One Nation

[edit]

I am removing the posting for this for a number of reasons:

  • The website does not have any working links to product information
  • While they have a link to the BWEA on their website, they are not actually members
  • Ebay item 180163674949 states "After a lengthy period of investigation and research in the field of renewable energy, ONE NATION is proud to introduce...."
  • Incorporation took place on 18/09/2007
  • The person who added it to this list (87.102.12.28), seems to be involved with the company based on the highly promotional wording used.

Ranking by capacity

[edit]
Capacity for what? Number of units manufactured per year? Total nameplate capacity manufactured per year? Nameplate capacity of each manufacturer's largest wind turbine? (Or smallest?) Note that a sortable table can let the reader select from several possible rankings of the manufacturers (years in business, annual revenue, number of units installed last year, total units installed, etc.). Feel free to create an account so you can experiment on a user subpage. --Teratornis (talk) 01:45, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe Acciona even manufactures turbines. They do own and operate wind fields. I recommend reviewing the list 142.176.6.109 (talk) 16:53, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They do seem to produce components,[1] although it is hard to confirm. They have installed 4,700MW but unlikely to have produced them. But you are right, the list should be reviewed. Refs are all primary! Surely this can be improved. Sites like [2] and [3], possibly [4] and [5], may help. TGCP (talk) 18:13, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
According to this they do assemble turbines, but have only built 3,211MW in total - so I'm not sure convinced that they make it into the top 10 for 2009 ErnestfaxTalk 09:08, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sinovel, Goldwind and Dongfang each had 6-9% market share in 2009, so the market is shifting. Perhaps we could go to the local tech library and read BTM Wind Market Report, and we should get a TORRENT ;) of data. TGCP (talk) 10:16, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, I'm being dead thick and still haven't found that torrent :( ErnestfaxTalk 19:55, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Me neither, I just thought I saw it in a search earlier. I couldn't find the one from Make Consulting either. I don't think I will get the time to go to DTIC.dtu, but they should have it. Maybe we should have a more strict requirement for inclusion in this list, because there are some websites that try to list all manufacturers, so we could settle for just upholding the rule of notability. Removing non-notable

[edit]

This list has clearly got out of hand, and there are concerns about a list like this becoming a "spam magnet". I have removed red-linked entries which seemed to be non-notable. If there are some sizeable manufacturers who do not yet have their own article, please add them in with a third party reference. Or write the company article first. Thanks. Johnfos (talk) 21:02, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A complete list can also be a useful start to create and expand articles. Not all articles in a list require a wikipedia article (see List of aircraft manufacturers). Inwind (talk) 21:37, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I favor adding content over deleting content. It would be nice to have articles for all the wind turbine manufacturers we mention in our numerous existing wind power articles. For example, we have a general (no play on words intended) article about General Electric, but no article specifically about GE Energy's wind turbine unit. I want to expand the Wind power in Ohio article to mention several reliably-sourced small wind projects, and we don't have articles about the manufacturers who built the wind turbines for some of those projects (Aventa and Bergey). It's hard to write all these articles, and we don't make it easier with our aggressive blocking of (possibly) well-intentioned new users who don't understand our rules yet (see for example User talk:OhioGreenWind). --Teratornis (talk) 01:45, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This list should be divided into large-scale and small-scale, as the middle ground is disappearing. A temporary divider could be set at 100kW until issue is resolved. I also favor adding as opposed to deleting. TGCP (talk) 16:17, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

() It's been a while and this list was clearly out of hand again, so I went through and removed all redlinked and non-linked entries. Ioeth (talk contribs twinkle friendly) 20:12, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New article layout?

[edit]

The current article is messy, crowded and ambiguous. I propose sectioning based on turbine capacity (size) and production volume (numbers). But other suggestions are also likely to be better than the current. My wording is cumbersome, but shows my intentions :

-Top10-

-Other high volume producers of large wind turbines-
Nordex
Samsung
Mitsubishi
AREVA/Multibrid
Clipper
DeWind
WinWinD
Alstom Ecotècnia

-High volume producers of small wind energy generators-
Raum

-Current producers of low volume-

-Historic manufacturers-
Boeing

The problem of this way of dividing is where to draw the line between high and low volume, and between small and large turbines.
Most (all?) high volume large turbines are the so-called "Danish model" of horizontal axis, 3-bladed upwind type, but other types (2-bladed, VAWT, etc) should be represented. TGCP (talk) 15:42, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I would like to change, or at least remove, the internal link for HanJin, but it don't works because of restrictions given here. The actual link is not correct, due to not linking to the wind turbine manufacturer HanJin, but to the chatter HanJin! [Transferred to this talk page from the article, at line 93 on June 22, 2011:]

I just visited this link and while I cannot tell you what was there before, this is now just a list of marketing and sales representatives from around the world. The first on the list, 21st Century, doesn't even sell or manufacture, they just offer to help you connect to other companies that do plan and manufacture (ref. http://www.21cse.com/services). I tried searching the indicated directory using their search engine and came up with equally related results.

Flag for Siemens

[edit]

Changed it to only a German flag. True Siemens Wind Power is the result of the acquisition of a Danish company and there is still major production and research capacity located in Denmark. However, it is a division in the energy sector of a German company with headquarters in Hamburg, Germany and a German CEO and CFO who report to the CEO / CFO of the Siemens Energy Sector in Erlangen, Germany and ultimately into the CEO / CFO of Siemens AG in Munich, Germany. In addition it is increasingly building up production capacity in other countries. Frankly, claiming a division of Siemens is Danish because it has production in Denmark, would imply that Apple is a Chinese/American company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.174.214.178 (talk) 09:21, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This article is either incorrectly named, or the chart/listings are incorrect

[edit]

The chart was for wind-energy suppliers, regardless of who manufactured the turbines. Manufacturing differs from power production/installation. Therefore, barring renaming of this article, I deleted the chart. Softlavender (talk) 09:47, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Small ...

[edit]

"Small wind turbine manufacturers" means

manufacturer of small w. turbines or

small manufacturers of w. turbines?

Not necessarily the same. --Helium4 (talk) 10:03, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Or of course, both. But actually it is intended to mean manufacturers of small wind turbines (however they are defined).  Velella  Velella Talk   10:14, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've some comments about the wiki: List of wind turbine manufacturers. 1) The distinction between small and large windturbines isn't clear to me. May I suggest adding widening the scope of small windturbines to 100kW. I think the <10kW are micro windturbines, for house holds. The small or medium (10kW - 100kW) wind turbine are connected behind the meter. On the low voltage grid, 230V - 1000V <80A. The farmer or rural area wind turbines. Manufacturers TUGE; XANT; - Large wind turbines MW range. These are connected to medium voltage 10kV or higher. Lots of manufacturers are missing; Aeolos(UK); ATB(Italy) BestWind (GER/NL) [Lely-Aircon]; EAZ (NL); ESPE (Italy); EWT (NL)[Lagerway LW50]; Leitwind (Italy); Viking Wind (Denmark); WES (NL) [LW18-80 &LW30-250]; Uniwind (Ger); SWP (Denmark). Rik ISS-fan (talk) 16:20, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Many are missing by design because this is a list of notable manufacturers (that is, ones that already have a Wikipedia article to link). MrOllie (talk) 16:23, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
