Removal of Low Quality Games / Mini-Games

I am beginning the removal of low quality games, and games that have low commercial value. I believe this list should be limited to games that have a considerable level of quality and have (or are similar to games that have) commercial value. Josepharaoh99 (talk) 11:42, 22 June 2020 (UTC)

This list I thought was supposed to be a complete list of all games that are made with Christian themes- such as Captain Bible or timothy and titus- how well known they are is irrelevant to them being on the list. If they were published- someone did the hard work to make them and I think they should be on the list. JustMatthew (talk) 19:48, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

If there is a belief that this list should be limited, there should be a separate page with that theme in order to retain this comprehensive list with this title. There are many Christian video games that do not embody quality craftsmanship, however, that is not what this list states that it is. Maybe something like "Best Christian Video Games", or "List of Commercially viable Christian Games" would be a good alternate. Doom's not a Christian Video Game

People have been adding Doom to this list. But I'm pretty sure Doom doesn't fit the given definition of a Christian video game. Which is, "A game that incorporates themes from Christianity and is consistent with Christian values." I believe that all instances of Doom should be removed from this list. What are your thoughts? Doom is not classified as a Christian game because it is not consistent with Christian principles. Demons are not exclusive to Christianity, nor is Hell. Thus, to truly be Christian, it must be presented in a manner consistent with Christian values, or else its spiritual content relates to religion as a whole and not to just Christianity. Doom is not a Christian video game even though it has some references to sort of Christian themes- like hell or demons. There are a lot of games that have Christian references such as churches and ministers of various kinds, but that doesn't make them Christian. For example, there is a preacher in Detroit Become Human- but Detroit Become Human is not a Christian game by any standards. Also minecraft has churches and clerics in them- that does not make minecraft a Christian game by any means. JustMatthew (talk) 19:51, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

Christian games to be released

I would like to propose possibly adding a To Be Released section to this page; a list of Christian games that are still under development, to be released in the future. This could help people to get in touch with current developers, and help people to be ready when games are released. It's possible such a section wouldn't be consistent with the rest of this page, however; so I decided to just add it as a possible idea under this Talk page. Any critique is welcome. The You Testament

I'm personally not sure The You Testament is the best game for this list. Although it has a Biblical topic (the life of Jesus), it more or less seems to make a mockery of it through the strange characters and the dialog that isn't very close to what the Bible really says (especially through the meditation to receive power part). I wholeheartedly agree. The You Testament is what is called blasphemy- they twist the teachings of Christ in game to talk about new age doctrines! (I have played the game before) It is full of blood and gore and is quite horrible in just about every way as far as content goes. JustMatthew (talk) 19:54, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

Minecraft as a Christian Video Game

I have heard before people suggesting that Minecraft is a Christian video game, and I'm not attempting to argue with anyone who says it is. I've never played it much, so what can I say; but I have seen a fair amount of gameplay. To decide if it actually is a Christian video game, consideration must be taken of Wikipedia's definition of a Christian video game: "A Christian video game is a video game that incorporates themes from Christianity." All the games added to this list must be consistent with Wikipedia's definition. So... the question is, is Minecraft a game that incorporates themes from Christianity? I have heard several proposals, including that the Nether area in Minecraft is a mirror of Hell. But... by this, people could say that any game with lava and fire and stuff like that has hell in it so, is a Christian video game. The truth is that because an area has a place like Hell, does not necessarily make that place Hell. Offhand, take Doom. Doom has Hell in it, yet is not a Christian video game, because it is not consistent with Christian principles. I'm sorry if this sounds like arguing, but I'm just merely trying to show that a place like Hell doesn't make a game Christian.

I'm also aware that the game's concept of the monsters being killed by light after spawning at night can reflect the light of Jesus (or some similar concept) that kills evil. I can see this one as making sense as a Christian concept, and I am definitely not trying to argue with anyone. But think of it this way: there are many things the light kills, but when it does, we do not consider that a Christian concept. Again, just because the light kills something does not necessarily make it a Christian concept. If you really wanted to get technical, you could say light doesn't technically KILL demons (if the zombies and skeletons in Minecraft are comparable to demons), but merely sends them back to their dimension.

I think most people would agree that Minecraft doesn't really have any overt Christian messages. It does have some material that may be allegorical of concepts that Christians believe in, and I could understand some people saying it's a Christian game, but I honestly feel it doesn't fit Wikipedia's definition of a Christian video game; which I feel is limited to games with a clear Christian message or theme. Minecraft does not openly mention God, the Bible, Hell, Heaven, or other subjects like that; but does have concepts that could unfortunately be understood to mean different things. Either way, I'm open to what you think; and I am trying to avoid an argument. Feel free to reply to this with something I might not know about the game! Minecraft is not a Christian game- but I am sure people will always interpret things as they do with starwars and other movies or games that have any topics of good VS evil or light VS darkness. JustMatthew (talk) 19:56, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

Suggestion for unofficial guidelines for inclusion on the list of games in this article

I saw a note about this article on the help desk, and came to check it out. I noticed it violates WP:EL with numerous inline external links. I created the Meal kit article which includes a list of notable companies. It became a similar spam magnet, so I got consensus to write some suggested guidelines for which companies could be included on the list. My unofficial guideline is a bit more explicit than what is in WP:SOURCELIST, so I'm adapting it for this page, as a suggestion. Any objections?

There are numerous Christian video games.  This list is intended to be only the most notable ones.  Please do not add any external links to game sites, per WP:PROMO.  If the game has a Wikipedia article, please link to that.  If the game has media coverage in a reliable source but doesn't have an article yet, please cite the best source.  If you plan to write an article for any of the unlinked games and feel there's sufficient media coverage, feel free to wiki-link but it will be red linked until the article is complete. Any entry added without media coverage (indicating lack of notability) will be removed. Please feel free to discuss these unofficial guidelines on the talk page.

I find slightly objectionable- because I personally have used this list to find unknown Christian games that have been forgotten, as I am a collector and streamer of Christian. However I have no objection to removing links that go to unsafe websites or such. JustMatthew (talk) 19:59, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

Removal of low quality games?

There is number of games in this list that do not have a considerable level of production quality (Forgiveness, Rionon, etc.). Should games of this caliber be removed? Josepharaoh99 (talk) 20:48, 25 June 2019 (UTC)

I don't think they should be removed. Despite them having a low production quality. They are still Christian video games, which people would have put time and effort into making. Chicken0me (talk) 21:19, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
