Review
[edit]For possible use in expanding the article: ANN reviewed the first DVD of the AnimeEgo release. Glowingly, I might add. —Quasirandom (talk) 20:30, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- And now ANN has also reviewed the first box set. Also glowingly. People, this is getting rave reviews. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:37, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
Article
[edit]There is a problem with the Plot and Characters sections. It is definitely based solely on the anime, but it doesn't state that. In the original Manga the 1988 Seoul Olympics are the focus.
Some characters are mentioned that are completely secondary in the manga series, like Kamoda or Sudoh. Others that are much more important, as Ito Fujiko or Yawara's father, are not there. At the very least, the basis for this list of characters should be explained. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.111.183.181 (talk • contribs)
Episode guide
[edit]An editor is adding a full episode guide. This may be too much, with 124 episodes. Also, many of the entries are duplicates of previous ones, but that may be because the editor isn't finished. Comments? --John Nagle (talk) 08:22, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- Some cleanup is needed. Somewhere in that episode guide, there is a bracket out of balance. Editing by section won't work because of that. For Episode 2, there are places where "Sayaka" should be "Yawara", as in "Sayaka sees this as an insult and vows to defeat Sayaka." There are many places where there is no space after a period. The article titles probably shouldn't be in square brackets as links; an article for every episode is unlikely. Thanks. John Nagle (talk) 03:31, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- Well, it's fair to add an episode list, and if it's becoming long it can be split. If it's bad written, etc it can be resolved, it's the Wikipedia spirit. About individual episodes, yeah, it's good to remove the brackets. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 03:45, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- Fixed the formatting problem. The Japanese episode template must be enclosed in a Wikitable, or the content gets dumped at the end of the page, messing up the formatting. Also did some minor cleanup on episodes 1-4. John Nagle (talk) 06:37, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
- The editor adding the episode guide finished adding all the episodes, so I did some minor cleanup. John Nagle (talk) 20:08, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- I only watch this page in case of vandalism but I'm not that attached to it. If you like the series, I should note that it needs a lot of clean up. I didn't counted and only took a quick look but I'd say (some) summaries are too long. WP:TVPLOT for instance states: "For season articles, there are a couple of ways to present plot information: in a basic prose section that gives season story arcs and main plot points or a tabular format that sections off each individual episode with its own brief plot section (approximately 100–200 words for each, with upwards of 350 words for complex storylines)." The article uses the second option so it may need some trimming. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 01:18, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
- I'm more or less done. I was just fixing some broken formatting. Someone else can condense the content if they like. This didn't really have "seasons", it just ran week after week, with a title counting down "N days to Barcelona". John Nagle (talk) 06:58, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

All upper case?
[edit]Someone moved the title to all upper case. That's not normal style for Wikipedia. --John Nagle (talk) 21:09, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- My thoughts exactly but it needs an admin to do the move. SephyTheThird (talk) 21:12, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- Should it be moved to Yawara! or back to Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl? But yes, @Magicperson6969: page move was completely inappropriate, and his edit of the short cut to prevent the move from being reverted is underhanded. —Farix (t | c) 12:19, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- said user has been making a lot of debatable changes, largely merging episode lists to their parent articles, but is also adding to articles as well so I can only see them as good faith, if perhaps misguided. As for which title is better, the full title is used commonly and is even used in Japanese media in English (ie the covers) so is probably more appropriate.SephyTheThird (talk) 12:53, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

- I moved it back to Yawara! since the manga is titled as only that. The name of the anime series (Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl) is in the infobox and in the header. I also normalized the capitalization of the title since we don't pay attention to the marketing formatting of all caps or all lowercase. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 21:47, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
