Error

- Actually, that's incorrect. BZ1 used i76, BZ2 and DR2 used Zero, Pandemic's proprietary engine, as noted here. --Teancum (talk) 13:26, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- Battlezone used Interstate '76 and Clone Wars used Ground Zero but Battlezone 2 and Dark Reign 2 used their own (shared) engine unrelated to Interstate '76 or Ground Zero. After shipping the first game, the Dark Reign team began developing an entirely new 3D game engine for the sequel, Dark Reign 2. After splitting from Activision to form Pandemic, the Dark Reign 2 team continued to use their engine (as one would expect) and the Battlezone 2 team switched over to it, transplanting the Battlezone application layer onto the new engine. Later, Julio Jerez developed the Ground Zero engine on his own time and brought it to Pandemic as shared technology; it was a kind of "spiritual successor" to the I'76 engine and shared many architectural features as Julio was a major developer of that engine. Star Wars: The Clone Wars started with a cut-down version of Battlezone 2 transplanted onto the Ground Zero engine, and grew from there.Kdmiller3 (talk) 20:20, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
As another correction, the Star Wars Battlefront series did not use Ground Zero. There was vigorous debate early in development about whether we should continue with Ground Zero or start from scratch, and ultimately the decision was made to start from scratch. Ground Zero did carry on in the form of the Zero Editor for years afterward, though, which had evolved from the Clone Wars world editor, which in turn had evolved from the Battlezone 2 world editor.Kdmiller3 (talk) 20:31, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
Pandemic used it for several unreleased projects during the transition to console development, and I think Full Spectrum Warrior may have used it as well. (I'm not as confident about the latter, though.) Kdmiller3 (talk) 20:31, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
- The sourced video states explicitly that Zero is derived from the BZ2/DR2 engine - that is, it is newer than both. There is only one section of the video (with Adam Batters, 1:43 to 1:55) that discusses the engine's development origins, but the above comment is from Ken Miller (another of the project's developers). army men RTS

- Given that Dark Reign 2 was not a Zero game - as confirmed by the developer in the thread above and mentioned in this Metro article - it's highly likely that Army Men 2 isn't either.
