The cover
[edit]Captain Galaxy, why do you keep reverting the image? Enjoyer of World💬 21:52, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Enjoyer of World This only the second time I've had to change the cover of the article. I changed it due to the same reason you originally changed it, I think it's better to have the icon rather than the cover art as a matter of perspective. In addition, it removes the Switch logo and age rating which the article doesn't need. Finally, it is to fit with the rest of the Nintendo Switch game articles on Wikipedia, as it would feel out of place. CaptainGalaxy 22:24, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Captain Galaxy, there are other Switch games article that use the full art. My reason of using it is that it properly shows the charactets, why is it such a problem that it "feel out of place"? Now I've found the one without the Switch and ESRB logos. Would you agree if I changed it again? Enjoyer of World💬 23:04, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Many Switch games article actually use covers, not icons or box art, the latter of which used vertical orientation. Enjoyer of World💬 23:15, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Not many, but look at Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and more importantly, Breath of the Wild. Enjoyer of World💬 23:23, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Both Mario Kart 8 and Breath of the wild appeared on the Wii U first, they aren't exclusively Switch games. I don't know why Smash hasn't changed yet. CaptainGalaxy 08:20, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
Enjoyer of World However, since this type of debate can go on forever, I propose that we hold a poll on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games and see what others think about what covers we should use on Switch games. CaptainGalaxy 08:23, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Also, I'm willing to compromise with your most recent cover art. It looks like an icon, but also displays all the main characters, it's great. CaptainGalaxy 08:25, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
Reception
[edit]Is it too early to add a section for the reception? Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, has already given Age of Calamity a score of 36/40. 76.102.86.232 (talk) 08:50, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
- It's totally fine to start working on reception as soon as reviews become available.--AlexandraIDV 10:27, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
Prequel vs alternate timeline?
[edit]This game is not a direct prequel to Breath of the Wild, since it does not end with the Calamity, but instead with a happy ending where nobody dies. It might or might not be canon, since the Zelda series does like using alternate timelines as an explanation for tying together different games. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:646:C601:A810:2535:3FFE:774C:3583 (talk) 00:19, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- As I have stated previously, the game still counts as a prequel to BOTW. It wouldn't be direct due to slight story deviations, however that doesn't make the game not a prequel, instead those different story beats count as retcons. CaptainGalaxy 11:21, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Good point, but in the game itself, during a loading screen, it says this: "When Terrako, (referring to the little guardian,) traveled to the past, a fragment of calamity ganon's malice followed it. This act caused a new world to be born." so while i understand what you're saying, i don't think it to be true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.15.96.125 (talk) 19:34, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- It definitely is a whole alternate timeline. Neo-corelight (Talk) 23:33, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
