Article Re-write needed
[edit]I hate to be the annoying guy here, but this game has been out for quite a few months now and the content of the article is a mix of fact and speculation. There should be enough information to create a decent article on this game, and I thank anyone who contributes to the re-write. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.32.85.82 (talk) 02:09, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've spent a decent amount of time expanding the article including plot, gameplay, battle systems and characters.KiasuKiasiMan (talk) 13:04, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
Stop citing VGchartz
[edit]These guys arent reliable, even on their Japanese numbers which they adjust too.
Ive edited that stuff out once and its already back —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.86.247.47 (talk) 22:30, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
A little soon, don't you think?
[edit]Nothing has been confirmed about the new game. It hasn't been referred to a Star Ocean 4 by any official sources. None of the previous numbered games have ever used roman numerals. The only reason I'm not pressing to have this article deleted is because there's a chance that it could be Star Ocean 4, though it wouldn't be called "Star Ocean IV" so this page would have to be moved eventually.--Claude 01:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Don't worry, I know that. I'm just using it as a tentative title because that's what the link to Final Fantasy Hybrid calls it. I'm well aware that it will probably have a different name. Choogle 07:31, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's still speculation, which isn't allowed; Final Fantasy Hybrid isn't the authority on Star Ocean. Really, this page shouldn't have been made at all until the game was revealed. All it's really saying is "There's a new game announced, and I THINK it might be Star Ocean 4...?"--Claude 20:41, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- :I think this might get deleted in accordance to Wikipedia's Crystal Ball policy.SniperWolf1564 03:30, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, you're a little late. SO4 was indeed confirmed a few weeks back, so this has reason to be here now. It's just that Choogle initially jumped the gun before there was any confirmation of SO4.--Claude 19:18, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
There is a new trailer for the game and it's called Star Ocean 4 so you don't have to delete the page. You are able to see the trailer on youtube.com please go see the trailer for your selves and make your own conclusions. The trailer has been out for a while now, maybe about a month and a half. 10:13 21 January 2008
- It may be called Star Ocean 4. But the new trailer suggests that it is called; Star Ocean: The Last Hope. You can check it on Youtube and Gamersyde.Zeta Nova 10:52, 10 June 2008 (UTC).
- It's called "Star Ocean: The Last Hope" in English and "Star Ocean 4" in Japanese. Check the official site. Kariteh (talk) 17:53, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, speaking about the english version. The U.S branch of SQUARE ENIX may just drop the "4" and just keep the subtitle. In this case; The Last Hope subtitle as compared to S.O 4.Zeta Nova 10:56, 10 June 2008 (UTC).
- That's what I said... Kariteh (talk) 18:01, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
- ^^; lol I meant about the U.S site and the packaging. That the U.S branch would drop the "4". And keep The Last Hope. Like they did with Til the End of Time.Zeta Nova 16:22, 10 June 2008 (UTC).

Warning - Platform still unconfirmed
[edit]Square Enix nor tri-Ace has yet to officially confirm the platform, all the links are simply jumping the gun because they have no real info to go off of. It's speculation.--Claude 02:10, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
Agreed, however i removed the reference to square-enix not naming a platform during TGS on the grounds that the references were irrelevant [one was a n4g that linked to an archive, the other was a wii article], besides the ps3.ign reference in the preceding sentence makes the same point, theres no need to repeat it. 207.210.21.18 (talk) 20:46, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
The console for this game still has not been confirmed yet and it still says ps3/360. The link stating that it will be on 360 has not been confirmed by Tri-Ace/Square Enix. http://www.tri-ace.co.jp/en/product/index.html Please fix it. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.10.190.113 (talk) 00:12, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
"Fixing it" doesn't mean listing it as PS3 exclusive again when the tri-Ace site clearly says that the platform is undetermined (未定 - "mitei" or undetermined). The Syoboonline link provided as a source for the article on RPGFAN does not contain any information about SO4, so either Chris Winkler made the story up, or Syoboonline retracted it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Locasteashenwood (talk • contribs) 15:03, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- It was a hoax from Syoboonline, so it shouldn't require anymore attention.--Claude (talk) 05:12, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Then why do contributors to the page insist on labeling it a PS3 game when tri-Ace still hasn't announced the platform? Locasteashenwood (talk) 13:29, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Vandalism by PS3 fanboys isn't appreciated. Is there any way to lock this page until such time as tri-Ace updates the release information for the game? Locasteashenwood (talk) 21:32, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
So, is the platform still undecided? Is any claim for a platform still speculation? I guess if you were to go on what's happened so far, you might lean towards Ps3. The bottom line though is that it's still not official, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.191.48.27 (talk) 22:48, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
It's just a save bet to leave the platform as TBA until we here something from Square or Tri-Ace. There is this popular story about the article in a Dengeki magazine, which features Playstation games exclusively, however exclusive Xbox magazines have also had articles related to the game, so neither one can be used to try to provide evidence to the contrary. --98.223.40.250 (talk) 19:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, unless you guys missed the new June trailer. It stated that the game will be on 360. Due to the recent official Microsoft Press Conference in Japan.Zeta Nova 10:54, 10 June 2008 (UTC).
Currently 360 exclusive no plans for a PS3 version http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/06/13/square-enix-no-plans-for-star-ocean-on-ps3/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by MattParker 119 (talk • contribs) 21:38, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Console Mayhem
[edit]I understand there is confusion and some people are upset by the console choice, but this section about stating why it is on the 360 and not on the PS3 reads like some strange conversation that doesn't belong. There is really no need for it to be there. It is on the 360 and there are currently no plans for it on the PS3. That is all that needs to be said. --98.223.40.250 (talk) 12:17, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
- watch E3, they just talked about it a few minutes ago.--Jakezing (talk) 19:00, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Character Designer?
[edit]I can't confirm this, but I'm almost positive the character designs are by Katsumi Enami (who unfortunately doesn't have a wikipage. I recognize her art from Baccano!) I don't know exactly how this would be integrated into the article, but I figured it was worth mentioning. You can go to her site and see for yourself. --70.45.225.194 (talk) 05:57, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
The Controversy
[edit]The first time I've done the editing regarding this subject, I'd had this new content deleted by unknown IP. I don't think I've done something not in accordance to wiki's standards. Besides controversy is really happening because of localization changes.
Next time someone erases this content at least state WHY. This a democratic webpage, I will comply to drop this "controversy" subject if enough reason is given. Raelxx (talk) 22:18, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Just for record: it's NOT false info. There are real pictures submitted by Square Enix and people really cancelled the pre-orders. For God sake, I've got references. Ok, nevermind. Leave it. Raelxx (talk) 22:57, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
The whole Controversy thing is just about the anime thing? I thought it had something to do with the one chick with the really big...yeah. I don't see what the big deal is. To me, it really isn't worth including on the page. (I'm not the one deleteing the info by the way)76.182.138.202 (talk) 01:40, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Kenny's voice
[edit]In the entry, it sayd that Kenny was voiced by Naomi Kusumi. And I just have to say...what? I'm fairly sure that his VA is Michael McConnohie. Does anyone have a source for Naomi? 63.229.138.226 (talk) 01:16, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- Eh, nevermind. Naomis is his JAPANESE Actor. My bad. 63.229.138.226 (talk) 01:19, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Sales
[edit]Actually, Star Ocean is the fastest selling Japanese 360 game of all time. Blue Dragon and Tales of Vesperia are lifetime sales figures.
Previous best 1st week numbers for a 360 game are: The Last Remnant - 102k Tales of Vesperia - 101k Infinite Undiscovery - 86k http://www.vg247.com/2009/02/24/star-ocean-4-does-proper-sales-on-japanese-debut —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.109.30.247 (talk) 21:49, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
No Star Ocean 4 for PS3 anymore...
[edit]However, PS3 has/had already Disgaea 3 which is now PS3-exclusive.
As for SOTLH, it is X360 Exclusive? How come! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.158.32.71 (talk) 15:53, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Copyvios
[edit]The story, characters, and gameplay sections were complete copy-pastes from other sources. They've been removed, please rewrite them (and perhaps combine everything into a plot summary, rather than having a list of characters). --Golbez (talk) 17:46, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Star Ocean: The Last Hope for PS3 as Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
[edit]According to Famitsu, the game is being ported to the PS3. [1] That's the link. Last time I tried to fix that a bot undid it because the link wasn't within guidelines or something, someone else wanna give it a shot?

Last in Series?
[edit]I was just on Gamespot a few seconds ago and it stated in an interview that the Star Ocean series was not set to end with SO4 which is a complete contradiction of what the article says. 67.142.161.35 (talk) 02:30, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Of course it wasn't set to "end" story-wise with this game. Development-wise is a different story. 24.241.229.253 (talk) 20:00, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Online Multiplayer?
[edit]One of the modes listed in the info box near the top is 'Online Multiplayer'; is that correct? I don't recall there being any ZOMG Super Arumat Deathmatch!!1! mode to choose from. I'm not very versed on wiki markup, and am not sure of myself enough to take it out myself. 167.104.7.1 (talk) 20:46, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
bugs
[edit]this game is a bit buggy. there is equipment that lists the wrong defense values for example. the silver bangle say defense +10. it should have said +15 because it increases defense by 15. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.103.135 (talk) 01:21, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't have the game. If what you say is true, then it is a localisation bug/mistake (or possibly wrong even in the original). But I hardly think that it's a notable enough fault/bug/mistake to be included in the article.202.53.199.23 (talk) 03:48, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
i edited out a minor error
[edit]the year where the game happen is 2087 while the article said 2097. i took the year directly from the box of the game itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.103.135 (talk) 02:21, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
