Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, TGCP, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, like CarterCopters, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for page creation, and may soon be deleted.

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Glenfarclas (talk) 23:37, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on CarterCopters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. [edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page CarterCopter has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkEiQq1c3po, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv-_HpoB-_c (matching the regex rule \byoutube\.com). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 12:20, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article F-35 testing has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable un-referenced list that had been deleted from main article as non-notable

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Regarding the implementation of {{Infobox power station (temp)}}, the discussions there has sort of stalled, and I believe it is somewhat clogging the normal editing process. It will be a month since I started the discussion tomorrow, which is a bad sign. The purpose of the discussion was basically to understand if the merge is error-free, which I believe is already achieved.

We could always improve the template after the merge just like any other template. Waiting for the perfect template to be formed doesn't make sense; Wikipedia is an ever-improving encyclopedia.

Please state here, or at the talkpage, if you agree that the support arrangement for the merge is properly done. Or the reasons why its not. I look forward for your response. Kind regards. Rehman 07:39, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Lists of wind turbines in Denmark for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article Lists of wind turbines in Denmark, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lists of wind turbines in Denmark until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Handschuh-talk to me 03:49, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Groasis Waterboxx, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Nomination of Groasis Waterboxx for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Groasis Waterboxx is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Groasis Waterboxx until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Night of the Big Wind talk 14:26, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Image problem

[edit]

On your diagram shouldn't the v-22 and harrier be semicircular rather than straight? Both of them have thrust vectoring of one type or another. For example angled at 45 degrees I would expect about 70% of the thrust in each direction.GliderMaven (talk) 18:49, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

They could be, but we don't know. So the line is a conservative approximation - perhaps a shaded area would be better. Also, the Harrier changes engine conditions in order to attain sufficient lift, so it's not a true circle arc. Something about the XV-5 made me abstain from a line. Feel free to edit it; I can upload the .odf file again somewhere (the mediafire file is offline). I made the image primarily to display the unique flow multiplication ability of the LiftSystem compared to others. Btw, I have not been able to find a ref for the disc loading of the LiftSystem. Shale oil

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your edits on shale gas and shale oil. However, I reverted your addition to the shale oil article, because, as it stands now, the article is about oil generated from kerogen-bearing shale, rather than about oil produced from oil-bearing shale. This is a source of increasing confusion, as the news media, the oil industry, and (as you properly cited) government sources have increasingly used the term shale oil as you used it, and not as the Wikipedia article uses it. Please contribute your opinion to the Shale oil talk page. Plazak (talk) 22:38, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Electricity sector in Poland requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi,

I am no longer going to stand in your way over edits you choose to make over marginal cases. Perhaps I should apologise for doing so in the first place. I had hoped that the situation would be more clear-cut, but it seems that nobody has been able to clarify. I hope you can forgive me. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 16:27, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your consideration. I work towards being more cooperative and not just go my own way, and your reply here is an inspiration to me. Let's hope I can remember that next time I disagree with others ;-/ . I "boldly" made the first clumsy tiltrotor edit, but now it turns out that AW only sought money, source didn't say they got it - so it actually was not notable, and the revert is right. It was a paper project anyway, and it will be at least a decade before it flies, so we have plenty of time to discuss ;-) I guess the blurred lines mean tech is moving towards the best. It seems you have placed some IIHS crash test results in the Lexus RX article, under the fourth generation AL20 section. Although the AL20 went into production on September 28, 2015, it is not the 2015 model officially nor the specific example tested by IIHS that you referenced. The example tested was a variant of the outgoing AL10 (2008-2012; 2012-2015). You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. You asked on this page, I answered. I don't know how to ping. I sometimes edit a lot, with varying degrees of ref fill. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort - I add some, you add some, someone else adds some more. It all works out eventually. TGCP (talk) 21:01, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Grants-IdeaLab-Drag-n-drop-references-between-articlesMetis3.PNG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Tesla Supercharger

[edit]

Hey TGCP, since this article is about the charger (standard) not the cars, it's a bit strange that you reverted a change which correct the the dimensions of the system, including a source for this. Can you explain your actions please?

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Tesla_station&oldid=prev&diff=757941091 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyrotux (talkcontribs) 23:52, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cyrotux . My correction is explained in the edit summary and edit. I will elaborate: Your source quotes this source called <ref name=e145> which was already used in this article. Both state that the Tesla charger supplies up to 145 kW and the cars can accept 120 kW maximum. The article could be improved by referencing that each charge controller (which are quite expensive and use several parallel charge units) supplies two stalls to optimize cost/benefit of the overall installation. The reason is that charge rate is reduced when the battery is near full, so the charger can shift its power to the adjacent car which came after the first. Tesla has made this system quite clever, but also a little complicated to understand. The charge controller is housed in the large boring white box, not the pretty red stands we see in the picture. In short; each stand (not charger) provides a maximum of 120 kW power, which is also what Tesla states. TGCP (talk) 10:43, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A bit of reviewing help ?

[edit]

Hello TGCP,

I noticed that you contribute a lot of work related to energy production. I made some major changes to a rather weak article, Availability factor, managing just a single inline-source. I also did some significant changes to the related, but better Capacity factor. I was wondering if you would maybe give these two articles a look, perhaps for a bit of copyediting but more importantly to see if the text makes sense to someone other than myself. Thanks either way. Lklundin (talk) 21:00, 11 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I added a bit. They are adequate for the time being. More data could be added, either manually or when Wikidata has time series available. TGCP (talk) 22:17, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates for Blue Castle Project

[edit]

Where did you find the coordinates you added in this edit? Just curious, because I couldn't find them when writing the article. Thanks! ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 23:18, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The coords are a low precision version of the "5 miles west-northwest" in the text ;-) Coordinates for large projects are usually given with meter-precision, which I consider strange. Such large areas should be shown with kilometer-precision. The project adress is 1145 South 800 East, Suite 117 Orem, Utah 84097, Orem, UT 84097. Alternatively, this says Latitude: 38.99556, Longitude: -110.15964 TGCP (talk) 23:44, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That address is not the location of the project. It is simply their working address while everything is worked on. Orem is about 150 miles away from the location of the project itself. I have removed the coordinates until they announce the specific location of the site. Otherwise, it's just original research since "about five miles west-northwest" covers a very broad area. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:00, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Regarding the Energy Justice link you mentioned, that's just the center of town for Green River, which is very obviously not the right location. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:01, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, ok. Those were just some options. The 5mi coords were a different way of saying 5mi, with the associated lack of precision. Actually you can express less precision with 39°N 110°W than with "5mi", because those coords could be 38.5-39.4° according to rounding, showing a very large area. The coord option direct readers to the map area, but I guess they can just figure out the place like I did by going Five Miles Out from Green River. This paper has a map on page 106, near the curve in the road. I couldn't find this paper in the article - seems to quote page 5 in this; my coordinates were pretty close. It also describes cooling towers. I was looking for reservoir descriptions, it seems to be a 100 acre sedimentation pond (about 3 million gallons), to which water is lifted from the river by pumps in 12 pipelines. Max 73 cubic feet per second (32,765 gallons per minute). TGCP (talk) 21:22, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the paper, I've readded the coordinates and cited that report for the coordinates. Thanks for pointing me to the report. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 08:04, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An update from the Sustainability Initiative

[edit]
Thank you for supporting the Sustainability Initiative!

Hi, TGCP! Thank you again for supporting the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 200 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.

What's new?

We are writing you this message because there is great news: The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has finally passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Also, we have created a cool logo and found a nice name for the project which you can see on the right :-)

What's next?

Currently, we are working with Wikimedia Foundation staff to make sustainability a key priority for the selection of a new location for Wikimedia servers in Singapore. Also, we have presented the Wikimedia Foundation with a green energy roadmap to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.

Please help!

Let's keep this project moving forward – and there are several ways in which you can help:

  • Ask other Wikipedians to sign the project page as well – this way we can show the Wikimedia Foundation that this is an issue that the community really cares about.
  • Talk to Wikimedians you know about the importance of reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement.
  • Improve and translate the project page on Meta.

If you have any questions, you can contact us on on Meta. Again, thank you very much for your support! --Aubrey und Gnom, 2 April 2017 —Preceding undated comment added 21:27, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, do you have a reference for USA parkway being mileposted N-S rather than S-N? I can't find anything on the pages of the Route Log you added, and pages 173 and 178 of the same pdf do say S-N and give a route description in a S-N manner. Thanks, "Pepper" @ 23:04, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. I didn't know there was a nomenclature for that - it seemed odd to start the road at a dead end in the middle of nowhere - for now, until it connects with US50. You can check the distance in Lyons County, as I don't know if the standard requires mile marker (adding) or distance within that section. TGCP (talk) 23:45, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the mileages as unreferenced - mileposts in Nevada reset back to 0 at county lines, so until we have a reference or they complete the route and actually lay out the posts, I think we should leave it blank. This, while helpful for some routes, isn't helping here as it was published before NDOT took over the road. "Pepper" @ 03:13, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Why ? Lengths are shown on page 215, and there are only two - that should be reference enough. We can choose the accuracy, and 6 and 0.1 is the length regardless of whether distances are added or separate. We can look at other roads to see if the unpaved section should be 10 (separate) or 18 (added). TGCP (talk) 05:27, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
A few reasons: if the road is actually S-N, then mile 0 would be at US 50, not I-80. I also think you were misinterpreting the log slightly with the 0.1 - the road actually ends at I-80 (so that would be mile 0 were the highway N-S), and the Washoe/Storey county line is 0.1 miles south of that. Eventually, the goal would be for the RJL to look like Nevada State Route 28's. On a different note, I believe the case you presented for sig figs is exactly why they are typically not used for RJL's in favour of a fixed number of decimal places. The road definitely exists in Washoe County, and rounding its length to 0 as it is less than a tenth of the length in other counties strikes me as a disservice. In the prose, sure. But not in the junction list. When we are given 0.123 and 6.136, why not use them? "Pepper" @ 15:28, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The road doesn't start at US50 - yet. It "starts" (by NDOT nomenclature) at the roadblock up in the empty hills 10 miles north of US50, where grading is moving south towards US50. Most people would consider the road to start at I-80, because that's how they get there - the only other way in is the Waltham Way bridge near Patrick (detour). But okay, we follow NDOT and say S-N as the table says now. I can see from NSR-28 that the numbers are added within each county, because mile markers are reset at county lines as you say. What a confusing system. With only two sections, it should be easy to copy the method from NSR-28 and show lengths within counties, with the precise 6.136 and 0.123 given. I wanted to use them first but I wasn't sure if they should be added or separate, but 6 and 0.1 would have worked in either case. We can add the blank unopened 4 mile section in Storey as well. When nearing completion, NDOT will update the numbers, and we can update the table again. TGCP (talk) 21:45, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think at this point you understand what I'm saying and I'd be more than fine with you populating the table as done for SR 28. Agree that it is a weird system, but hey, that's what we have to work with. How were you planning on showing the unopened section in Storey County? (Mile -4?) Personally I would leave the unopened section without mile numbers until the road is complete and, as you say, NDOT updates the numbers. Could always get more opinions at WT:USRD if you're really invested in the article's current state :) "Pepper" @ 22:14, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think I understand the system now. I thought the table showed distances between junctions (as shown in the document), but it does not. It shows the /location/ in relation to a specific point. There are probably physical mile markers beside the road, and the junction table correlates to those markers (the county line is 0.136 miles from the 6-mile marker pole). We have no NDOT reference to show those numbers or what the starting point is, so we cannot show them. The actual mile markers may be something different. The road was graded to the Lyons/Storey county line some years ago, but not paved. We don't know where the start point is. Let's wait with more edits until NDOT publishes something, which shouldn't take more than ½ year. TGCP (talk) 20:45, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There are multiple reasons why this is simply wrong. Eg the fact that corn/maize wasn't a staple at the time, that there is no evidence the sites were contemporary or not ritual burning sites, technical problems about comets, etc. Let alone the authors.
