DS version?

[edit]

Do you think there should be a seperate article about the DS version of ThemePark? They made a seperate article about the Sonic 1 port to the GBA Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis. User:RaviC 16:18, 11 March 2007

Exactly. There should be another article as there are many differences in the upcoming DS release, and even a new logo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.10.193.138 (talkcontribs) 20:24, 11 March 2007
Totally Agreed. Now, who will start the Page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.227.110.134 (talkcontribs) 20:31, 11 March 2007

Don't forget Diddy Kong Racing and Diddy Kong Racing DS! Get the page started someone with an account! User:172.215.146.219

I have started a basic article on Theme Park DS. Feel free to improve it, as it is not large and as informative as it should be. Well, Enjoy! User:RaviC

Merge proposal

[edit]

"There's a new logo" is possibly the worst justification for a separate article I've ever seen. Yes, there are differences, but it's nowhere near being an entirely new game. Just because the Sonic fanboys forced through a separate article (which is IMHO dubious, but at least they have the content; long articles should probably be split) is no excuse to do the same for every game; e.g. Spy vs. Spy (computer game) had Spy vs. Spy (video game) merged into it.

There seems to be a mentality amongst some Wikipedians that a separate article proves the importance of something, and that keeping stuff together is the opposite. Result; proliferation of pointless separate articles for very similar things, when the information would actually be stronger kept together. Fourohfour 20:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(Note: Following comments were written after I placed a request for feedback from otherwise neutral parties via the Wikiproject Video Games discussion page. Should have mentioned that beforehand, sorry.) Fourohfour 19:29, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with merge : If the DS version differed significantly from the previous versions of the game, then a separate article would be justified. I do not see how a separate article could be justified in this instance. --Oscarthecat 20:47, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with merge: If there were significant differences, the DS version would easily have its own article. Many games with non-notable ports are combined in the same article. --Scottie_theNerd 03:24, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Support merge It's effectively the same game, this article (depressingly) is a stub. Instead of making another stubby article, why not improve this article and list any differences with the DS update? ThemePark as a subject is a hell of a lot bigger than this DS release, they're stronger together and would give readers the big picture. QuagmireDog 05:16, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Done. This was a no-brainer really. Chris Cunningham 11:14, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ThemePark-MegaDrive-Logo.PNG

[edit]

Image:ThemePark-MegaDrive-Logo.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Theme Park (video game)Theme Park – "Theme Park" currently redirects to the article amusement park. There is no alternative article with the title "Theme Park" in capitals. The lower case "theme park" serves to redirect people searching for the amusement park article. McPhail (talk) 20:50, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Theme Park", song by the Tubes from Outside Inside (The Tubes album)
"Theme Park", song by the Simpsons from The Streets of Springfield

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

As a matter of fact I only ordered this on eBay for the Saturn yesterday! JAGUAR  22:24, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Theme Park is a construction and management simulation game" - just link Construction and management simulation and write out video game, so it reads as: Theme Park is a construction and management simulation video game
  • "The game is the first instalment in Bullfrog's Theme series and their Designer Series" - does series need to be italicised here?
  • "Development took about a year and a half, and the team were aiming for as much realism as possible" - Development took about a year and a half, with the team aiming for as much realism as possible
  • " Research can also make rides more durable, staff more efficient, and buses larger" - the buses themselves become larger or there are more people in them?
  • "What gets researched, and how much funding goes into it is determined by the player" - how about something like The topic of research and how much funding goes into it is determined by the player
  • "On sandbox, the player doesn't have to worry about those aspects" - informal
  • "The Mega Drive and Super NES versions" - why not SNES?
  • "In an interview, he explained that the primary reason he created Theme Park is because he wanted" - past tense, "was"
  • "simply having fun creating a Theme Park" - no need for capital letters
  • Shift the reception table to the right side
  • The reception section should be in past tense throughout, unless a review is contemporary
  • " but that the Jaguar conversion has confusing menus and dithered text which is excessively difficult to read" - 'had'
  • "Sega Saturn Magazine praised the Saturn version" - no need, we can assume that the Sega Saturn Magazine is reviewing the Saturn version anyway. I'd replace it with "the game". Also, Sam Hickman is the reviewer, so add Sam Hickman of the Sega Saturn Magazine
  • " Jeuxvideo.com commended the visuals and "British" humour" - no need for quote marks
  • "Reviewing the Super NES version" - again, why not SNES?
  • No dead links

This is well researched and solid. On hold JAGUAR  13:16, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Jaguar: How's the article now? I've also added a bit more content. EDIT: I think Designer Series is a trademark, so I'm guessing Series is supposed to be italicised. Adam9007 (talk) 03:12, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great! This should be good to go now as it meets the criteria. Another Bullfrog GA JAGUAR  11:50, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
