Karma (video game player) → Karma (Call of Duty player) – Move back to original title. Current title is WP:PDAB due to the existence of Karma (Halo player). feminist (talk) 06:11, 12 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 13:50, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

- Support since in this instance "video game player" is obviously not precise enough. This one shouldn't have been moved, regardless of the consensus in the previous RM. —Xezbeth (talk) 06:50, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

- Comment - What makes the game the unique identifier, in this circumstance? Why not the persons birth year, or something similar? Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 16:03, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose - Yeah, don't we usually go with "video game player, born YEAR" for cases like this? ~ Dissident93 (talk) 17:22, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
- I would also be OK with any other unique identifier, as long as it distinguishes the two articles. This may mean the other article needs to be moved as well. feminist (talk) 08:09, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- I propose (and support) the following:
- Karma (video game player) → Karma (video game player, born 1993)
- Karma (Halo player) → Karma (video game player, born 1988)
- Thoughts? @Feminist, Xezbeth, Maplestrip, In ictu oculi, Biexx, Lee Vilenski, and Dissident93:. The editor whose username is Z0 13:42, 17 September 2018 (UTC) Update: Flooded with them hundreds 16:42, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- I was thinking something similar when this came up, but I think we would be failing the purpose of the disambiguation portion. Almost no readers will know the exact age of the person they are looking for, whereas anyone who is familiar with one of these two people will know which game they play. If there were several decades between these two people's birthyears, I might have supported this, but in this case, I think it would be needlessly difficult. ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 14:51, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- Surely this is the same as with footballers who also use this identitifier. The disambiguation only works if a player only plays that game. Otherwise, we'll get things like fly (call of duty and FORZA player) if they did both. Birth identifier makes most sense IMO. Why would the reader need to know the name, it would simply come up in the search. The DAB page should have information as to what games they played, or real names as identifiers anyway. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:27, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- I certainly wouldn't want any double-disambiguations to happen, though I think we could decide more specific disambiguations on a case-by-case basis. It doesn't have to be consistently implemented for all video game players that share a name. ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 18:09, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
- I'd argue we do want some consistency, as the coverage of esports is likely to expand exponentially over time. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:06, 18 September 2018 (UTC)

- But this is how we already do for traditional sporting athletes who happen to have the same name and position within their sport, not to mention we could just have a DAB page that explains this. So I support this. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 17:47, 17 September 2018 (UTC)

- I'm going to go ahead and support Karma (video game player, born 1993) and Karma (video game player, born 1988). Seems like the best option available, and closest to what is done to disambiguate other Bio articles. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:38, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- I Support the birthyear suggestion as well, as it works for this purpose well enough. It is definitely preferred over the current situation. ~Maplestrip/Mable (chat) 17:07, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- Support original proposal and oppose disambiguation by birth year. I don't think there's much value in a false consistency in this instance, it is best decided case-by-case as to what the readers will find most WP:RECOGNIZEable. And in this case it is very clear that "Call of Duty player" identifies the subject vastly better than the year of birth, which most people won't know, and which doesn't differentiate them much given there's only a five-year age difference. Also noting that the proposed title was the long-term title until a move less than a month ago, so has the advantage of recent incumbency. — Amakuru (talk) 20:02, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
