Talk:Overwatch animated media
Possible rename and expand to cover all OW-related media (comics, dev vids, etc.)?
[edit]I wonder if it makes sense to expand the scope of this to cover all OW-related media, including comics, art book(s), the dev streams where they are notable (broadly that they are done, but noting the example of Kaplan's Christmas-related one), etc. --Masem (t) 17:09, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- Rename to "Overwatch media" and merge the Digital Comics and Pornography articles. None of them are so large as to need a sizesplit, all are media related to OW, whether first party or third. -- ferret (talk) 17:26, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
- I completely forgot about at least the Porn article. That I would support, including any significant fan-base related stuff that is of note. --Masem (t) 17:32, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
I'll call to reiterate renaming this to "Overwatch media" as there is now going to be at least one novel coming out [1]. I'm not sure if we need to move the porn into this but certainly digital comics. --Masem (t) 17:02, 6 October 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. I believe the comic series and the animated media are both different enough and notable enough on their own. Perhaps we could make an Overwatch in other media article similar to how Spider-Man in other media or Superman in other media exists. This could provide a short outline or summarization of all the additional media (comics, novel, animated shorts) while still retaining the animated media and comic series articles, as they both merit their own stand-alone articles. Alternatively, we could just provide a more detailed outline of the additional media in Overwatch (video game)#Related media and merchandise. I wish the animated shorts series had an official series name, because then we could've just named the animated media article that instead of having a rather broad description for the title. As an alternative suggestion, I would like to include not just animated media released outside of the game, but I think this article should also cover and list animated media produced for in-game use. The "Calling" (Sojourn) short started out this way (in-game only) before later being released officially on YouTube. Other animated shorts of significance include the introduction to the Retribution game mode (Reaper/Reyes, Moira, McCree/Cassidy, and Genji), and the intro and outro cinematics for Storm Rising, Invasion: Resistance (Rio), Liberation (Toronto), and Ironclad (Gothenburg). Of particular note, we see Pharah, Baptiste, and Torbjörn for the first time in full cinematic animation, and Zarya reappears as well. Dogman15 (talk) 21:04, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
Hanamura Showdown
[edit]Should Hanamura Showdown be listed? Oornery (talk) 13:13, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Oornery: sorry it took so long, but Hanamura Showdown is now included. Thanks for the suggestion :) Soulbust (talk) 23:38, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
