Who played the game??

[edit]

Did anyone who wrote on this article ever played the game?? There are many embarrassing mistakes...

  1. The game does not support heroes "which are always by themselves"
  2. artillery have only one (1) (steam tank) or 4 units (canon, mortar etc)
  3. there is no regiment with 50 members...in the game the grudgebringer infantry have 20 members and are the largest regiment
  4. in the campaign there is no possibility to "buy" new equipment. you can captured it on the battlefield but nothing more.
  5. you cannot "add" new regiments to your rooster, they will join you or not (but you cannot decide if you want them)
  6. why did you removed the links but let the "reviews" there? the "fansitelink" have more informations and is more of value (infos about units, new units etc) than the "gamespot review".
  7. etc
  8. etc

Any suggestions, ideas, criticism, before i edit the page? (btw. please play the game first). --83.189.1.9 (talk) 16:00, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A few suggestions:
  • 1)Yes, it does. Wizards, for instance, are always by themselves.
  • 3)There are enemy regiments much larger than those available to the player, including ones up to 50 individuals in size.
  • 5)It doesn't mention 'you' (the player) adding regiments to the roster, it says "New units, including allied Elven and Dwarf units, can also be added at certain points in the campaign, often as rewards for successful completion of critical missions." Nowhere does it mention player choice.
  • 6)Fansites are not allowed on Wikipedia. They are not reliable sources.Mr T (Based) (talk) 17:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The first 2 paragraph in the gameplay section discuss the singleplayer mode and the last the multiplayer (because the last starts with: "Dark Omen also has a multiplayer component"), so:
  • 3) regiments can have a max size of 32 units (because the data-structure allow only 32 bytes or the game crashs). And in the game there is nowhere a regiment with 50 units...or please tell me the level.
  • 1) wizards are no heroes, a hero is e.g. Morgan Bernhardt but he is not for himself ("Except for heroes, which are always by themselves" is wrong).
  • 6) I think a linked homepage should give a additional benefit to the reader, and the reader have definitely a additional benefit with the fansite (infos about the game, regiments etc) neighter with the gamespot-text (everything from gamespot is in the wiki).
  • 5) ok you're right
PS: i don't want annoy you, i want to improve the page

I agree that 1) is misleading (heroes are not always by themselves), and you seem to know what you're talking about with 3), so I changed this section to address those. It also seemed better to drop the mention of artillery unit size, which addresses 2). As for point 4), how about when an artillery crew flees the battle and leaves their cannon behind? It's been a while since I played the game, but I think you have to pay to replace it. Ironfrost (talk) 05:50, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, you have only to replace the crew, not the canon/mortar itself. 83.191.180.142 (talk) 10:08, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:WHDO-day.jpg

[edit]

Image:WHDO-day.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
