Rising Force, RFO, Romance & Fantasy
[edit]I fixed it to say Rising Force aka Romance & Fantasy, because the Codemasters (Non-Philippines English publisher) site clearly says that "“RF” stands for “Rising Force” so the full title of the game would be “Rising Force Online”. However the game is being commonly known as “RFOnline” or “RFO” for short. There is also a descriptive term for the game as “Fantasy and Romance” which is sometimes confused with the name."--Capibara 02:14, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- @Capibara: I know that. In fact, RF was originally titled as "Romance & Fantasy Online". Somewhere along the way it got changed to "Rising Force", or RF for short. At everyone else, thanks. I'm going to add equipment effects later. --Izaak 10:07 PM, 10 April 2006 (GMT)

RFOnline Balance, Chip Wars
[edit]I was wondering - would it be appropriate to discuss, in detail, the current state of US RF Online's balance mechanics and Chip Wars controversy? I've been told that there are some servers that are currently suffering from overly unbalanced gameplay between the three races. --Sqrfrk 00:06, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]I've been working on cleaning up this article. There are various errors, and I don't have time to fix them all, I'm doing it bit by bit. Please help! Thank you! :) I also cleaned up the discussion page, headings are your friends people! Altair 15:37, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

free&premium accounts or simply pay to play?
[edit]might be worth adding if this game is free, has some sort of premium account system or requires a payed membership, i myself only looked up RF online on wikipedia because i didn't want to download the client and find i had to pay to use it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.106.72.222 (talk) 00:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC).
- Currently on most servers, RF online is free, with the exception of the Philippines, which also has a premium account service in addition of the F2P or Item Mall service. This Premium Account features x2 mods on XP, PT, and Drops. JediSentinel 13:51, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
According to the official forums there seems to be popular to ban accounts for "Micropayments declined" even tho the banned users claimed to have used "free" accounts. I dont think its "just another scam" but as far as I can understand its not free to play. It uses something called trial or retail accounts, the latter you can buy somewhere and then play. Also they use fileplanet that usually costs money to use. I would like to change my previous statement. Its most likely some sort of scam! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.226.164.137 (talk) 09:22, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
this doesn't seem to be free anymore. The page for key generation is currently redirecting to the main page.76.180.55.81 (talk) 05:41, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I have added some clarifications for the Philippine servers, as the original entry only indicated the procedure for the CM servers. It would probably be beneficial if the other country servers can be updated as well --Thyalla (talk) 13:34, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Suggestion: Add current status of different language RFOs
[edit]RFO in different countries is not "synchronized".
Tremendous dramas are/were upon ru and codemasters' RFOs.
Below info is provided as "AFAIK". =)
Russian:
buggy open beta Episode 1, Giga 4 went into buggy "something" on April 19, 2007. It wasn't officially called release, but it's "Episode 2, part 1, update 2". Cash shop (sells special consumables, gems, jewels and other stuff for new currency, that's bought for real money) was added along with numerous other unexpected changes, which caused (imho) a definite recess in game popularity. People do argue on this and some are content with the update, but uproar can't be denied, and population did dwindle.
There are ordinary accounts. Hardly playable, actually. Item drop from mobs is rather low and doesn't cover the expenses in the end game.
Situation improves if one purchases a premium account option at ~$10 equivalent per month. It's possible to farm mobs for loot and stay frosty. In addition, premium account increases rates of Exp and PT acquisition from fighting.
Some new updates were expected in the late summer to autumn 2007, if i recall it right. I can't find a confirmation though now.
Conspiracy theories about drop rates being overly decreased for free accounts are, of course, there.
Korean:
According to CM forum officials, there's Ep. 2, p. 1, update 4 on korean servers. same sources indicate that update to have been branded 'designed-to-make-people-leave-the-game' or something by the majority of korean playerbase voted. According to russian official publisher team members, the balancing is quite similar (now it certainly becomes "was", since ruRFO gets adjusted, too). They also say, that krRFO is F2P (free-to-play) with cash shop and premium accounts equivalent is said to work as follows. While one is playing RFO from certain internet cafes, he receives bonuses similar to premium accounts' of ruRFO. A portion of a bill for cafe services goes to developers' pockets.
Codemasters (Europe/US):
Atm, CM is still Ep.1, Giga 4 with some self programmed additions and balance modifications. Not sure how things are with subscription fees.
Forums of CM indicate, that extremely long delay (while being fed the promises of Ep.2 update) has caused great share of population to get bored or frustrated and leave the game. Once upon a time ( ^^ ), there was a patch from korea containing Ep.2, but it wouldn't even work for Codemasters test team and so it was sent back. Continiuous negotiations have reached an agreement recently. It seems, that CM will have to back off with their inacceptance of cash shop introduction. Current plans/promises for CM are Ep.2, p.1, update 5, an update currently developed by koreans for koreans.
No idea about other RFOs.

RF in the Philippines
[edit]Was made under the 1 and a half years experience in-game, plus observation of the populace and their sentiments in the forums (Official Boards). And I agree to the person's opinion above: For Koreans and by Koreans, which I also stated in one of the bullets or points that CCR (which is evidently composed of Koreans) wasn't able to foresee or EVEN analyze that the trends, population distribution, etc. of the Philippine servers isn't like those of Korea's servers. Hence, the new problems that added to the old ones in Episode 2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ForYourEyesOnly (talk • contribs) 04:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
-The "Data Did Not Match" Bug is not caused by the Stealth Pots, it is caused by Accretians deploying Siege Kits and then using the "sit" emoticon. -King
there are other ways of activating the "data did not match" aka the "DDNM" bug... one of which is by using stealth pots then either by summoning, using a MAU, or by deploying siege kit...JediSentinel 05:06, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
RF In The Philippines Part 2
[edit]Copy pasted parts of the original due to some people deleting the whole segment. This is not anything derogatory for the game, but puts in light, the points from where the developers and publishers can help each other to make the game better. Fixed the DDNM statement.
gameplay?
[edit]What's the gameplay like? Why do none of these mmorpg articles cover that? Do you just click on things and they die? Do they have instanced dungeons? What? Ohemgee 06:22, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- very few quests (1 every x level it seems like, compared to X per level in wow), very much grinding, no possibility to give points to skills or attributes , i have not seen much of a story after a few hours of playing the game. Elvis 16:14, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- its not 1 every x level... its every level you will get a quest... and some quests lead to other quests, like the bulky lunker and small lazhuadian quests... and there are really no attributes, which is good, since there are no specific builds... rather there is the PT system wherein you train combat skills like melee, range, race specialty (launcher for accretia, unit/MAU for bellato, and summon for cora), force powers, shield (not available for accretia), and defense... the first 4 gives you added attack and accuracy while using these weapons and also stamina points or SP to let you run for distances, shield give you added block rate, and defense gives you added hp... skill PTs are also available, raising these gives you FP (counterpart of SP in other games), while levelling the skills themselves gives them better damage and better animation... lastly there is the craft PTs which are only available for specialists... training them lets you craft more advanced equipment as well as increase their success rate... and for the story, there is a massive PvP event every 8 hrs called the chip wars... joining this gives you extra cash...JediSentinel 05:17, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- hmm, pvp was not the same as story the last time i checked. and when noone in the game knows where toget new quest besides the automaticly given, then there is something wrong i think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.227.38.135 (talk) 22:24, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Page is heavily outdated!
[edit]This page is extremely outdated and is of low quality in my opinion. I am a player of this game and will be heavily reorganising and editing this wiki.
Harisen 12:03, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- But please stop inserting original research and personal essays, don't turn the page into a game guide. Do a draft before inserting a lot of new info.--Svetovid 14:55, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Okay my bad but most of this information is incredibly inaccurate. It needs reorganising. Harisen 14:59, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Rewrite the current content before adding new?--Svetovid 19:20, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
A full page edit would take too long for me, I was trying to comparmentalize because organising stuff sucks for me. I think you could do with reading it because I really wasn't making it a guide and most of it's pretty valid. sources are generally the forums and my own experience. It's hard to get accurate sources because there aren't any, the codemasters site (rf-onlinegame.com) is even more outdated than this one. Harisen (talk) 11:49, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
I'll try to add a more updated screenshot for the game when I can, I'll also try to keep an eye on this game article. It needs more recent updates and a complete overhaul. Ulaire (talk) 11:56, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Image Roundup
[edit]I've taken the time to input some images into the article to give it a better feel. I especially like the image in the 'Gameplay' Section. It goes wonderfully with the description given in the mentioned section. Ziros (talk) 03:47, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Somebody removed the pictures... however I think that the picture currently in gameplay is heavily outdated. I suggest a picture coming from the current patch of the game. Ulaire (talk) 20:28, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
My old edit included several images to depict several different areas, they've most likely been deleted (I took them specifically for the edit) but if you wish I can probably supply a few more. Harisen (talk) 18:41, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Equipment
[edit]I've done what I can for the moment but this still a fair bit of work and I'd prefer it if someone could help clean it up.
This needs to be cut into Armour, Weapons and accessories; there's no point it being so long. Shields could probably be cut down further. Technically cloaks and jetpacks are the same thing and could maybe fall under armour. I'll provide a screenshot for 'the cloak' when I have a spare moment as I really think it should get a section to itself-- it's not really equipment if you can't equip it. :/ Harisen (talk) 20:25, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- I've added a section in the shield part replacing 'shield specialist' with tank, as that's what players refer to them as and it's a legitimate term in gaming. if anyone could help linking it to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tank_%28computer_gaming%29 instead of the main tank page I'd be grateful. Harisen (talk) 10:15, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Storyline? o0
[edit]Are there any sources for the current storyline, as if I recall accretians were certainly not criminals and were scientists that created teh bellato and cora.
ah, I found it, here you go. I'll attempt the storyline section in a bit, as always please feel free to clear it up. Codemasters Rf online site
Harisen (talk) 20:39, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
We have a bit more indepth lore which we were given permission to reproduce on our site Rising Force Wiki. Its got all the rf-online stuff, and the parts that were added by Alchemic Dream before Codemasters gave them the boot.

New Rising Force Online Reference Website
[edit]Recently started up a new RF-Online resource to basically take over from rf-online-wiki since its been left to rot. Im going to add the link to the external links section (Rising Force Wiki). If anyone has any objections then please let me know.

Needs severe cleanup
[edit]This article reads too much like a game guide instead of a simple encyclopedia article. It also has been creeping way too far over the line on overuse of non-free images. I'm not familiar enough with the subject to attempt the cleanup on my own, but any help in this direction would be welcome... (ESkog)(Talk) 03:32, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- I second this, I took a look at this article and I almost mistook it for a game FAQ of some sort. Not what I expected from an encyclopedia. King Arthur6687 (talk) 08:29, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- Seconded, someone has added a lot of images from the codemasters site to the board to illustrate each class and it really isn't needed. set it back to how it was until it can be properly set out in a more compact format. Harisen (talk) 20:36, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hey we really need to undo most of this stuff-- it's just copypasta, not even the game is structured this badly. Harisen (talk) 19:23, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Codemasters mismanagement
[edit]I believe a section should be added, as due to the North american and European localisation's severe mismanagement has driven too many players away from the game. As of now, they are UNABLE to provide essential services such as adequate GM support and Ingame events. another example is the price of cash shop items; compared with other companies such as levelUP! games and even other codemasters games with a cash shop, RFo has an incredibly high cost-per-credit of cashshop items. Harisen (talk) 20:34, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Players here in the Philippines under LevelUp's a bit upset for the services specially the Cheat Program blocker. They keep blocking account specially veteran players without taking consideration to resolve Bugs & Hacks.
"Some" players say that CM has capability of blocking those third party programs which veretan player needs for the sake of game integrity, some how GMs in LevelUp are making there Item mall & Premium service (for x2 exp/pt/drop rate) are a bit cheaper. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.112.84.139 (talk) 18:14, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
I've added a small disclaimer regarding closure of RF Online in other countries. Feel free to update if there are any changes.--Thyalla (talk) 14:03, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Discography
[edit]I've made a more detailed entry on the discography for RF Online, seeing as only two countries seem to have specialised songs for the game. This is also to help give credtis to the original vocalist of the theme song, in contrast to the more popularly known japanese singer for the japanese soundtrack --Thyalla (talk) 13:34, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
I've made a small edit, where I was informed that Kevin Roy is still the vocalist of Razorback. If anybody has more updated information, please feel free to make the changes. Thyalla (talk) 01:46, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Open back up RFO
[edit]Man they should just go on with PlayNC and get their crap lunched from those server they have done a wonderful job providing services for Guild wars, City of heroes(villains), Tabula Rasa and a few more MMO games.--24.92.180.7 (talk) 06:53, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well they have, playrf and I think it's going much smoother, lol --04:30, 8 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.72.71.17 (talk)
