Due to life, the universe, and everything, I'm working on a few on-going projects but otherwise not taking on new tasks. FYI, I don't bother archiving, but simply trim out old/no longer useful conversations. If something's gone, check the history files.

BarnSakura Award for Excellent Work
[edit]The Anime and Manga BarnSakura Award
For your extensive work cleaning up, sourcing, and performing needed merges at List of Fruits Basket characters, I felt you are quite deserving of a barnstar. :) Collectonian (talk) 17:55, 7 April 2008 (UTC) |
- Awww. Thankee. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:05, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah, you earned this one!
[edit]BarnSakura for excellent edits
I hereby award you the Anime and Manga BarnSakura for your willingness to tackle the mess that was List of Red River chapters and fixing it into a properly formatted chapter list! ---- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:05, 7 August 2008 (UTC) |
- But I'm not done yet! And, I'm not going to get very much done on the excessive plot front. —Quasirandom (talk) 19:07, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I know, but its already looking a ton better! :) Now that plot thing...eww....-- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:11, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Decent layout and formatting helps almost anything. (Yeah, that plot. Just deleting it all would be the wrong thing to do, alas.) —Quasirandom (talk) 19:35, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yep. I'd give it a whirl, but I haven't decided if I want to read the series yet or not. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:37, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I know I want to read the series, but I've been waiting for English publication to complete. From what I've seen, it's as good (and totally cracked) as anything else Shinohara has published. And I've got a strong interest in the Hittites. —Quasirandom (talk) 19:42, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Want a mop?
[edit]You've always struck me as the sensible one of us all at WP:ANIME, as well as the constant voice of reason. I think you'd do great with the tools. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 08:56, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- If you're spending too much time in the WP space, then that's a sign you would benefit from the tools :p That and you've cranked out a few FLs, so I wouldn't say you don't edit articles either. Most people have no idea what they want to do with the tools before they get them, but it never hurts to have them. That said, it's your decision whether you want to go through with it. If you're ever interested, I'm always willing to nominate you. Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 20:38, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

- Yea. That a big backlog and not forgetting that Collectonian asked you for some Copy-Editing too. The big bad conjunction GA-rescue + non-English coverage to integrate + other Copy-Editing & clean up :( --KrebMarkt 14:24, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

- Sometimes you really believe that WP:PROD & WP:BEFORE should link to How to use web search engines for dummies. 17 Reviews for that manga on my last count. --KrebMarkt 14:59, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm impressed. I'd seen some reviews and message-board buzz, but hadn't realized it'd gotten THAT much press. I should try it again -- I bounced off the scanlation a few years ago, before it was licensed --as it sounds like the sort of thing I like. —Quasirandom (talk) 15:02, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- This article has enough material to push up to B now ;) What is scary is that the prod nominator mentioned that he/she found nothing with Google. What is remarkable is that series got few fellowing reviewers so reviews piled up quickly. --KrebMarkt 15:28, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Kare First Love chapter list
[edit]Finally finished doing the summaries for List of Kare First Love chapters, though they are all probably too long. Feel like giving it a quick initial CE, if you have time, before I send it off for PR? -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 01:51, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- If you don't mind it taking a couple days. It's been, um, a few years since I read the series and never finished it. —Quasirandom (talk) 03:14, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- No rush...and if you don't want spoilers, would understand if you decline :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 03:18, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Eh -- I'm not likely to finish it anyway. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:00, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Right -- you may have noticed I haven't gotten very far with this. That's because I've slipped into an informal semi-wikibreak: I'm keeping up with conversations and some maintenance work, but aside from an ongoing project I'm not doing any article development. Mostly, it's a matter of too much going on IRL, rather than not enough time. Dunno when I'll be back full time, to be honest, so if you're looking to get this done anytime soon, you may want to tap someone else. —Quasirandom (talk) 16:55, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- No worries, I'm not in a big hurry, got an FAC and an FL going on plus a peer review. Still need to cut down the plots some more so no rush. If the rest finish and I'm ready to take it to FL before you get back, then I'll tap :) -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 17:37, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
LOL I noticed an IP tried to delete Nou Nou Hau. I find that very funny: since when can IPs delete articles, and two, if we put that up for deletion than Afro Samurai should be deleted too, because that's a dōjinshi as well. :P Thanks for helping out. :) – J U M P G U R U ■ask㋐㋜㋗■ 18:33, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, but Afro Samurai is a more, shall we say, obviously notable work, passing WP:BK C3 in addition to being licensed in English. Still, a recurrent magazine is not just a dōjinshi, and headlining an exhibit in Berlin is an clear claim to notability -- too clear to let is slide away without debate. —Quasirandom (talk) 19:43, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

The AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD comes closest to describing how I act in practice. —Quasirandom (talk) 19:58, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
- Well too true. I have the ominous feeling that some editors have hard time to accept that something can be notable with just non-English RS. People and their contradictions...

Request for your services
[edit]Sorry to be a pain, but I have a copyedit request for you :p I don't know how familiar you are with Love Hina, but is there any chance you can fit it in somewhere? Theres no rush unlike Lupin, so whenever you fancy doing it (if you do it). If the plot is a problem if you don't know the series, then I can work around that, I'm more concerned with the general flow of the article. - I tend to do badly with shonen romantic comedies in general, unless (as with Ranma 1/2) there's something else seriously fun going on. Something about the combination of teh shtupids and female characters having no independent agency outside of the hero rubs me the wrong way. I do better with seinen or shoujo romcoms. —Quasirandom (talk) 00:20, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- See, I have difficulty thinking of Ranma as a romcom, for me it's more of general comedy/martial art series with just a sprinkle of romcom. Urusei Yatsura is much more of a romcom then Ranma I'd say, for the Ataru/Lum/Shinobu/Mendou love rectangle. Dandy Sephy (talk) 00:35, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- And, yeah, because I like Urusei Yatsura a lot less. About the only shonen romcoms I like are by Adachi, and that's because they're sports manga (when he isn't off doing something else weird). —Quasirandom (talk) 14:04, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm a sucker for romcoms myself (or any romance manga, with the exception of yaoi), but then, there's really not much I don't like (I even enjoy series that many other fans pan), so maybe I'm just weird. =D 「ダイノガイ千?!」? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:48, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Yo,
Dropping few lines here about stuff from the French front as i don't think that would interest more than people usually watching your page & you ;)
Ok, I got French reviews Bitter Virgin vol. 1 which is currently in my subpages and will start translating chunks this week-end. Wow, i will translate stuff again after 4 months or more of translation burn out.
Another things Mayu Sakai's Nagatachō Sutoroberī got French reviews too but it was pruned to the point that re-creating an article is meehhh unless someone want to work on the lamest Shojo series. The first volume had the the dubious honor to receive the worst rating possible from French Animeland symbolized by a coffin. [2].
--KrebMarkt 21:40, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
- Worst series shoujo is a distinction of a sort. After all, Manos the Hands of Fate has an article for being described one of the worst movies ever. But there's multiple references to back that claim up.
- I'm not sure how much I'll be able to help with the translations, at least immediately. I'm kinda boxed into a couple of hard deadlines over the next couple weeks, and then the holiday season is upon us. I'll see what I can do once you have something. - Do not forget to contextualize the round table. From the outside it's a round table in an obscure blog between non persons. Refining reveal that Dirk Deppey, Noah Berlatsky & Bill Randall are regular contributors to The Comics Journal, more Dirk Deppey was editor-in-chief between 2004-2006. I would be way happier if they did the same round table not in blog like form but in clean and nice old school article hosted by the TCJ. It's awful to explain the ins and outs. --KrebMarkt 17:17, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

- Dang. I like that series.
- I do check ANN, but not every day. I've spliced in the ending of the series, but both articles could use a little cleanup. - Yea. I will see what i can do this week-end.
- Off-topic comment: There is rather hardcore counter review of Town of Evening Calm in the The Comics Journal blog Hooded utilitarian certainly worth reading but doubly awful to use due it's on a blog even if one officially supported by the Comics Journal and the uber undue weight PoV of the reviewer. --KrebMarkt 20:02, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Fumiyo Kōno
[edit]I bit the bullet and made the Fumiyo Kōno article, hope this helps. The information in the german equivalent doesn't seem to be drawn from the sources it lists, which makes it hard to translate to English and still comply with BLP. :( I'd thought that maybe the German edition of Town of Evening Calm may have been thorough and that could have been used as a source, but Town of Evening Calm doesn't seem to have a German edition? --Malkinann (talk) 22:39, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- I will source the list of works if that can help. --KrebMarkt 22:45, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I know, there's no German edition of Town, no. Somewhat to my surprise. I hadn't gotten to checking the sources -- beyond noting the article was there. Looking some more, I suspect a large part of it was translated from the ja.wiki version. —Quasirandom (talk) 23:50, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- Cheers. :) At least the article's made now and shows her notability, which is better than a redlink. I've also put a redlink for her other award winning work on the requests page, where it will probably remain until someone can translate the Japanese article. The funny thing is, that the German article for Kono seems to be more comprehensive than the Japanese article? --Malkinann (talk) 00:54, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- Sourcing as complete as possible. Note copy editing is required. There are bigs delays between serialization and first prints. --KrebMarkt 09:49, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
- Cheers. :) At least the article's made now and shows her notability, which is better than a redlink. I've also put a redlink for her other award winning work on the requests page, where it will probably remain until someone can translate the Japanese article. Tezuka
[edit]If the only thing preventing you from helping with the article is your "undereducation" in the subject, the official english Tezuka site has plenty of info that can be used for the details of his life.[13] That would allow me to concentrate on book sources. If on the other hand there are other reasons, then fair enough! Dandy Sephy (talk) 16:43, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- Well, there's also a lack of time, which has been irregular of late. I'm limiting myself to small editing projects that I can slip into random spare minutes, as they appear. Sorry! —Quasirandom (talk) 19:15, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
Wandering Son copyedit request
[edit]I come here today to illicit your cooperation with the copyediting of this article, as I feel now is the time to take it to WP:GAN. Further, I would like to take List of Wandering Son chapters to WP:FLC before the end of this month if at all possible.
PS: I would recommend an archive of your talk page; I got a major nostalgia blast when I saw that old message of me to you from over two years ago, and it also aids in the load time of this page (and is gentler on the servers).--十八 04:16, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- *catching up after time offline* I've been thinking of starting to copyedit the articles anyway, though I should warn you that I'm rather slow right now. If you're looking to take the chapters to FLC by the end of the month, I should probably start on that first. —Quasirandom (talk) 16:18, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
- The main article, I feel, is more important (as in, getting the main article up to GA prior to taking the list to FLC might be better in the nomination process, plus there's more to copyedit in the main article).--十八 00:51, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for your input
[edit]I see you have fixed some formatting errors and content issues on a Makoto Call! page that I updated last few days. Thank you for the input. There are plenty of under-rated or unknown good titles sitting around, and I am sure I will stumble onto in the future. Please let me know if help are needed. Scchan (talk) 03:52, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- De nada. My main, well, task I suppose you could call it is fixing up articles, by way of bumping them up a rating or two -- stubs to start-class, start to C-class, C to B-class. Swotting up the wikiformatting is a big part of that. If I get a chance in the next day or two, and you don't get to it first, I'll try to template the volume releases into the standard table. —Quasirandom (talk) 04:10, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- I added some more info to that Makoto Call page. While I do not speak French, but I have the original "raw"; so I can probably add the information based on the original source. I hope you also do not mind I use your formatting in that other page I was working on (the one that was nominated for delete - Baggataway, I have added some more info to that page as well. Scchan (talk) 17:54, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Even if I did mind -- which I don't -- edits on Wikipedia are GFDL and so copyable. But if you have the raws, then you should be able to find on the copyright pages which magazine issues the first and last chapters were serialized in. I think in the early '90s, they were annotating that in ShoComi series. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:03, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- I updated the first serialization date on the page; unfortunately, the original tankōbon raw only has the first serialization information, but not the last one. May be it is listed in the visual novel copy of it (which I do not have). Scchan (talk) 15:57, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
- The last serialization should be in the last volume. If the scanners didn't include that, then, hmm. Time to ask around on various manga forums, to see if anyone has a copy. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:05, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
- That is what I think as well, but there is no date printed for last serialization on last volume. Considering to my best of knowledge that no one ever scanlated (one can forget about licensing) this, it will be highly unlikely to get more publishing information out from fans. I can continue plug in plot related info on that specific article. Anyway, there are a lot of manga titles will never see much light. Scchan (talk) 16:49, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Dusting my userspace
[edit]Hi,
Do you have some time to for User:KrebMarkt/Bitter Virgin, i dropped in the talk page translations of French reviews. There are enough coverages to get the article back to mainspace just that i'm clearly not good (enough) at writing reception section of article.
Thanks. --KrebMarkt 15:32, 10 April 2010 (UTC)
- Not immediately, but I should be able to get to it in a bit. Lemme add it to my current To Do list. —Quasirandom (talk) 14:07, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
- No problem. Real life first and i get into the queue. Maybe we can do a DYK for this one if we trim it down. Then again there is no hurry. --KrebMarkt 14:29, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
- Just so you know, this is currently the next thing to do on my list (yes, I really keep one) -- but after finishing the various cleanup edits on Cross Game and its lists, which will take some time, and who knows, might even include a peer review or two and a run at FLC. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:10, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
- I saw your very active edits. I must stop procrastinating and update the Aria episodes list with the official English Origination episode titles. --KrebMarkt 18:13, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
- I hear you. Working on Aria (various cleanup, including incorporating the latest reviews) is still lower down my list. —Quasirandom (talk) 19:18, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Reviewer granted
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:39, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
- Thankee. I, uh, think. —Quasirandom (talk) 18:09, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Scary
[edit]Did someone pushed the berserk button over the anime/manga project?
I'm completely drained :(
Dropping stuff here that are reading & worth keeping up with:
- Xavier Guilbert gives his takes on scanlation note that he is/was a sell manager for a video game company. So he knows about both piracy & sells ;)
- Round table how to sell more art/niche manga. Part 1: Erica Friedman Part 2: Brigid Alverson I await Ed Chavez contribution
--KrebMarkt 21:06, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- Someone got into a DBZ snit, I think. Freaky times. —Quasirandom (talk) 21:07, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- Can only laugh until it hurts sometimes. I almost forgot to mention Manga/Manhwa Moveable Feast. While not all the reviewers can qualify as experts (WP:SPS), it's still many times worth to keep tab with it. --KrebMarkt 21:19, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- That first link (du9.org) is innnnteresting. Nice to see some data back my gut instinct, that sales are down period, without a correlation to scanlations. —Quasirandom (talk) 21:34, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Your Cross Game edit summary question
[edit]Re: this diff
かもしんない is a colloquial shortened form of かもしれない. :) ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 02:28, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
- That's shirenai? Oooo-kay. *adds another unexpected colloquial contraction to The List* Thanks! —Quasirandom (talk) 02:53, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Empress Jito
[edit]Your edit summary mentioned the Japanese Wikipedia, but the alternate immina come from a reliable, published source. I reverted
- Empress Jitō's given name was Unonosarara (鸕野讚良), or alternately Uno.<:ref name="b270">Brown, D. (1979). Gukanshō, p. 270.</ref>
Maybe I've misunderstood what you were intending to do? --Tenmei (talk) 04:58, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, no, that was what I was intending to do, but it turns out I was wrong: The kanji given can be read as either Unonosarara or Unonosasara, and she also had the alternate (possibly short? I'm still unclear on this part) name Uno, which I hadn't realized at the time. Trying another edit to reflect this. —Quasirandom (talk) 16:02, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Romanization for words of English origin
[edit]On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).
Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.
One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.
What this invitation is:
- You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.
What this invitation is not:
- This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
- This is not a vote on compromises either.
It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:29, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
Re: Wandering Son
[edit]As you may or may not have seen, Wandering Son passed GA, thanks in part to your partial copyedit of the article earlier this year. Now that it's passed, I now turn to List of Wandering Son chapters which you said you would copyedit (granted that was in 2009...). I would like to get the list passed by the end of this year, and I'm bound to ask for other copyeditors for help in the case that you are unwilling or unavailable. Just though I'd try you first since you've done some copyediting of the series before.--十八 08:56, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- I would like to copyedit it, but to be honest, my life is busy enough at the moment I cannot in good conscience promise I'd be able to get to it any time soon. (As you may have noticed, my editing has been scaled waaay back, the past several months.) If you are unable to find another copy editor, feel free to ping me again to see if things have gotten less hectic on my end. Gomenasai. —Quasirandom (talk) 21:52, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
