okay i've tidied this up a bit, if you have time please insert noteworthy projects back into the list (from the two links provided) as I was too lazy to do this and I deleted the original list of (mostly) vapourware Bitplane 00:36, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

IPA

I have a pretty decent knowledge of german pronunciation and I am almost positive the IPA in the article is incorrect. Irrlicht isn't pronounced "ick lish" ... not good with IPA, cut and pasted it but should be more like iːʁlɪçt . I would use the same IPA, but I am not as comfortable with my knowledge of German. For one, I wouldn't know if the first vowel is long or not. -iopq 18:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I read up on my IPA and reconstructed the pronunciation. For clarity it is long i, vowelized r, l, short i, ich-laut, t

Interesting note about the short i. I wrote the current IPA, but I am not a native speaker. With the way it is spelled, it seems obvious now. Fixing it now.--66.153.117.118 (talk) 17:42, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've worked with Irrlicht for awhile now, so I seem to understand it pretty dang well. I'll keep the article maintained, and am going to move irrEdit to it's own article, change the irrEdit section to Irrlicht-Based World Editors (To also start an article about Sourena 3D World Editor)

Image:Parallax.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Useless

The tone of the fragment "close to being useless" is not suitable. Please rewrite using a stance similar to that of OGRE3D which simply states that this is a scenegraph API (as correctly categorised in the article).Fgenolini (talk) 15:19, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. Irrlicht is a 3D engine, NOT a game engine. It is no where near useless as a 3D engine, it in fact fulfills that purpose VERY well. --64.201.225.44 (talk) 00:20, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Irrlicht has been mentioned on the khronos group opengl page also. No argument has been made against noatibility, plenty of arguments have been made about the notability of the engine. I remove the notability tag. --Dwarfpower (talk) 11:15, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Irrlicht does not mean "crazy light". While there is a word "irre" that means insane, this "irr" comes from the verb "(herum-)irren", to stray (when lost in the woods for example).
