Talk:List of Mega Man X characters
Vesther's idea
[edit]It has came to my attention that some of the main characters, like X and Zero, have repetitive information on this page that the information contained on this page can actually be merged with their own character pages. What do you guys think? -- Vesther, 13:17 Hours CDT, 19 June 2005.
- I think that this page should be used for a general overview of all characters, even if they have their own page. That being said, not many characters on this page deserve their own page but for those that do, they should have a general overview. --TheDotGamer Talk 18:16, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)
- I think the bios here need to be clarified and cut in length (especially the ones with game-specific plot information). I also think the characters should be arranged by affiliation (Hunters, enemies, Sigma's group, the group in Command Mission, everyone else; or something similar) rather than alphabetically, and that those completely fake "Japanese" names should be dropped (..actually, now that I look, only Aeria and Axel need to be removed, and VAVA adjusted to be in all caps.. so I'll do that now). But yes, every major character should be here, with a link to eir own article if e has one. --Boco XLVII 20:04, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I personally think that this page needs to be deleted. Vile needs his own page, X,Axl Zero, and Sigma already have theirs, and no one is concerned about the others.63.113.61.147 17:21, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Dr. Cain
[edit]I did a very minor edit to "Dr. Cain" yesterday and thought I should mention it. It was simply about his finding of Mega Man (mentioning something more on it) and then about the "Doppler Project" (X3) and the "Repliforce" (X4), which happened to be his last two known projects (as mentioned here previously). --Yahweh 05:06, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, but don't confuse Megaman with X. 201.239.183.138 02:12, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Rafflesian: Minor Comment
[edit]Firstly, I fixed her name.
Secondly, is there actually any official information linking her with the Rebellion? Sure, we fight her and she's holding some secret armour, but she's locked up in Tianna Camp. It is possible she's merely a very crazy prisoner and not a Rebellion member.

Grammar
[edit]This page seems to have an awful lot of bad grammar.
Iris and colonel
[edit]The two characters do not have last names, and they are not thorne. -ZeroTalk 11:44, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
I recently created this article, and due to tiime restraints, can not complete it all at once as I would like. I could use some assistance if anyone is interested. Please see its talkpage first before you begin. -ZeroTalk 03:53, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Spider
[edit]In regarding to spider being the true one before the incentas mission, anyone can find the source?
Split/merge
[edit]This article is a mess. Half of it is abbreviated versions of the articles for recurring characters, then the other half of it is contextless snippets of plot from various games.
The first half can probably be improved into something useful as a reference list (and probably a merge target for some of these minor recurring characters - Alia and Dynamo come immediately to mind), but all of the one-shot characters really belong in their game articles. The list entries are essentially useless without the reference the game articles provide (Gamma, for example, or Mac), and they're essentially duplicating the plot of those games.
By doing this, we can pare down this article (and hopefully make it not a godawful trainwreck) and reduce duplicate plot summary. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 01:52, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
If any of the merge tags are wrong, please fix them, by the way. Sometimes it's hard to tell who goes where. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 02:07, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
This includes everyone on this list who only appears in one game, even if they aren't tagged. I don't recognize some of these. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 02:21, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Well, I'm going to get started removing the minor one-time characters, then, given the lack of objections. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 22:01, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
People haven't objected probably because they haven't noticed. I don't agree with removal of one time characters - its fine as a list, altough it does need trimming. Any plot summeries should just be removed and give only info on the characters. --82.37.115.147 02:17, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I let all of the regular MMX editors know, and none of them has said anything.
- As far as the one-shot characters go, why do we need info on, say, Middy or Double in two places? Shouldn't that info be in the most obvious place: the game article itself? - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 07:13, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Well some of that information shouldn't be at the game pages anyway. Why would information concerning characters go on the game pages and not on a character list? As for removal - it depends entirely on the character and how minor it was. Several of the one shots were major to the games they're from. Why not just remove information for the characters with articles, with just links to the article, and keep the one shots? I'm pretty sure I've seen several lists do that. --80.195.198.115 16:14, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- I suggest you read WP:FICT. There's nothing you can say about, say, Middy, that isn't actually saying something about the game in which he appears. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 04:38, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Removing the manga characters
[edit]I don't know where the manga characters came from, but there doesn't seem to be an associated article or any effort to place them in context. As such, I've removed them in this diff. If someone would like to restore this section and add sufficient context to make it understandable (and preferably merge it to the article for the manga itself), please feel free. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 19:28, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Ruined Page
[edit]So exactly why did you all feel you had to butcher the page like this, and turn it into a shadow of it's former self? This is absurd, this used to be my favorite page on wikipedia, but now it's something I want absolutly nothing to do with. BassxForte 21:18, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Merge Iris (Mega Man)
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section.
The result was do not merge into List of Mega Man X characters. -- Nanobri 16:16, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I propose the Iris (Mega Man) article be merged into List of Mega Man X characters as she apparently has several appearances in the X series. The description length of Iris is on par with those in this "list" article. The Iris article is short and not likely to be added to, so it really shouldn't be it's own article. Other merging discussion relating to the Iris article can be found at Talk:Mega Man X4 -- Nanobri 16:36, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I strongly disagree with this, Iris had a somewhat 'special' role as Zero's love intrest, and take Megaman Maverick Hunter X, it is a remake of the original Megaman X, so there's a good chance a remake of X4 will be created, so if if an OVA comes with it, prehaps her role will have more meaning. Until this is determined, we should keep an article of her seprate. -- Lesser Shadow 01:21, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree with the above. I do not recommend this. Mostly because Iris is close to Zero and she is a more important character in her own right. -- User:ZeroGiga 04:30, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Removed stuff from Vile's section
[edit]Someone put in the MMX8 section that he was fighting for Sigma and Lumine but it added a part where it said something like "or for himself, only time will tell when he reveals his human face" What is this nonsense?Mavrickindigo (talk) 05:16, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
American MMX Comics?
[edit]I'm going to edit out most of the stuff about the MMX comics. I have a feeling that most of that is either fancruft or untrue. If someone can find the validity of those pieces of info, please feel free to revert my edit. ChromeWulf ZX (talk) 00:47, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]None of the three currently assert any sort of notability. While I assume that there is potential, if nobody wishes to work on them, merging them to at least get them less focused on in-universe details would be useful. TTN (talk) 16:14, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Zero's probably the only salvageable one, but if nobody's willing to fix it up might as well merge it.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 21:10, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Zero also appears separately in Mega Man Zero (series), so it might be worthwhile to add at least some information there, independent of how this particular merge question is resolved. --Dhilvert (talk) 03:31, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with this merge. They're mostly unnecessary plot details.--ZXCVBNM (TALK) 05:00, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Per consensus the articles have been merged in here. If there's anything salvagable that was missed it can be snagged from their older versions and put into here if need be. Might keep an eye out for people to rush in and go "BUT WAIT I OBJECT" per usual and then never actually work on the articles.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 22:45, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Zero having a seperate article
[edit]Do you think it would be good for Zero to have a separate article? He has been involved in quite a few Megaman games, such as the Zero and ZX series, and his section on this article doesn't go into much detail. I would be willing to help create the article, since I am a Megaman Zero fan -(Wikipedian1234 (talk) 00:45, 8 September 2009 (UTC))
I am in the mist of making the Zero article. Please put any useful websites for references and sources that I may be able to use in the creation for the article in this section. Thanks- (Wikipedian1234 (talk) 02:32, 9 September 2009 (UTC))
So, Zero has his own article, but Mega Man X himself doesn't? Huh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.62.184.132 (talk) 18:57, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
Crossover Sonic/ Mega Man
[edit]Under the chapter "Sigma" the article says: "This is eventually proven false, since Sigma once again returns in the Mega Man/Sonic the Hedgehog crossover comic book arc, Worlds Unite."
This comic is probably not canon to the Mega Man series, since the Sonic the Hedgehog comics have a completely different continuity than the games. They are in no way connected storywise.77.11.185.156 (talk) 09:29, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
