The Journal of Dr. Cain
[edit]Should a mention or transcription of The Journal of Dr. Cain be made in the Story section here? Or should it be discussed in its own article, or not at all? As it's a rather lengthy (in Wikipedia terms) piece, if it's to be transcribed it should probably have its own article. What about offsite linking? (For those not in the know, this piece describes the events from immediately before X's discovery up until X's descision to join the Hunters. You can read it in Japanese or in English; the text is mostly the same, but there are severe timescale discrepancies between the two.) --Boco XLVII 5 July 2005 19:55 (UTC)
- I believe a transcription is not an option, for copyright reasons, but I added a little bit about the journal to the story section and made a couple of other small changes to help the flow. --Pagrashtak 8 July 2005 02:07 (UTC)
Music Section
[edit]I did minor editing to the Music section that someone just added, but as it stands right now, it's practically all opinion. I think it needs to be expanded with more information or removed. --Pagrashtak 8 July 2005 01:43 (UTC)
Stage Names
[edit]A caption in the article refers to the opening stage as "Awakening Road". I'm not aware of anything in the game or instruction manual that gives the names of the stages. Can someone confirm where this came from and if the other stages have official names? --Pagrashtak 8 July 2005 02:16 (UTC)
- "Awakening Road" is the name given on the Alph Lyla acid jazz CD. Also, the level is called "Awake Road Again" in X7. I'm sure the other levels have names but I don't know many of them.. --Boco XLVII 8 July 2005 04:18 (UTC)
- This site seems to indicate that Awakening Road is the name of the song and Highway Stage is the name of the stage. However, I haven't played X7, so if there's an explicit in-game reference to "Awake Road" or "Awakening Road" I'll have to defer to that. Awakening Road has so much more panache... --Pagrashtak 8 July 2005 21:17 (UTC)
- Yes, that does seem to support the stage being called "Highway Stage" rather than "Awakening Road". The X7 soundtrack uses the track name "Awake Road Again" for the music that plays during the stage, which is not a remix of the original music, hence my association of the track title to the place and not the song. Go ahead and change the caption; the rest of the info can be worked in in the Music section (which needs cleanup anyway) and the Stages section. --Boco XLVII 8 July 2005 22:45 (UTC)
- In the game's ending credits, it does refer to the beginning stage as "Highway Stage". Neum 04:24, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
FAQ or Article?
[edit]I mean no offense to the authors of this article, but this article seems more like an FAQ guide rather than an article. Do you think it would be better if the article was re-written using the same information?(Specifialy I mean the section about boss section) --ShadowJester07 23:52, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
- That does need to be done. Wikipedia is not a how-to. I've put a cleanup tag on the page, in case someone else wants to take a look at removing/rewritting that. --InShaneee 04:17, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- I did a little more tidying up, but it appears User:ApolloBoy was right on the ball and took care of the lion's share of the job. Thanks! --InShaneee 17:36, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- I re-wrote The Sigma's layer part, adding some more detail. Should we go on to write about the ending sequence?--ShadowJester07 21:17, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Fortress bosses?
[edit]The articles for the 'classic' Mega Man games have them listed, so how about for Mega Man X? Sprinter h 04:05, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
- They certianly should not have them in first place. I'll take care of them when I recieve a chance.-ZeroTalk 12:17, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
The bosses are basically main characters, why don't they belong? Maybe I'm using too much common sense right now, but please explain.mcnichoj (talk) 05:09, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]This article needs to be cleaned up.
- It still uses the second person.
- In particular, the IBM PC section needs to be totally rewritten.
- The entire Maverick Hunter X section is a bulleted list, and needs to be rewritten into prose.
- Likewise for the upgrades section.
I thought this would be plain, but the cleanup tag was immediately reverted for some reason. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 06:36, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- I'm surprised you would invoke such hastiness. Why not fix these minor problems yourself..? It is a wiki. I'm suggesting an immmediate action, as we're both aware no one will clean-up this article, and most articles with clean-up tags nowadays don't.-ZeroTalk 06:38, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, {{sofixit}}, I know. I'm in the middle of writing something else, but I noticed this was a trainwreck, so I tagged it. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 06:41, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

- I see. I did not revert because I didn't agree with your sentiments, its simply its very unrealistic. This article is fairly low traffic, and a clean-up tag is just clutter various editors don't take in account. Similar situation with the Kyo Kusanagi page. Over my time here at wikipedia, I've gathered such tags are essentially worthless. If want something done, you have to do it yourself. And that's the simple truth. -ZeroTalk 06:47, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Some improvement is warranted, but these are quite cosmetic. I've removed the clean-up tag after reviewing said material. -ZeroTalk 14:04, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- You know, you're using me! You depict a {{sofixit}}, causing me to come under the presumption you would return and make the necessary edits. I'll take the initiative and make the changes. -ZeroTalk 17:33, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
The character section needs to be edited as well. Currently, it discusses the characters in the scope of the entire series, whereas it should just cover the characters as they appear in this game. Dfsghjkgfhdg (talk) 23:42, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
European release date(s)
[edit]Could someone add them?
Zero's sacrifice
[edit]This isn't terribly important but its mentioned that Zero's sacrifice isn't made pointless because X was still trapped. It sounds like someone changed it(I didn't check before). I'm not saying it was or wasn't rendered pointless, though since the armour isn't invincible, zero could have just attacked his head. I doubt X would have died in the amount of time it takes to injure Vile.
Anyway it should be mentioned that either this is debatable or alternatively, not mentioned at all, as its not really important. I haven't altered it myself because this small decision might need some concensus.
This should be added, along with the ending. The game is old enough not to worry about "spoilers". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jovack (talk • contribs) 06:06, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
hadoken
[edit]Shouldn't it be mentioned the street fighter cross-over/reference in the game in the form of a secret weapon. There doesn't have to be an in depth guide to how to get it just something like "If the player collects all of the powerups in the game it is possible for them to find a secret upgrade capsule that lets them do a hadoken from the game street fighter using the same button combination." I woould put it in my self but I'm not sure where it would go. 140.232.154.111 07:03, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- I've added a description of the technique and the means to get and use it under the list of abilities. I'm also adding the variation of acquirance to the Maverick Hunter X section. PrinceForte 08:41, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Hadoken
[edit]In the game, if you have all of the bosses defeated except Sigma, all Heart Tanks and Sub-Tanks, and then go through the Armored Armadillo stage 5 times, on the fifth time, a hidden Dr. Light capsule can be found. This gives Mega Man X the ability to use one of Street Fighter's moves, the Hadoken. When it is used, anything it hits instantly gets destroyed, regardless of whether it is an end boss or not.
My question is, should it be included in this article? Thanks. 203.76.209.48 (talk) 10:08, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Removed weasel tag
[edit]Hi, I removed the {{Weasel|date=September 2008}} tag, because I could not find exactly where the weasel sentence is. Maybe it was fixed since then. If you feel that there are still weasel words constructions, please use {{weasel}} tag where you spot them. That will help a lot in fixing/discussing the problem. Thanks. --HappyInGeneral (talk) 23:58, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Story section's good and all, but it's all just back story. Maybe just one little paragraph pertaining to the actual plot of the game would be a good inclusion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.246.249.112 (talk) 22:03, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

I had to fail this article mainly because it does not have enough citations. The lead section does not have any citations. Solar Police►Talk 16:02, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section#Citations, there is no need to add references to the lead as long as its information is already referenced in the body.Tintor2 (talk) 16:11, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the review and the barnstar. I'm sorry you did not feel Mega Man X (video game) was not up the Good Article criteria. However, though you stated it failed "mainly because it does not have enough citations. The lead section does not have any citations," you did not elaborate on any of the specific parts of your review where you stated "nay". For instance, how is the subject not broadly covered?
- Just for future reference, as per Wikipedia:Citing sources: "Citations are also often discouraged in the lead section of an article, insofar as it summarizes information for which sources are given later in the article, although such things as quotations and particularly controversial statements should be supported by citations even in the lead." I feel I adequately cited the lead information in the body.
- Also, you can place a nominee "On Hold" for a given period of time if you feel the issues can be addressed by the nominator in a reasonable amount of time. Had you done this, I could have argued the lead citation guideline as above and fixed any other problems you had with it. But, it's at your own discretion. Seeing as how you've already failed the article, I intend to renominate it in the near future. Regards. ~ Hibana (talk) 19:38, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

- As far as I am aware, Amazon is not a well-liked source. Is it replaceable, by any chance? Joystiq isn't stellar either, but I'd say it's mostly fine here... however, the one for the iOS version cites Andriasang, a reliable source. Why not just use that?

- Rationales all seem to be in place, those little fair use templates are there, and images are <160k. No apparent obstacles.
- B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
- I think that the caption for Armadilo stage running.jpg might be a touch long. That's not my issue, though; aggregates are generally handy to have in review infoboxes. This article doesn't list one... however, GameRankings offers one, so it might be worthwhile to add it. I'd do it myself, but I don't know if there are any special rules regarding games of this age, so I'll give you the opportunity to object if I'm wrong.

- Prose review: gameplay: mostly fine. One question: what is 'ride armor'? The article has mentioned it a couple times now, first in reference to Vile but later for mechs used by X himself. Are they good? Bad? Is it a generic metal? A byproduct of the creation of the Reploids? Emmy Altava 06:01, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- Prose review: development and reception: mostly fine. There are a few typos in a quote regarding Super Play's review; are those in the review themselves, or the error of one transcribing the review onto Wikipedia while tired? Emmy Altava 06:40, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- Prose review complete. Article has essentially passed GAN... but I'd like answers to the two points above. ("What is Ride Armor?" and "Does Super Play have a proofreader or were the typos user error?".)Emmy Altava 07:00, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

An Anti-Piracy Tab?
[edit]It turns out that the Japanese version of Mega Man X had an anti-piracy measure gone awry. I found this entry from the defunct website Byuu.net (preserved by Web Archive) which displays the back of a Rockman X 1.0 PCB being bodge wired in order to address an issue where the copy protection scheme delivered false positives while running. I tried looking for articles on this bug from reliable sources but I came up empty-handed. This could be an interesting factoid worth including in the main article, provided the information comes from a reliable news outlet or other full-proof source.
