Savestate
[edit]There seems to be some overlap between this article and the Savestate article, which discusses saved states from a general emulation perspective. Should something be done about this? I started that article, not knowing about this one, but I don't really think that they should be merged, since this article is too game-specific. Since Saved state was merged into this article, though, it seems that some might disagree, so I thought I'd mention it. Amaurea 14:08, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Improving NPOV
[edit]The article originally stated:
- a game would be too easy if the player was allowed to save the game at any time.
However I feel this is not NPOV. IMHO, there is never need to stop people from saving to make the game harder. It should be up to the player to choose how they want to use save games. If a game becomes too easy if saves are misused, then it is the players fault. I've never had a game where I'm thankful for the inability to save (although some games are more annoying then others). I'm not suggesting we go into this detail it's unsourced anyway but hopefully you can see why I feel it not NPOV to imply the game would be too easy otherwise. Rather, I've changed it do stress it's an attempt to change the difficulty. I actually feel it would be better to say 'it's an attempt to better dictate the difficulty level' but I'll leave it as is now. Nil Einne 20:11, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
First game to have save games
[edit]I know it's hard to define a save game since the password type. Is it possible to show which games first had save games for consoles and or pc? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.181.16.27 (talk) 22:32, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Merge proposal
[edit]Quicksave into game save since quicksaving is merely a type of game saving, using a single button.--ZXCVBNM [TALK] 19:26, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- I support this merge. Playclever (talk) 22:40, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Save sharing
[edit]That section appears NPOV. The addition of some sort of virtual progress indicator is nothing new, so why are save sharers considered cheaters now and not before? Back when computer games came out on cartridges and cassette tapes people were already discussing and comparing progress in various gaming magazines. - Truce (talk) 10:18, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Just dropping this off
[edit]Some save-state criticism I happened to find: http://www.retrocollect.com/Articles/are-save-states-making-retro-games-too-easy-a-modern-gamers-weak.html
Save state hacking description
[edit]Save states are not 'hacked' when performing tool-assisted speed-runs, but as the save states are obtained through playing the game (albeit only on the emulator itself). I am therefore removing the sentence that says that this happens. 180.200.138.67 (talk) 08:46, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
Save scumming usage
[edit]The phrase save scumming (usually spelled separately) is here introduced as a form of cheating in a suspended save kind of game... but it's not only applied to those games but also save anywhere in which context it's often but not exclusively seen as cheating (but there's hardly any practical reason to enter that argument anyway). Editing the article accordingly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.231.5.30 (talk) 14:11, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Cloud savegame
[edit]Hello, the article doesn't mention the current trend of cloud savegames, and its relationship with always-on DRM. Please add a section about that. 200.58.135.162 (talk) 19:27, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
