise with issues like this one. I made a very silly mistake, and I will be more cautitious and aware about in the future. I will also be better about stepping away from the computer because reacting right away at something is rarely ever good and it is important to not project negative intention on to something where it does not exist. I hope you have a Happy Holidays yourself and I am glad that everyone has been so kind regarding this. Aoba47 (talk) 22:45, 24 December 2022 (UTC)

Thank you today for Leah LaBelle, "about an American singer who first rose to prominence as a finalist on American Idol's third season. Hi
[edit]Good to see you still here Aoba. Hope you're doing well (I see you are on a short wikibreak. Hope you get all the rest you can.). I'll be checking in on Wikipedia from time to time. Will be back to active editing in a short while. — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 09:11, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Ssven2: Thank you for the message. I am always glad to hear from you. I am taking a short wikibreak to focus on off-Wiki projects and to ideally work on my time management skills so I could be better at balancing it all. I keep saying I will work on that so hopefully this time is the charm. I will also be checking in on Wikipedia from time to time, mostly to keep an eye on articles and lists in my watchlist. Do you have any ideas on what you would like to work on here in the future? Aoba47 (talk) 17:23, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'll focus again on film articles as usual but will branch out more into video games and pro wrestling articles as well (Particularly Pay-per-view events). Will begin once I come back full time. What are the GAs and FAs you made recently may I ask? — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 08:51, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Ssven2: I am looking forward to seeing your work. Let me know if you ever need someone to review a GAN or a FAC. Not in the immediate future of course as I will likely be on a wikibreak for the rest of the month. My most recent FA was a Spanish-language extended play (Manos Arriba), and my FAs in 2022 were mostly music articles ("No Panties", "Laundromat" (song), "Mindful" (song), and "I Need You" (Paris Hilton song)) and some television articles (Shannen Says and The Random Years).
- I have been more focused on FACs lately to be honest. I have done some GANs, but most of my work lately has been going back to articles I've already brought up to GA status and reworking them for FACs. I am honestly not sure what I'd work on next. Every time I say I'll do something, I always go in a different direction. I believe last year I said I'd take a break from working on music articles and that clearly did not happen lol. [edit]my daily stories |
Thank you today - the best day for it - for I Need You (Paris Hilton song), introduced: "Did you know that Paris Hilton released a doo-wop song as a Valentine's Day present for her fiancé Chris Zylka? Its lyrics are filled with holiday-related puns, such as “merry in your Christmas”, “the bunny in your Easter”, and “your forever Valentine”. The music video features Hilton wearing lingerie, posing in a bed covered with red rose petals, and popping out of a cake among other activities. This song is so unapologetically and unironically corny that I can't help but love it."!
My contrib for the day is Alte Liebe (old love), a book written by a couple, alternating chapters. There's a yt of them reading an excerpt to an audience, also alternating. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:21, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi Aoba ... just dropping by to remind you that I'm available to help with list reviewing if you ever need help, and to ask for a review for List of early-diverging flowering plant families ... I need one more review before I can put up my next nomination. If you're busy, don't worry about it. Hope all is well. (Even though these are science-y, they're not too hard ... you can see previous lists and reviews in the "See also" section ... anything that doesn't end in "ales" will be a stand-alone list.) - Dank (push to talk) 14:29, 25 March 2023 (UTC)

- At List of Top Selling Rhythm & Blues Singles number ones of 1965, I'm not criticizing, I'm just worrying about the future ... actually, it's not the future any more, now it's the present. I wasn't saying that you got the rule wrong. (Actually, I don't know precisely what the rule is.) I'm saying that, if the world keeps changing quickly (for instance, if a lot of publishers, all at once, freak out about large language models and decide to change their terms of service), and we keep insisting that Wikipedians need to make manual edits to reflect all these rapid changes in real time, and we penalize them if they don't, then eventually Wikipedians are going to give up. We can't win a war against the machines. I don't have any solution for this (other than, let's all chill out and wait and see how this all plays out). - Dank (push to talk) 19:48, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
- No worries. Apologies if my message came across as harsh or rude. I completely understand your sentiment. Things like ChatGPT freak me out and make me scared for the future. I think it is important to have these types of open conversations on Wikipedia. My perspective was more so that if a website requires a subscription to view the full page, then the citation should reflect that. I could see how that would be incredibly annoying to keep up with as so many different sites added on subscriptions and unless you are actively keeping up with it all, it is really easy to miss. I would not fault this from not being updated on a FL or a FA, but I think it is something worth discussing for an active FLC or FAC. With all that being said, I worry about the future as well, and I hope that Wikipedia editors are not forced out over issues or discussions like this. That would be the worst outcome. Aoba47 (talk) 20:59, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
- Sure, I have no problem with any of that. I'll be glad when we've had enough experience with LLMs so that we can at least make educated guesses about how it's all going to turn out. At the moment, I've got nothing. - Dank (push to talk) 21:39, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for the thanks on this edit. But I left a bunch of over-capitalized bracketed expressions, the likes of which I had not seen on any other article. Maybe you can figure out what they mean and how they should be fixed? Dicklyon (talk) 01:46, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon: Of course! I appreciate your edit. To be completely honest, I did not format that section correctly. I had worked on that article back in 2017, when I was a much more inexperienced editor, and I fully acknowledge and own that some of my past work, like this example, is not good. This kind of section should look like the ones in "I'm Goin' Down" or "Style" (Taylor Swift song), in which the names are presented first and their contributions listed afterward.
- The bracketed expressions are not well-done, and there is a reason why other articles do not use this system. I believe at the time, I had just copied it over from how it is represented on Discogs, which is obviously not good. If you would like to, you are more than welcome to fix this section. I do not have any real plans on ever going back to this article. Let me know if that makes sense, and feel free to ask any additional questions. Thank you again. Apologies for the length of my response. Aoba47 (talk) 05:06, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- I'd be happier if you'd fix it, since you have the source and know what it's supposed to look like. By the way, you ping didn't work. A ping only works if it's in a paragraph with a new signature (you can't add a ping to an already signed paragraph; it'll just not do anything). Dicklyon (talk) 13:07, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

- @Dicklyon: Apologies for the double message, but I just wanted to inform you that I have updated the "Hood Boy" article with this edit as we have discussed above. To be completely honest, I think this article would greatly benefit from a top-to-bottom rewrite. I fully do not stand behind my work on this, and I considered going back to this article and even collected Newspapers.com sources, but I stopped as I just did not feel like putting so much time and energy into a song that I do not particularly like or care for. Sorry as that is not particularly related to this discussion, but I just wanted to provide some sort of explanation on how I have not revisited this article in the same way that I have done with others. Promotion of My Man (Tamar Braxton song)
[edit]- Thank you for the kind words. I always appreciate this template and I think it is a kind thing to do for editors in general who go through the FAC process. Hopefully, my ping for a status update on the FAC page was not too annoying as I value everyone's time in the FAC process and I would rather have things done well than rush it. I hope you have a great weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 01:23, 25 June 2023 (UTC)

Kelly Credits
[edit]Hello As you can see here with this screenshot from Apple Music, the credits are there to see. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 19:29, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Lil-unique1: I do not get what your screenshot shows on Apple Music or in the iTunes Store. I think I would only be able to see the credits if I buy the song, which is not something I really want to do to be perfectly honest.
- A citation would still be necessary to support these credits, even just a citation to the song itself. I had removed these credits twice because a citation was not provided in either of the edits, and it is not great to introduce uncited material into an article. As you have said in your own edit summary, this information can be cited back to the song so that should be done rather than putting into the article without anything. Aoba47 (talk) 19:51, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- I don't have any account with apple music nor have a purchased the song. Strange how you can't see the credits. Rather than remove the information, you could tag it with {{CN}} >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 19:59, 2 July 2023 (UTC)
- You could also add a citation for it. Either way, I have removed the article from my watchlist as I do not have any intentions on working on it in the future. I will not revert the information, but I still do not think it is the best choice to add in information to an article without any intention to put in a citation to support it. Aoba47 (talk) 20:05, 2 July 2023 (UTC)

FLC
[edit]Hello Aoba47! Hope you're doing well. Apologies for disturbing you, but I was wondering if perhaps I could ask you for a review of List of awards and nominations received by Angel Aquino, it has stalled a bit and may need one more prose review before I can put it up for a source review. I meant to review your current FAC before my ask (as I always try to do QPQ when needed) but saw that it has gotten a good amount of support with image and sourcing reviews done, which seems to be in good order now. If you're busy, don't worry about it. I hope you have a fantastic week ahead. Pseud 14 (talk) 15:38, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Pseud 14: No need to apologize. I would be more than happy to review your FLC. I am very grateful for the help that I have received from editors for this FAC and on Wikipedia in general. I have also appreciated your feedback and hearing from you in general. Wikipedia really does have a wonderful community. I can always make time to help you and others, especially for all the help you have given me in the past. I will post a review later today. Aoba47 (talk) 17:07, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I have always appreciated all your helpful reviews in the past as well (whether in the FAC, FLC or PR space). I believe that’s because you have also been a great contributor in this community and it is a reflection of your work and the respect you have shown to other editors as well. As always, take as much time as you need, and do let me know if you are in need of reviews for future nominations, I am always happy to help. I always try to keep an eye out of them as well. Pseud 14 (talk) 17:34, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the kind words. They mean a lot to me, and I really appreciate it. I have not always been the best on here, but I continually strive to do better and better myself in that regard. I hope you are doing well and having a good start to your week! Aoba47 (talk) 17:47, 3 July 2023 (UTC)

I'm seeing at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/August 2023 that Gog would like to put this one up at TFA on August 2, unless there are objections. If you're interested in writing a blurb for it, feel free ... as you know there are some Main Page rules to follow, but don't worry about that, just write whatever you want and I'll take a look. If you prefer, I'll try doing the blurb myself. - Dank (push to talk) 01:48, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Dank: Thank you for the message. I do not have any objections, and I appreciate being notified about it. I will make up a blurb sometime tomorrow. I would not put all the responsibility on you for that. I will put it up on the FAC talk page (unless you suggest a different place to do so) and I will likely ping you there when it is done just to get a second opinion on it. I hope you are having a great week so far and thank you again. Aoba47 (talk) 01:53, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- Sounds great, thanks. - Dank (push to talk) 01:55, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
My Man (Tamar Braxton song) scheduled for TFA
[edit]This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for August 2 2023. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/August 2, 2023, or to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/August 2023. I suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:17, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the update. I will make sure to keep on eye on everything that you have recommended. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend! Aoba47 (talk) 20:44, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello. I fixed/tried to fix all the issues you have listed. I did my part. What do you think about improvements? Eurohunter (talk) 15:12, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Eurohunter: I appreciate that you have requested for a copy-edit from the Guild of Copy Editors. I would still strongly encourage you to put the article through the peer review process before attempting another FAC. The article still has significant issues with the prose so it would benefit from a GOCE copy-edit and a peer review.
- I am taking a break from Wikipedia and mostly limiting my contributions to the occasional FAC review. I will not be reading the article further and may not participate in a future peer review. Just as a note for the future, I made it clear in my oppose at the article's FAC that my comments were not exhaustive and just examples of prose issues and that I'd end my review. You continued to respond to my comments over multiple days and I would avoid doing similar things in the future. Aoba47 (talk) 17:15, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

my story today |
---|
Thank you today for My Man (Tamar Braxton song), "about a 2017 R&B and soul song, in which Tamar Braxton calls her man's mistress a "heifer". The lyrics focus on infidelity and are partially inspired by Braxton's parents and their divorce after her father's affair. Along with Laurieann Gibson-directed music video, the song was promoted with a very dramatic performance at the BET Awards 2017, which led to lip syncing accusations."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:22, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
