Using Mednafen
[edit]How do you use this program? I can work MESS, but not this program. 172.159.131.120 17:33, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- It has a particularly complicated set of command-line options. Reviewing the command line reference is essential. — Saxifrage ✎ 21:37, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- So in other words, I have to use a DOS box. 80.47.55.165 07:37, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, or write a batch file for it. — Saxifrage ✎ 23:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Bias.

Copied and Pasted
[edit]A large portion of the first part of this page seems to be copied and pasted from Mednafen's official website. Don't know if this is a huge deal or not, what with the original author of the program (and I'm assuming the authoe of the website) apparently editing the page. Speaking of which, when was Virtual Boy support going to be implemented? I thought the anaglyph viewing was cool. I don't know if that's in Red Dragon or not. Notability
[edit]This article was dePRODed in April 2012 in connection with the inclusion of additional sources. It may meet WP:GNG and therefore I don't think the redirect to List of video game emulators is appropriate. -- Trevj (talk) 11:59, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, but there's virtually no content here. It strikes me as a pretty good candidate for the list really... Sergecross73 msg me 12:04, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- While I agree that there's not a great deal of content, merging all of what there is into the list would give it undue weight, e.g. the codebases for the various systems is encyclopedic info and belongs here IMO (although it does need sourcing). -- Trevj (talk) 12:12, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- I don't see an undue problem. This article looks just like all the other articles likely to be merged. Barely a paragraph describing it, a tech jargon chart, and its creation originating from a COI. The fact that it's been like this since at least April 2012 makes me think its not going to get any better either... Sergecross73 msg me 12:25, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- May as well kill it just like the RetroArch page, which may have served a similar purpose in identifying all of the different emulators (and now even several FLOSS game engines) ported to work with it. We aren't in the business of helping people find information that can't already be found with one of the major search engines. Kode54 (talk) 18:37, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

"Spamming" various other Wiki pages
[edit]So, I've seen cases (like this table: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Nintendo_emulators ) where Mednafen is listed as supporting pretty much every system under the sun. Which on the outside makes some sense because you can e.g. load an SNES game up "in Mednafen". But in many cases it has simply repackaged the work of a different emulator - so while we can for example list Mednafen as a SNES emulator, the reality is that Mednafen just wraps higan, and where do we draw the line? I don't really think it should be listed in places where it has not done "original work" on the portion which actually emulates a system. Mednafen does have original emulation engines where I think it makes sense to be listed as an emulator (the PSX core for example is consistently highly rated) - the Wiki page itself is a good listing of various systems it could truly lay claim to.
There are similar issues with RetroArch, which is essentially just a frontend that glues together a bunch of disparate emulators that do the actual work. 198.160.103.148 (talk) 22:43, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
