The Dumpy test is a brief heuristic to estimate the notability of a musical group or band and whether or not they should have an article. The test is simply : "Has this band achieved as much as Dumpy's Rusty Nuts"?
For the unfamiliar, a key claim to notability for this band is being routinely mocked and satirised in Melody Maker for several years in the 1980s and 1990s as the archetypical "failed" band that continue to perform live and sporadically release records, despite all indications from the music press that they should cease doing so. Nevertheless, the group have performed at notable venues such as the Marquee Club, released a few singles on traditional, commercially-oriented record labels, and been mentioned in commercially published books, magazines and papers (not least Melody Maker itself), so they meet our guidelines for inclusion.
Therefore, it stands to reason that if your band can't even manage what Dumpy has done, the odds are highly likely that your band article just isn't suitable for Wikipedia and has a strong chance of being deleted, possibly even faster than a speeding guitar solo.
If biker metal bands aren't your thing, a variation on this theme is the HMHB Test, comparing your band article to the much loved (and top 60 charting) Half Man Half Biscuit.
