There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is BLP violations, wikilawyering, and tendentious editing by Tdadamemd. Thank you. NeilN talk to me 00:36, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Hello Acroterion,
You graciously hatted a section on this talk page a couple of weeks back. The editor who specializes in walls of text is at it again, posting very lengthy and detailed arguments to the effect that neutron analysis proves Oswald innocent. How this is at all likely to lead to improving the article is unclear. In addition, the user's own page has become a treatise on mind control. This all seems disruptive to me, but I seek opinions of uninvolved editors since this person has a grudge against me for calling someone a "buff". Cullen328 Let's discuss it 08:01, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks again. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 23:24, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
sealing of talkpage chapter "NAA"
Hello Acroterion, on sealing the talk page chapter Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) on Oswald you wrote, "The article talkpage is not an appropriate place to present syntheses of original research. Another unproductive discussion". Would you please explain why it was unproductive and what was missing for it to be considered productive? May I assume that with "syntheses of original research" you meant my response regarding "why some evidence was ignored"? Icarus4 (talk) 12:54, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- No progress is being made toward a consensus in favor of your suggestions. You appear to be advocating an argument from synthesis, which is not admissible on Wikipedia. The talkpage is there to facilitate concise discussion, and not as a soapbox for lengthy dissertations. Please confine your talkpage posts to concise suggestions for referenced improvements, as the very long discursive posts are becoming disruptive to the normal function of the talkpage. User:Wiki123qws
After your scolding and blocking of this user, he has apparently changed his tactic to uploading blatantly false images such as this version of the Richard and Maurice McDonald page, where he has added an image of Ray Kroc but identified it as Richard McDonald, and one of Maurice Richard that he has identified as Maurice McDonald. One has to wonder, given this user's history, whether he is here to help at all. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:39, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Indeffed for defiance of clear warnings about uploading stuff from the internet, and general not-here-to-improve-the encyclopedia behavior. Thanks for the heads-up. Acroterion (talk) 22:23, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Valley View and Wappocomo
Hey Acroterion! As you know, I've been a big fan of your contributions to Wikipedia for a long time, especially your work regarding the historic architecture of West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle. I recently completed articles for Valley View (Romney, West Virginia) and Wappocomo, and I wanted to humbly ask if you could please take a look at them in your spare time and make any changes you see fit. Wappocomo is currently up for GA review, and I hope to soon nominate Valley View as well. Thank you again for all your phenomenal contributions to Wikipedia! -- Caponer (talk) 16:55, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words - I'll have a look at the articles over the weekend. Acroterion (talk) 23:11, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you Acroterion--much appreciated! Also, I hope you don't mind me using one of your images for my DYK hook for List of plantations in West Virginia. -- Caponer (talk) 19:02, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
- By all means! It's nice to see you've summarized all of those places in one article. Acroterion (talk) 20:41, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Shouldnt be deleeted. I never put an outside link and tyred to talk neutrally. I dont know why it looks like an ad to you when it really is NOT! Do you guys tend to somehow have a chip on your shoulder with me. I know, EVERYONE does with me. No different. Jmintuck (talk) 03:03, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Wikipedia isn't a free webhost for advice, nor does it accept advertising. The article was simply a repost of promotional material previously deleted with the link removed. If you keep doing things like this [1], [2], [3], you can expect objections. Acroterion (talk) 03:18, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

For adding the HABS / HAER links to Virginia NRHP entries! Pubdog (talk) 10:48, 8 January 2014 (UTC) |
- Thank you for creating all of those articles! It's like the state's infested with NRHP properties, something historical must have happened there at some point. It's interesting to note that Mount Vernon, after Monticello, is the Grade-A historical monument, yet its HABS coverage is paltry. The ladies that run the place keep an iron grip on information. You won't see any Sally Hemings stories from Mount Vernon. Acroterion (talk) 15:00, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Block reasons
Is there any possibility that you could put a block reason everytime you block someone, or is it expected that people will dig up other logs? This block looked really weird and random at a first glance, especially as the user had not made any edits. Sleepliving (talk) 18:57, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- The user did edit: it was a spambot and I deleted the spambot's userpage, which was an external link in standard spambot format. I clicked (just this once) the block button before I could write "spambot." I promise to do better next time, as I usually do. Acroterion (talk) 21:29, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
- And now I'm totally not shocked to see that this was a sockpuppet account of a blocked user. Acroterion (talk) 04:12, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
brown posts
I spent about 3 days researching and posting responsible, relevant articles to this profile for the reason that his leadership style has caused a great stir and I wanted to give the website the opportunity to be a leader in providing researched data for people to use as that will drive more viewers to your website. Since you chose to delete 99% of my research from my 2 to 3 days of work - when I had personal responsibilities in real life as well - I have deleted all 100% of my materials. I do not want any of my research to be shown. I don't have time to waste, as I clearly have by trying to make this profile a draw for your website and a source of reporting research. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Importantposts137 (talk • contribs) 15:21, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

knowledgekid87
Acroterion, just to give you the heads up one of the editors knowledgekid87 might be taking an anti-gay stance. Can you check it out. I could be wrong and if so I apologize but it just seems that he is. Thank you, Tom991
- (talk page stalker) Tom991, If you're talking about edits to and discussion about this template, I see absolutely nothing anti-gay with Knowledgekid87's edits. --NeilN talk to me 16:13, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Like NeilN, I see nothing problematic about Knowledgekid87's edits. Gay marriage is in legal limbo in Utah, and our templates may not be well-suited to reflect ambiguous status, so reasonable people may differ on how that is to be expressed. Acroterion (talk) 16:20, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- I am actually for same-sex marriage, but we have to go by the facts here even if it is something that you might disagree with. Even if I were against Same-sex marriage though I wouldn't make it into a big deal per WP:COI. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:32, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) NeilN, Please DO NOT call me a talk page stalker! I simply brought about a concern that I had! But it seems that your one because you responded to Acroterion's message before he did! tom991
- NeilN didn't call you a talkpage stalker: he was referring to himself, and he is entitled to comment here, as is any user in good standing. Acroterion (talk) 23:27, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- I've seen this misunderstanding before. The problem is that what NeilN said is exactly and grammatically
- "tps tom, if you are talking about etc etc"
- It reads like an adjective (namely tps) being applied to a noun (namely tom). Now, of course, *I* know that tps is inherently self-referential, and an in-joke. But in the real-o-verse, being called a 'stalker' is a serious insult. And Tom991 did not know what it meant, that is clear: they were insulted. They were especially insulted that Neil would answer a question that Tom was intending to ask Acroterion, and said exactly as much, not realizing that tps is a heads-up of exactly that (i.e. NeilN != Acroterion). I personally don't use the tps-template at all, instead I type
- "talkstalk sez... hello tom, if you are talking about etc etc"
- or something along those lines. That is grammatically unambiguous. Maybe we can change
{{tps}}
to say "(talk page stalker says...)" so that the self-referentiality is crystal clear? Look at tps|v which is the worst, it would just say this.- "stalking tom, if you are talking about etc etc"
- Not Good.™ When I saw this misunderstanding the first time about a month ago, I thought it was a weird goof, but now that I've seen it again, I think this exact misunderstanding is prolly more common than one might otherwise expect. p.s. Alternatively, of course, if you want to keep the "traditional" tps-wording, the trick is to Nevah.Evah make the *first* thing after tps be the other editor's username/addr/realname. Hope this helps. 74.192.84.101 (talk) 14:35, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

- Wikipedia doesn't accept advertising. By "posting an ad" you've violated Wikipedia's rules, although in this particular case the material was deleted because it didn't make a credible assertion of notability: see WP:MUSICIAN. Promotion is deleted on sight. Acroterion (talk) 11:54, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

- It was a word-for-word copy from page 34 of The Idle Class, Winter 2014, written by Kody Ford. Since it was published elsewhere under copyright, it can't be copied into Wikipedia, which is a free-content publication that cannot republish copyrighted material. It was also promotional in nature and inappropriate for an encyclopedia: feature articles tend to be that way, which is another reason why copying such articles is inappropriate. Additionally, you have a conflict of interest: while that doesn't prevent you from editing, it should be openly acknowledged and you should follow the practices outlined at WP:COI. See also WP:MUSICIAN, which covers the notability guidelines for musical artists. It appears that having been covered previously by at least one publication, the band may meet the general notability guidelines. Discussions should take place on-wiki if at all possible for maximum transparency, so I've redacted your email from your note above so it doesn't get scraped. Superpower article
How am I meant to proceeded at the Superpower article if certain IPs feel they can just walk-in and revert the article back the the version that contains 'Russian nationalistic POV'? A recent edit war between 2 IPs has resulted in the page being protected once again, this is after only a few days since the protection you placed on the article expired. Once the current protection expires another edit war will follow, and another and another...
In the end I shall most-likely retire from trying to make improvements to the article, as there is no end to these POV pushing IPs. They don't want to accept that POV material is unacceptable. Also, when they re-insert their nationalistic POV they undo all my edits to the article in the process, which is rather frustrating. I have opened a new thread at the superpowers talk-page called "Article revision, no POV" so as to get a constructive discussion going. I would appreciate it if you could express your opinions there. Thank you. Antiochus the Great (talk) 19:22, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- You can start another dicussion but you appear to be in the mess of the edit war Antiochus the Great. Acroterion I sent Antiochus the Great on his talk page to appear of using another ip and engaged in an edit war using the ip 109.76.220.159 and Antiochus the Great of POV pushing but he quickly removes my comments[4]. I looked at the history of the Superpowers[5] and Superpowers talk[6] but the result has been under edit war since Dec 28[7] and the discussion has been minor on there part. If you start with an edit, then talk first but the action Antiochus the Great has taken has been too much and no real discussion for such. There are disagreements but that is not stoping edit push. I think there is no resolution if this continues like what I see here[8][9][10][11] as this matter was never discussed, it just appeared without any talk, this is a problem.--103.1.153.206 (talk) 19:50, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Coolest Interview Ever - Taken down
Hi Acroterion,
Hope you are doing good. I had created an article on Coolest Interview Ever, a campaign (or site) I have been following for a couple of days now. The page was made with an intent of creating a placeholder where I (and people like me) could come and get info about the same. You can actually check out the site www.coolestinterviewever.com. Though I have till now not cracked that who has been promoting, but it created a curiosity in me. The intent was that if someone gets to know about it, they might want to put the complete information here. I don't know if Wikipedia allows for that. I was really scared while putting the content and then you took me absolutely wrong :(
Please help as the article's intent was not promotion but to create an article on my opinion on some thread I saw on Twitter.
Regards Karunesh

In 2009 you deleted an article on Terry Holdbrooks under WP:CSD#A7.
Since then a policy compliant article has been written on that topic.
Could you please sew together the revision history of the original article to that of the existing Terry Holdbrooks article? If there was any meaningful exchange on the original Talk:Terry Holdbrooks could you sew in that history too?

Requesting undeletion for War Room Inc
Hello There,
I am fairly new to wikipedia and I lost my first account of Charles Mayhem, I had to recreate one, my apologies for that.
I wrote you as I have been told from Wikipedia that the name War Room Inc is blocked and that an email is needed to be sent to the person who blocked the name.
The reason I'm seeking for further help is I would like to write an article/description on War Room Inc. I had the opportunity to see their work showcased at an event I attended and they are a growing Video Marketing agency in Vancouver, BC. When I went to search more about them, I found no information on Wikipedia describing them and I feel it is important. Not only do they have outstanding work, they are on the leading edge of Video Marketing and I think it should be shared.
I appreciate that you probably receive a ton of emails like this, so thank you for your time to read mine. I would like to ask how I can submit an article on them with out being blocked once again.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your reply.

Hey there, I am back from a self imposed wiki break! YAAAAAY. SO, I have a question of course, how does one propose the merging of 2 articles? Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Chuckatuck Historic District may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hang w/
I am reaching out to inquire about recreating the "Hang w/" page on Wikipedia. I plan on recreating the page in the next few days and was directed to contact you before hand.
Since the first attempt to create the page, Hang With, Inc. has closed a Series A funding of $2,000,000 (valuing the company at $20 million), received numerous investments from notable celebrities such as 50Cent and surpassed over 1,000,000 downloads.
Please let me know if there are any further steps that are required before I can recreate the page.

Hello Acroterion, I have sent you a private email message. Best regards, David, David J Johnson (talk) 14:18, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
Query
Hello Acroterion, I have a query/looking for a bit of guidance on how to proceed with the IP at the Superpower article. Five editors, two of which are administrators have commented on the RfC. The general thrust and direction of consensus is that the material the IP/IPs are pushing for are unsuitable for the article. Policy issues that have been raised are WP:RSUW, WP:NPOV, WP:UNDUE, WP:CRYSTAL and WP:UPANDCOMING. Support has been shown for the current protected revision of the article.
The IP, however, conveniently chooses to ignore the comments on the RfC. He is still on the articles talk page pushing for his nationalistic agenda. Furthermore, he is presenting academic sources under the pretense that the source claims Russia is a superpower! For example, this source: Russia in the 21st century: The prodigal Superpower. He claims that it supports Russia as a superpower, yet the introduction chapter of the source clearly states that the books purpose is to argue in-favor of Russia's potential to reemerge as a "prodigal superpower" sometime in the 21st century. It certainly does not call Russia a superpower as the IP is trying to assert.
I fear that once the page protection expires on the 17 February, the IP will simply click "undo" and save his revision of the article, a revision that has gained no support at the RfC. So do you have any advice on how to proceed with this? Thank you. Antiochus the Great (talk) 09:47, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- Something else I would like to mention. At the RfC, some weeks ago, an IP had written (parts of it in bold) a lengthy tirade of false accusations towards me. There is nothing constructive about the comment and it has no relation to the topic of the RfC. Am I permitted to remove such comments from the RfC (Wikipedia:Requests for comment#Suggestions for responding)? As I feel editors are perhaps being discouraged to comment when they see an RfC that looks to be hostile etc. Antiochus the Great (talk) 09:57, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- This is a situation which needs your experience on the matter. (User talk:The Bushranger/Archive24#Suspicious activity). Thank you. Antiochus the Great (talk) 15:12, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'm effectively offline for at least the next day because my Internet connection is down, physically, that is, in the street because of last Wednesday's ice storm and Comcast won't get here until tomorrow afternoon. I'm working from my phone, whichlimits what I can do. I'll check in when I can do more. Even signing posts is a nuisance. Acroterion (talk) 16:19, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- Understood Acroterion, no worries. Antiochus the Great (talk) 21:31, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker): I took a look as this is my area of expertise and I think it is notable and worth keeping. I would update the source with the link to the NY Daily News story.

- I went ahead and updated the pages with sources from both the NY Daily News and the local Tampa Tribune. I also did some minor unassociated tweaks to the templates and added some sources from the FCC and Arbitron, also unassociated with the current issue.

- Sorry, lots of Real Life stuff like work and making sure we're ready for tomorrow's storm going on (Comcast finally showed yesterday afternoon, when I was supposed to be at a meeting). I'd note that the shows ran from 2005 to 2010, right now it reads like they were current until this year. I might need to semi-protect the article because of the IP. Acroterion (talk) 13:39, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- I went ahead and semi-protected, but you should clarify the dates of the noteworthy shows. I think that coverage in New York papers makes it more than a local event and passes the general notability guidelines. Acroterion (talk) 13:44, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- I went ahead and warned the anon user. He/she was up to 3RR so I made that a 3RR warning as well. I will tweak the information to show the programs were on the air from 2005-2010. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 21:44, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

- OK, the article should make that distinction, since it's about the station and not so much about the host. Acroterion (talk) 22:10, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

CUCUMBER WV??????
NOW, that is 100% very very cool to know about your ancestry.......It just so happens that I could bore you to death about mining there. They now have shaft mine from the Alphoretta company which is active along with the base tipple across the street. JUST A FYI, if you happen to own any coal scrip from Cucumber, I would cherish it, it is rather rare, as in uncommon and HIGHLY sought after. I would be delighted to get the article to that status, of course. IF you do indeed decide that, let me know. I took a few pics there recently, which I would gladly donate for the article. Its right off of Rt 16, outside of War, you probably already know thatCoal town guy (talk) 14:08, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
- I've never been to Cucumber, or for that matter, War, and I don't have any mementos of the area apart from some family pictures. My grandparents left the place when my grandfather enlisted in the Coast Guard in WWI (that's I, not II), so my father was born in Groton, Connecticut and grew up in New Jersey. My grandparents' family had lived on either side of the WV/VA border in McDowell and Tazewell counties. Everybody was a miner, so I think my grandfather decided to get out when he had the chance. Both my parents had WV roots (my mother from the opposite end of the state). Acroterion (talk) 14:39, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
- I did upload a scanned copy of my Pocahontas Coalfield Centennial medal, which was deemed to be a copyright issue and is now up for deletion...I of course removed the image from the article, AFTER, I got an actual response (woo hoo hoo) explaining why, which was OK..Cucumbers current mining is believe it or not, (not that safe). HOWEVER, the people there are rather proud of their town name and the post office, while a thing of plain cinderblock, is a mecca for those who want to say, Yes, I was in Cucumber.Coal town guy (talk) 14:45, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
- Little detail here, sorry, IF you ever plan to visit Cucumber (sure why not), I would STRONGLY advise you do so on a weekday, NOT a Saturday. The City of War has determined that its budget can not afford police coverage for the entire days of Saturday or Sunday..and some take VERY full advantage of thatCoal town guy (talk) 14:49, 18 February 2014 (UTC)

Pocahontas Coalfield, pic question
Hey- Thought I would ask a question, I own a 96 year old stock cert from Pocahontas Consolidated which later became Pocahontas Fuel and of course pretty much defined the Pocahontas Coalfield era. It is CLEARLY cancelled from the year 1917, it is also signed by Jenkinjones, (Yes of Jenkinjones, West Virginia )and his son James Elwood as well as IT Mann, yes, the IT Mann who is the namesake of Itmann, West Virginia. My question is, of course, would placing this stock cert be a copyright violation? My search thus far says NO, because it is almost 100 years old and precedes 1923, HOWEVER, I thought I would ask. Additionally, if I were to UPLOAD this as a scan, would I need to indicate the author? My thoughts are NO as it is now public domain, BUT it never ever hurts to askCoal town guy (talk) 15:21, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Stallions
Note that, due to the deficiency of true scientific literature on this topic, we can not state stallions are more or less aggressive than other horses. Therefore whatever we can say at the moment it is a merely POV opinion that should not find place in wikipedia. Using opinions in scientific issues should not have place in wikipedia. Talk in discussion please.--Agnello inferocito (talk) 18:45, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'm sure other editors have texts on animal husbandry and veterinary practice that could be used as sources: to state that no such material exists is not credible. Please allow time for editors to produce references rather than simply removing material that conflicts with your views on the subject. Acroterion (talk) 18:48, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
I have personally reviewed the literature on this topic today. And yes, except this http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12174683 there is no scientific literature on this topic, the rest is just empirism and myth. And that's NOT a point of view. Bear in mind I am not a anti-castration activist.--Agnello inferocito (talk) 19:33, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- Please keep the discussion to the article talkpage. You appear to be defining acceptable sourcing to exclude material that disagrees with your stated point of view. Please remember that a consensus of editors is required, and that you should work toward consensus. Acroterion (talk) 19:36, 19 February 2014 (UTC)

Apologies
Dear Acroterion:
The comments that had ended up on your talk page were unfortunately the product of my step-brother. These comments were through no fault of my own. I had left my account open on the article Nancy Campbell Collegiate Institute and was in the process of editing the page when I received a message from Jeff3000 about an incorrect link. I had left to do an errand and my step-brother took the opportunity to viciously attack this user about his edit. Then you sent me a message about the lack of civility in the comment, and my step-brother again took the opportunity to attack you as well. Now that I am back on my computer I find all these notifications that carry the warning of impeding blocking from editing articles. I wish there was something I could do to erase these horrible and immature acts that my step-brother committed and to ensure that I will not receive any more warning messages. The only thing I can say is that I apologize for the comments that reached you before. Sincerely, --Odingmz95 (talk) 18:42, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

Image Question
Would it be possible for this image to be used here on Wikipedia? It says it is CC 2.0, but I'm not sure if that would work here on Wikipedia. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 19:57, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- Apart from the watermark, it's CC non-commercial, so that's not going to work. The building itself looks like it dates to the 1980s, not the '50s. Acroterion (talk) 20:07, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- Damn! Thought I found an easy way around my dilemma. My digital camera broke, with no camera, I can't take a picture of the studios, so Flickr was my next best option. Actually, the studios have been updated on the outside with an addition (and inside with waaay better equipment), but they left the building exterior exactly as it was from the 1970s and 1980s. The "WINC" canopy over the door, it's been there since 1992...at least. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 05:21, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
- Got another image question for ya, would this image be useable here on Wikipedia? The image is from WINC studios, circa 1952 or 1953. You can see the WINC mic there with the WINC "flag". Little trivia, that mic now sits in the front lobby of WINC. There is another version of this photo, but it isn't as crisp and clean. The image (along with one of the studios) would be used for the WINC (AM) article, by the way. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 03:50, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- Only with a fair use rationale, seeing that Patsy's no longer around, and only in an article about Patsy Cline. Acroterion (talk) 03:56, 22 February 2014 (UTC)
- Even though Patsy is in front of the WINC mic and the picture was (probably, not certain) taken at the WINC studios (which are in the same location)? Patsy Cline and WINC are intertwined as she made her debut on WINC-AM back in 1948. She actually recorded her first album in a building which is now part of my church (kinda neat bit of useless trivia there). - Neutralhomer • Talk • 13:28, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

- Then you should be able to provide well-referenced sources that comply with WP:BLP that indicate notability. As it stood, the article was about someone who would not meet Wikipedia notability guidelines, and which made insinuations of criminal conduct, both grounds for deletion. Hey there, your gonna love this, we have an article called Sublimity City, Kentucky...Its a cool place, which was part of a Rural Welfare act of the New Deal....Kinda cool really. Because I do NOT want a 3RR AND because I have tried to contact the editor whose talk page is nothing but deletion messages, I thought......Is there a NICE way of stopping the editor from basically making the article sound like a Twilight Zone episode where dumb hicks unknowingly live in a eugenics experiment??? Hey- I left a similiar message at Caponers Talk Page, but the Pocahontas Coalfield article needs an image of the pocahontas coalfield on a map. Here is the kick, I have defined its actual geographic location, Meaning, its in Tazewell County VA, and in Both McDowell and Mercer County WV.....My question is, should we A)MAKE the map with an image here, or B)Get an old map, showing the boundaries? - Then I assume you will remember that talkpages aren't to be used to host attacks on other editors by repeatedly-blocked disruptive users, and that you will have the courtesy to remove the entry yourself. The user behind that now-blocked IP has caused large parts of Western Australia to be range-blocked due to their attacks on other editors. They aren't allowed to edit Wikipedia under any circumstances, as the blocks on their original IP remain in effect. Edits by block evaders are reverted unless there's an overriding to retain them, something that eludes me in this case, since you don't appear to agree with their behavior toward DrChrissy. Acroterion (talk) 18:54, 25 February 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your warning of being engaged in an edit war. To my knowledge, the participants are "reverting" my work yet are not being threatened with block measures.
The users attempted to prove that a certain text was written in the 2nd person and therefore advertorial. They could have simply requested that the text be revised, or could have revised it themselves. Instead, the text was simply deleted. By what way is that fair to any Wikipedian visiting the page and looking for Complete information? It appears as though the user targeting my edits has a conflict of interest given in no way was my text intended to "soapbox", yet the User continues to delete only my edits and no one elses that are clearly written for advertorial purposes.
I will take into account the argument for certain text being in 2nd person, but that is such a weak argument to justify completely removing text that perform exactly what the section requires in the description. Please see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comparison_of_Business_Process_Modeling_Notation_tools&action=history for details. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marketeer415 (talk • contribs) 21:54, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- It's up to you to fix it and to provide policy-compliant sources that back up what you say. Having been warned not to do a particular thing, i.e., inserting promotional-sounding prose, you are expected to step back and take the views of other editors into account. The fact that you did it again after I specifically warned you about edit-warring indicates that you're not taking the views of other editors seriously, and you ignored an unambiguous warning from me. Accordingly, I've blocked you for edit-warring. Acroterion (talk) 22:00, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

- Arthur: It's an Australian IP-hopper who's been waging a nasty vendetta against DrChrissy (talk · contribs) on animal rights and welfare topics, who crossed the line into sustained personal attacks back in January, leading to four /16 blocks. They've taken to trolling the talkpages of a couple of users they see as allies. It reached block-on-sight a long time ago. Just a heads up, but I see you blocked Beingsshepherd (talk · contribs) for personal attacks/harassment back in 2013.[13] Well, he's being a dick again, this time calling a living person a "warmonger" and reposting a twitter discussion with the person in the draft space.[14] Pretty bizarre behavior, and I've seen a lot of strange stuff in my time. Do you think we can get List of glaciers to Wikipedia:Featured lists? --evrik (talk) 18:51, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- It ought to be a featured list, but it'll be difficult, since it would have be a selective list of the tens of thousands of glaciers in the world, with links to fuller (but still mostly incomplete) lists by continent, country, etc. There'd need to be some sort of inclusion criterion, and of course referencing. I attacked nobody.Just I tried to help justice in a broad sense. A criminal or a convicted felon is to be called by his name and in argentina people that tries to disguise convicted criminals them are subject to penal laws.A fact:nothing personal.Besides Germany has similar laws for Holocaust denial. As we had our own Holocaust and thanks to Pres Kirchner we have 'Proceso Criminal Acts' denial also as a penal offense. Maybe you dont understand Spanish ,but a famous motto from a former patriot is now valid in Argentina: Con Libertad no ofendo ni temo. And I would add With freedom I do not offend nor I fear and also I can chase perpetrators and perpetrators' friends. Yes it is strange but no other country in the world was so harsh with that as Argentina : it is true that sometimes we overreact but it is a matter of balance . We are not easy forgiving south africans or chileans nor the perpetrators heirs as modern politicians like in Spain. No. Try to understand. Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nemesis1976 (talk • contribs) 16:52, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- I was referring to the attack you made against Materialscientist in response to his removal of your unsourced edits. You may not accuse other users of criminal collusion simply because you disagree with them, or because they've pointed out that your edits aren't in accordance with Wikipedia rules. Regardless of Argentinian custom and laws, you must follow Wikipedia's requirements for edits about people, which include required sourcing. Acroterion (talk) 16:56, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
"I ll consider you are helping convicted criminals according to argentine laws . Or maybe you are a hidden family member of this criminals" This is not absurd .It is the law in Argentina. And a massive social practice.Visit a courtroom where the trials are conducted. In my suffering country, victims and victims relatives in crowd yell against the perpetrators and his lawyers and cheer the brave witness .We dont want to be cool. Horror must be exorcised. We do that for the past but also for the future. Denial is equivalent to helping criminals (CP y CPP) ,Besides the legal prosecution ,if you are a public servant , a policeman ,a member of the military ,etc and you slightly suggest men like diz or martinez de h could have been not guilty on the ground of low evidence impact ,you are entitled to a 'pink slip' without any further discussion . And a heavy rain of tomatoes and eggs pointing to your head and home. That is why the only people that make this allegations are direct family members of the criminals. Capisce ?
R — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nemesis1976 (talk • contribs) 17:04, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- You may wish to read WP:GREATWRONGS, which addresses what you're trying to do. You should also read WP:BLP. Wikipedia's requirements differ from those of Argentinian public servants, and require sources in such cases, not plain assertions, and certainly not the speculative commentary you added. In no case can you attack editors in such a plainly ridiculous manner as to state that they must be colluding with criminals because they reverted your poorly-considered edits. (And by the way, in American English tagging "capisce?" on the end of a statement is considered aggressive and rude). Acroterion (talk) 17:14, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

9/11 Cellphone Calls
Can you explain why you deleted/censored attributed edits to an article relating to the 'official' story of purported, but scientifically untenable, cellphone calls made on September 11, since no evidence, beyond their assertion, exists for such calls having been made: no phone logs, no tower transmission records, nothing? Is this wikipedia policy to maintain official narratives in the face of scientific scrutiny? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChasGrav (talk • contribs) 18:28, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- Wikipedia's verifiability and reliable sourcing policies preclude the insertion of statements in Wikipedia's voice sourced to what amounts to a blog in an alternative media outlet. Wikipedia requires sourcing to major scholarly and mainstream media. One writer's conclusions in an online outlet with no editorial review are wholly insufficient for mention, far less as a source for the extensive and inappropriate commentary you inserted. - People sometimes want to use Wikipedia as a forum for shaming, and it appears that any article on that subject would turn into a circus if the IP's attitude is widespread. - Per the USGS, "Although the content of most National Atlas Web pages is in the public domain, some pages may contain material that is copyrighted by others and used by the National Atlas with permission." Maxx
I have tried to ignore the user now for several hours. But the user continues to send comments about me to other users and continues to bring me up at his talk page. This after several users have continually asked him not to continue to taunt me. I find it really annoying because I have spent half this day having to defend myself so that no user Maxx sends a message to misunderstands the situation and blocks me or similar. Regards,--BabbaQ (talk) 14:16, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

Poor block statement
Re Maxx block statement [15]. Not good for a couple reasons. Mark M has already pointed out the "evening with friends" thing -- humor / light tone doesn't work when exercising authority. Enough said. More importantly, Maxx cannot find "redemption" because he hasn't been damned -- you're a volunteer transiently stopping someone from wasting their time working on an encyclopedia for free, not an archangel casting someone into Hades. Ironically, throwing around terms like "redemption" amplifies / escalates the so-called battlefield mentality cited as part of the reason you felt a block was necessary. It may also be time for you and Bish to grok that, despite good intentions and knowledge of Wikipedia, your particular communication style isn't being effective with Maxx, so stepping back and letting folks like Mark attempt to engage might be the better course -- certainly less time consuming for you. NE Ent 15:18, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you feel that way, and that you've chosen to read so much unintended allusion into a few words that I've already conceded were poorly chosen. I'm in favor of helping editors who have run into trouble return to productive editing, and I blocked only after my last warning was expressly ignored. I fear that Maxx may not have the listening skills to do so, but I've encouraged Mark Miller to try, as it appears that he is able to engage Maxx productively. Of all the people who have attempted to engage Maxx, he's done the best job, and there have been a lot of attempts by a lot of different editors, including extensive and patient efforts by myself and Bishonen despite calls for Maxx's head (see a couple of threads up the page from here, and the separate ANI thread where Bishonen and I were criticized for not blocking Maxx). As you note, a block prevents someone from editing the encyclopedia for a while: that's all that was intended, and that's all it is. Acroterion (talk) 15:42, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- I actually have to step up and defend Acroterion here. The user in question which has been blocked has if you look at the bottom of his talk page been conducting the same kind of "bad behavior" over several years now. And obviously several users have tried unsuccessfully to try to reason with the user. Also from what I can see Mark Miller has also concluded today that he can not reason with the user. So before making judgements NE Ent please see the whole picture and not just a few words in a block statement. I felt I had to step in as NE Ent seems to have gotten this wrong just as Mark Miller did with a statement of mine concerning the blocked user today. I do not see anything similar to a battlefield mentality in his block statement, if you compate that statement to any of the blocked users last 30 posts about this situation, well its not a fun read. Now I will go back to ignoring this situation and hope for better times :)--BabbaQ (talk) 23:27, 15 March 2014 (UTC)

- I suppose some form of cite web, since it's visible online, heavily adapted and amended. I think there's a little-used comment field that might be useful. Acroterion (talk) 01:02, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- This was only available at my local library and in paper form. The contents of the "collection" is listed online. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 01:04, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Then an adaptation of cite book, mentioning the file it came from. Nice place to do some research! Acroterion (talk) 01:06, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- OK, that'll work. :) Yeah, Handley Library has quite an extensive archives. A massive amount of microfiche, tons of ancestry items, and LOTS of local stuff. They remodeled everything a few years back and it still looks awesome. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 01:11, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

User: Beingsshepherd
Hello Acroterion, You may be interested to read the above "users" comment on my Talk page in response to my recent revert of one of their edits. I have to say that I feel the community have given this user enough space to peddle conspiracy theories and anti US statements, rather than a neutral point of view. Is it not time for some positive action to stop this propaganda? With best regards, David J Johnson (talk) 22:28, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Can't say I'm surprised. As I noted to Beingsshepherd, I'm not particularly concerned with the "terrorist" angle, but the opinions expressed and reflected in their edits indicate they're here to move the encyclopedia to reflect their extremist views. An AE request may be necessary if they continue. Acroterion (talk) 22:54, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comments. The word "terrorist" is contained in several 9-11 articles. I truly believe that the community must stop these extremist views and maintain the neutral point of view. Best regards, David J Johnson (talk) 23:02, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- By the way, I'm not an uninvolved admin, so I won't be imposing any sanctions myself. Acroterion (talk) 23:06, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

I've semi-protected this page for 10 days, which will probably have to be extended
I have spent the last ten minutes drafting various messages trying to explain the importance of DENY, and when I went to post it I saw you have correctly interpreted the situation so the user does not have to be put in the position of asking for the semi. Your admin work on this has been extremely helpful, thank you. Johnuniq (talk) 01:46, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- You're right, in these cases, the less said, the better. Glad to help. Acroterion (talk) 01:53, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm. There is no log of the semi, and an IP has just posted pointing out that there is no protection (the person behind the IP is different and is well intentioned). Please check (and why not make it three months)! Johnuniq (talk) 04:26, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm indeed, I've semi'd and checked the log to make sure it took. Acrozilla doesn't have the ability to do that, but if the Bishzilla pattern holds, he/she/it will be an Arb eventually. Acroterion (talk) 11:29, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

For your excellent and tireless work in dealing with that pesky IP (not to mention your mastery of rangeblocks, a concept that is way above my head!). --Tryptofish (talk) 22:02, 18 March 2014 (UTC) |
- Thanks, I've gradually started to grok IPv4 rangeblocks, but I can't get my head around hexadecimal addressing yet. Acroterion (talk) 02:05, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Please undo deletion
Hi Acroterion,
Can you please undo your deletion of the Laporte CPA and Business advisers page? This page is not spam or marketing and is an established well known company. I have backed up all the content with resources and links to the appropriate site. Let me know if you have any questions or need any thing else from me.
Thanks so much, Travis — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tbuck2012 (talk • contribs) 03:05, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- It was written as a pure marketing release and was promotional in tone, with peacock phrasing and doubtful notability. I would be happy to place the deleted content into a sandbox in your userspace for you to work on it to bring it into compliance with guidelines. Acroterion (talk) 03:08, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Can you replace my content back online in the sandbox for me to edit? What do I need to do in order to be in compliance? I did all my research on this company and thought I had everything formatted correctly. Everything mentioned on that page is the truth, and the references are valid you can check them out. What suggestion do you have for me for bringing this into compliance? What was it about my page that immediately threw up a red flag to you guys? Everything written on this page was from a neutral prospective i thought. --Tbuck2012 (talk) 03:58, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'll put it into User:Tbuck2012/sandbox. You'll need to substantiate notability by reference to multiple instances of substantial coverage by regional or national media (not just local coverage, and in some depth), and you'll need to remove peacock phrasing and intensifiers. It read like something from the company's marketing department, which is fine for a marketing release, but not for an encyclopedia. The use of the first person is particularly inappropriate, along with peacock phrasing like "highly credentialed" (does that actually mean anything?). Additionally, all statements should be sourced to third-party sources, not the people in marketing, and for notability it needs substantial sources outside New Orleans and Houston. Otherwise, it reads as a promotional article on an unremarkable, fairly large local accounting firm. Acroterion (talk) 11:39, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
You deleted the page before I could finish Robert Leslie Davis
I was trying to create a link to a list of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_who_disappeared_mysteriously and you did not even give me enough time to create the link from creating the article. I did not want to create the article, but I got my section deleted without having the article. I have posted also my reasons for not having the page deleted. I will be adding more details to page. It is important to add details to the page to help find the missing Robert Leslie Davis. If the page must be deleted then how can the list be added to. As you see it's a caught 22 and I would like to restore my page. Apriv40dj (talk) 01:15, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- You might want to read WP:BIO, WP:NOTE and in particular WP:BLP1E. There was no indication that the person was notable in any respect other than their disappearance, and that their disappearance is not itself significant enough for inclusion either on his own or as part of that list. The people on the list were for the most part already notable, and their disappearance enhanced pre-existing notability. However, I would be happy to place the deleted material in a sandbox in your userspace for you to develop at User:Apriv40dj/sandbox. Acroterion (talk) 01:29, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
It's in the sandbox. Please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopdia, and not a means of finding missing people. Acroterion (talk) 01:34, 21 March 2014 (UTC) I created an article for review about him, but again, it was no my intention to want to have an article about him, only that I needed to add him to the list of missing people. I have talked to the family. They would like it done. I can augment the article as needed. My question is how can one be added to the list of missing people if they don't have the article? It like saying if you are not famous in some way you don't deserve to be on the list of missing people. The list of missing people is important because we need to follow for historical reasons the missing in case there is a link such as people being taken for a reason that is unknown to us. People may wish to write a report or to research and look at trends in missing people over the years. Later if something comes up those people all had in common, such as a gang was making these people disappear for a reason. The reason could be to steal their cars just for example. Apriv40dj (talk) 01:44, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- With complete respect for Mr. Davis and his family, who have my sincere sympathy, you have to be notable to be on the list, or to be discussed in a global encyclopedia. In general, people who aren't notable would not be eligible for inclusion. There are exceptions, but even Adam Walsh, for instance, doesn't have his own article: the article is about the Murder of Adam Walsh, a notable crime. Acroterion (talk) 01:52, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps a better example is Disappearance of Kyron Horman. The case is notable because it spawned a media frenzy, and perhaps unfairly, Mr. Lewis's disappearance hasn't gotten nearly as much press. Notability is in proportion to media coverage, particularly outside a local area. If British newspapers picked up the disappearance, for instance, it would move toward notability. What is the talk page stalker thing mean?
Is there any significances to having a leopard badge on your page or is this just an attempt at humor? I really need to know if they this just humor or has any meaning beyond humor, and no I am not joking about it. Apriv40dj (talk) 01:18, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- It is of no significance, except to indicate that other users watch this page and that they might respond to comments posted here. It is not humorous, it's just a picture on a notice, and you should read no particular meaning into it. Acroterion (talk) 01:26, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Ok, I was worried it was something I should heed. Apriv40dj (talk) 01:37, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Nope, just a note that folks who post here might hear from someone other than me. It happens, and people are sometimes surprised by that. Acroterion (talk) 01:47, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) It's a way of telling folks not familiar with the custom that other people than Acroterion read this page, and that some of us not only may respond, but are welcomed to do so by Acroterion! --Orange Mike | Talk 02:01, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
As always, I come to your for guidance. This new article of mine has been nominated for speedy deletion. The issue seems to be notability. I find the story important as the company is loansharking and in endless legal trouble. It certainly is covered in the media. What think you? Paul, in Saudi (talk) 11:32, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'd say it was only marginally notable on its own. Acroterion (talk) 02:30, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you.Paul, in Saudi (talk) 04:20, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Editing for Clarity and for a "Neutral Point of View Policy"
Hello Acroterion,
Thank you for your message.
I have been studying 911 for over 13 years now. I have been active in translations of scientific material using members of the China Science Academy. I lost family on 911. I am committed to this topic and would like to help you honor your pledge to a "neutral point of view policy."
There are more than a few bones of contention I have with your article and would like to work with you to iron out the slant and impartial/dishonest statements.
If you are a dedicated journalist, for which I believe you are, I expect to hear back from you.
Sincerely, Mike McNulty beijingyank — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beijingyank (talk • contribs) 09:22, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not a journalist: I'm one of many volunteers collectively writing an encyclopedia, so you should approach the community as a whole. It is not Wikipedia's role to investigate, to reveal or to draw unique conclusions as a journalist might. Please use the relevant article talkpages to bring up the issues that concern you, and please remember that articles (and talkpages) aren't appropriate places for exercises in drawing conclusions from primary data. As a tertiary source, Wikipedia reflects the consensus of prominent secondary sources. That is why I reverted your analysis of the 9/11 truth movement. We must all base our edits on a preponderance of published views reflecting reliable mainstream and scholarly sources. Acroterion (talk) 11:09, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
