The CSD criteria have been written to tightly define what does and does not qualify for speedy deletion. This is done to ensure that only those articles where clear consensus for deletion exists will be speedily deleted. The criteria are strict because careless or hasty speedy deleter's can do just as much, if not more damage to the project than vandals. Poor quality CSD'ers can chase off quality editors by inappropriately deleting their articles. This can be frustrating to a newbie editor and can tarnish Wikipedia's image. Per the policy, Where reasonable doubt exists, discussion using another method under the deletion policy should occur instead.
- An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from questions of verifiability and reliability of sources, and is a lower standard than notability. A7 applies only to articles about web content or articles on people and organizations themselves, not articles on their books, albums, software and so on. Other article types, including school articles, are not eligible for deletion by this criterion. If controversial, as with schools, list the article at articles for deletion instead.
When looking at CSD A7, I try to remember this: Articles about people or groups can be fairly personal. If an article is written in a manner that attempts to be NPOV or asserts any sort of notability, regardless of how weak, I prefer to send the article for PROD/AFD. This gives the author the chance to save the article. Even if the article doesn't meet current expectations for WP:BIO, I prefer giving the author a chance to demonstrate notability. Keeping an article of this type for 5 days will not hurt the encyclopedia, and if the author can assert notability, we might end up better off in the end. Furthermore, I think A7 is the place where newbies are bitten the most. They start an article on a subject they believe to be notable, save it, and before getting a chance to make another edit, the article is speedily deleted.
The problem with A7, is that it allows CSD'ers and Admins to delete A7 articles before the author has a chance to develop them. Most of the criteria for CSD deals with obvious cases where CSD is clearly appropriate and producing a viable article is unlikely--- vandalism, nonsense, gibberish, attack pages, no content, no context, etc---A7 allows for the deletion of an article as it is developing. Many people do not know to write articles in their user space, and thus will save articles in the mainspace---which is then tagged for deletion.
During my review of 20 articles, I found 2 (10%) that I felt should have been PRODDED as compared to speedied and 1 (5%) that was incorrectly deleted per A7 (but could have been deleted under 2 other criteria.)

Deletion Review - A7
[edit]According to WP guidelines, making it to the finals in a non-notable competition is not a claim to notability nor is appearing in a DVD set. If the person were to meet our guidelines or a valid assertion of notability were provided, the article could be recreated.

4 "Rachel Feinstein"
[edit]Rachel Feinstein is an American artist working in New York. [1] She is married to artist, John Currin.
Deletion Review - A7
[edit]As a general rule of thumb, if there are references, then the article probably is not deletable via A7. But that assumes that the reference is from an independent source and about the subject, not by the subject.
5 "The Cult Following of Nickoulous Viater"
[edit]The Cult Following of Nickolaus Viater is a underground religious following of a claimed "messiah" of sorts. It has been dubbed a "cult following" by dominant religious sectors and mainstream media only, as the followers claim it is the one true path to salvation and enlightenment. It has been called many things from a scam to an abomination, but to be certain, the followers of this so-called faith (usually called Nickologists, Nick's Jihad, Followers of the True Faith, and sometimes couldn't care less about what they are called.
- == Practices ==
Nickologists, will usually sit around their prophet all day long, observing his actions, so that they may learn how to be more perfect. Or they may be seen mimicking his every action. Others who have acheived the status of High Priest-nick can be seen as an equal to their revered prophet. Nickologists tend to devote all of their time on computers, playing an assortment of MMORPG's and FPS online games on PC Computers, usually sharing LAN with other Nickologists. They do this because, based on the commandments layed down by their profit, PC's are creations of the Nickologist supreme being, as well as any new online role playing game that the prophet deems worthy. There is also a little misconception with the theism in Nickology. The supreme being that they claim to exist, happens to be their prophet as well, who they claim is living somewhere in California, USA. This would point to the claim that "God" is walking among us, and the apocalypse is soon to come.
- ==Commandments==
As the story goes, the prophet, known as Nick, as soon as he could write scrawled out a cryptic message for his family to read; but nobody could read it. When the writings were taken to a translator, it was found that it was written in a form of ancient long dead strain of Latin. It is said to have read as follows:
Thou shalt drink the lords greatest sacrament, channeled through the holiest of beverages, the Dew which forms on the Mountains.
Thou shalt not sleep much, for it is a sin to miss out on what more teachings I have to offer you.
Thou shalt live a life of abstinence and drug free-ness, until thy is bored with it, for it is good for your character.
Thou shalt not ask me for answers, for if I care I shall let you know.
Thou shalt spend as much time on my holy device, the computer, and thy internet, for those who have created it are the earliest practitioners of my teachings.
Thou shalt laugh as much as thy can at our infidels.
- == Controversy ==
Nickologists are still fighting to be recognized as the one true religion. They have not ruled out the possibility of crusade, and are open about this. They have been called a Satan-worshiping cult several times by followers of the Catholic Church. Also their has also been a rash deletion of almost all remnants of the religion on the internet, but one of the head officials, Head High Preistnick DJ, had stated that "A reissuing of our faith will be put forth unto the internets, and we shall combat the infidels head on, over the internets of course."
- == The Prophet ==
There has been a small auto biography written on a fan page of the "Great Prophet Nick" on the popular Myspace social network. If it was truly written by the prophet, or is a hoax, is still unknown.[2]
The biography goes as followed:
Hey, my name is Nick Viater.
I am a dynamic figure, often seen scaling walls and crushing ice. I have been known to remodel train stations on my lunch breaks, making them more efficient in the area of heat retention. I translate ethnic slurs for Cuban refugees, I write award-winning operas, I manage time efficiently.
Occasionally, I tread water for three days in a row. I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.
Using only a hoe and a large glass of water, I once single-handedly defended a small village in the Amazon Basin from a horde of ferocious army ants. I play bluegrass cello, I was scouted by the Mets, I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge.
I am an abstract artist, a concrete analyst, and a ruthless bookie. Critics worldwide swoon over my original line of corduroy evening wear. I don't perspire. I am a private citizen, yet I receive fan mail. I have been caller number nine and have won the weekend passes. Last summer I toured New Jersey with a traveling centrifugal-force demonstration. I bat 400.
My deft floral arrangements have earned me fame in international botany circles. Children trust me. I can hurl tennis rackets at small moving objects with deadly accuracy. I once read Paradise Lost, MobyDick and David Copperfield in one day and still had time to refurbish an entire dining room that evening. I know the exact location of every food item in the supermarket. I have performed several covert operations with the CIA. I found Waldo.
I sleep once a week; when I do sleep, I sleep in a chair. While on vacation in Canada, I successfully negotiated with a group of terrorists who had seized a small bakery. I balance, I weave, I dodge, I frolic, and my bills are all paid.
On weekends, to let off steam, I participate in full-contact origami. Years ago I discovered the meaning of life but forgot to write it down. I have made extraordinary four course meals using only a mouli and a toaster oven. I breed prize-winning clams. I have won bullfights in San Juan, cliff-diving competitions in Sri Lanka, and spelling bees at the Kremlin.
Well, that's my story in short, ask me if you want the novel.
Deletion Review - A7
[edit]This is one of those tough articles to review that makes A7 one of the most difficult CSD categories out there. The question is, does it make a claim to notability? If it were an article about Nick an argument could be made that it did make a claim to notability. But the article is about a cult that worships Nick. As such it makes not claim that the cult itself is notable. Thus, it is clearly a case of Speedy Deletion under A7. It could also be deleted under G3-Vandalism. While Hoaxes are not Speedy Deletable, the last section moves it from being a mere hoax to defined vandalism.

8 "Andrew Gilkerson"
[edit]andrew is the most beastily person you will ever meet. he is an athletic machine who plays basketball and soccer and volleyball. andrew is also the coolest person on the earth he is as cool as Antarctica.
Deletion Review - A7
[edit]This is where the wording in A7 technically fails us. From a technical point of view, this article does make a claim to notability--- "the most beastily person you will ever meet" and "coolest person on earth." So from a technical perspective, it wouldn't meet A7... but in reality it does. While it makes a claim to notability, it does make a claim to notability those claims are 1) Subjective and could never be substantiated 2) those claims do not meet WP:BIO---there is no criteria for "most beatily person" under bio and 3) they are not credible claims. This is merely another vanity article that A7 was created to counter.
9 "Pastor Steven M. Smith"
[edit]Pastor Steven M. Smith is the pastor and founder of Acts Gospel Mission Orthodox Pentecostal Church Incorporated located in Charleston, South Carolina. Pastor Smith was also the Republican nominee for South Carolina's State House district 109 in the 2008 general election.
Deletion Review - PROD
[edit]Unelected public figures and local ministers are generally not notable, being the Republican Nominee for State representative and founder of a Church are claims at notability. Granted, they are not enough to prevent the article from being deleted, but they are enough that they should avoid CSD. Keeping this article for 5 days will do no harm to wikipedia and might give the creator the time needed to meet BIO. By tagging it for deletion less than 5 minutes after creation, you might chase off a newbie author.
10 "Faith fighters"
[edit]copyvio of http://www.cmfaithfighters.com/index.cfm?page=6
Deletion Review - G11 or G12
[edit]It would be better deleted as G11 blatant advertising or still better yet as G12copy vio. It is a personal preference, but when possible I don't like A7 because it can seem more personal. Somebody who firmly believes an article exist, because in their mind the group is notable, won't like having it deleted as "not-notable." As an add or copy vio, it is a little more digestable. AS G11, it tells people that this article should not be recreated as was under any circumstance. As for A7, the article makes the assertion, Master Matthews also was instrumental in bringing Moo-Kwon-Do to international acclaim by teaching the system and its philosophy in Germany, during his tour of duty in the Military. Thus, it is not speedy deletable via A7.
11 "Hirman"
[edit]Hirman Rasid or better known as Hirman is a 26 year old Singaporean indie-folk singer. Other than singing or composing, Hirman is active in poetry and is recognized as a rare talent in this day and age. Hirman has stated a few inspirations leading up to his compositions such as Radiohead, Coldplay and many British Indie bands. A few of Hirman's favourite artiste are Sarah Bareilles, Brett Anderson, Kasabian, Coldplay, Radiohead. Hirman sports a bald-head and wears specs. He is currently working at Bread n Butter located at Wisma Atria. Hirman lives in the North-eastern side of Singapore(Sengkang).

[edit]The fact that "more info will be added later" does not save the article from being a clear A7. This is especially true as the article had just 2 hours earlier been CSD'd for the same reason.
14 "LAC Airways"
[edit]LAC Airways is an independant airline founded in September 2008. The Company flys the Tupolev Tu-204-100 aircraft from Ireland and England to across Russia and Belurus. The company is run by Laura Coffey who is a gradute from Cambridge College of Aeronautics. The airline started off with a single Airbus A318-112 leased from the ILFC. On the 7th of November LAC Airways had put an order for 10 Tupolev Tu 204-100. The previous Orders had all been Pulled out of. The Aircraft can fly 210 passengers in one class configuration (Economy 29 Inch). LAC Airways Holds A United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence permitting it to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircraft with 20 or more seats
Deletion Review - A7
[edit]This article was tagged for AFD then nominated G3-Vandalism as a possible hoax. While the airline gets no ghits, that does not mean it is a hoax. Even if it were a hoax, being a hoax is not vandalism or a criteria for speedy, and this article would do no harm going through the prod/afd process. The article had been at AFD for 2 hours before being deleted A7. It does clearly meet the criteria for A7.

Deletion Review - PROD
[edit]This is a tough one, A7 is ok, but personally, I think this one should be prodded and if contested taken to AFD. While I suspect that there is little change of preventing this article from being deleted, I think there is enough of a claim to give the author a chance. It does make marginal claims to notability---numerous ad campaigns.
