Hi, if you are here to tell me about a BADNAC that I have caused, don't worry you're not the first. However you may want to know I don't attribute myself with any of the discussion pages not even in discussing anymore. So if you are here for those please feel free to revert any mistakes I may have caused without even noting me as I don't want to go back to discussion pages and screw up more for others. If you are here to contact me about other issues, I am active between 10:00 (UTC) and 22:00 (UTC). I archive this talk page after about a month or so.

Do you have plans to nominate this for GA? From my small look through it's incredibly high quality and shouldn't be much work to get there. Panini! 🥪 04:44, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Legends article?

[edit]

Do you think that an article for Pokémon Legends as a whole will be needed now, now that there are two games to that name? Visokor (talk) 17:06, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not right now. We've only just had a second game in the series announced and to create an article about a series, you'd need coverage/commentary on the overall series and not just individual entries. Maybe in the future when these games become more prevalent, who knows, I wouldn't mind being proven wrong here. CaptainGalaxy 17:08, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GamesTM #144

[edit]

Good day and fair tidings to you, sir! As a fellow WP:VG enthusiast, I had the opportunity to notice one of your contributions to a Nintendo-themed video game article, which included a then-newly added reference to a specific issue of the now-defunct video game magazine GamesTM (#144, released 2014-02-06). It just so happens that I am looking to get a hold of a retrospective article from that very same issue, albeit on a different topic, titled "Behind the Scenes: Elder Scrolls: Arena" (pp. 124-135). Therefore, I wonder if you would be willing to share scans of the feature (provided that you still possess the relevant journal). Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time. 13:53, 4 March 2024 (UTC) Electroguv (talk) 13:53, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Electroguv, thank you for reaching out. I'm afraid to say that I am currently not in possession of these scans as I was more just transcribing a review mentioned on Metacritic. However, I will be on the look out for this issue online to help out your cause. Hope you find this soon. CaptainGalaxy 14:03, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A Quick Thanks

[edit]

Hello! I wanted to say thanks for adding the source from The Verge detailing the lawsuit between Nintendo and the Yuzu team on the Citra page! I learned today that support for Citra had been taken down (10 after it happened), and The Verge article was incredibly helpful in understanding the reason behind it. Article improvement question

[edit]

How do you make a GIF (like the one seen in Cat Bird)? TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 23:00, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When adding a GIF onto Wikipedia, I typically get the gif file (either from a reliable source or from yourself) and run it through the website Ezgif. This website is useful for a few reasons. 1) You can convert videos into gifs just by uploading the video file, it's really easy. 2) Cropping the length of the gif, as typically with non free media gif, you don't want them to be long (around 5 seconds I think is the max though don't quote me on that). 3) Compressing is key here. Ezgif features a variety of tools in order to reduce the file size of the gif. Good tools to use would be Optimise and resize (speed also works if you aren't too fussed about the speed of the gif itself). This is important as you want the file to be small enough for DatBot not to notice, as for some reason when datbot tries to reduce the size, it breaks the gif entirely.
Hope this all helps and good luck to ya! CaptainGalaxy 00:52, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

August 2024

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Julia Chang. Although I'm not that knowledgeable about non-free material but I noticed some confusion and bold changes. Like removing these 3 non-free images. So in my opinion we should add her Tekken 4 design back into the article as it serves as a crucial part to her character design, such as glasses and other drastic changes that were implemented to make her unique looking, however, I'm not against the removal of other 2 non-free images that were in "Promotion and reception" section, so I would leave them as it is. Kazama16 (talk) 19:15, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Kazama. So when I went ahead and implemented the changes that I did, I wanted to reduce the amount of non-free media as much as possible, mainly because non-free is stuff we try to avoid using when it is possible (most often the time for video games and characters, it is not). So my thought process was that it would be best to get rid of that didn't feel necessary, which were definitely the last 2 images), however I also felt like it would be best to get rid of the Tekken 4 image as well. I felt that was the best approach as yes, whilst it is a drastically different design, there isn't a lot of discussion about it. Comparatively, the Native American outfit is a major focal point of the article (including being mentioned in the prose/lead of the article), so I felt that that image was a worthwhile inclusion. Now with that being said, I wouldn't be opposed to having both designs in the article under one caption for comparison purposes (see: Template:Multiple image). Preferably there, you'd want to use one image that has both designs in it compared to using to two, but if there isn't one image I supposed two could work.
If you feel conflicted about anything I said here, I shall refer you to WT:VGCHAR where you can have a discussion about it there with other editors to get their take on things (hopefully ones that know more about Tekken than I do). With that, I hope you have great day! CaptainGalaxy 20:08, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Exit 8 small edit

[edit]

hi there! i recently edited your The Exit 8 article, removing a mention of a mechanic which i believe is not actually present in the game.

a couple of things before i explain further: i'm not really familiar with wikipedia editing, and i'm ESL (as you can tell by my IP address!)

so, the article mentions that the man who walks by the player on every loop acts as a timer, and if he reaches the end of the corridor before the player makes a choice, it will count as a fail state and reset you back to Exit 0, regardless of if your subsequent choice is actually correct. that's not true! i tested this in game, i waited for a long time after the man left the corridor, and then i made the correct choice (both cases, anomaly and non-anomaly), and the game did not set me back to Exit 0. i think the author of the source article just made a mistake assessing the mechanics of the game. i know of course that my own informal experiment is not a wikipedia-worthy source, and it's pretty hard to prove a negative, but i'll try! (using sources from the article)

- this article states that anomalies are "integrated in such a way that [...] demand players take their time and thoroughly examine everything"

- this review describes the game as sometimes comfy and relaxing, which wouldn't make sense if every loop had a strict time limit

- this guide makes no mention of such mechanic in its introductory section

anyway, that's all i had to say! i don't know why this detail bothered me so much, but i just had to see it get fixed, lol. i won't bother you with re-editing the article, i'm not trying to start a petty edit war.

have a nice day! 190.22.142.174 (talk) 03:27, 10 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I find your response here professional and respect the thought in not wanting to creating an edit war, neither would I.
