The genre of the game was changed relatively recently from racing to Vehicular Combat. While Onrush straddles the line between what a racing game is and what it isn't. I think it fits far more in the Racing genre than it does the vehicular combat one. The latter is almost exclusively used to refer to arena based combat games such as Twisted Metal.
