7th Costliest

[edit]

Per [1], Ike did only $36.9 billion and was 7th costliest. --67.85.37.186 (talk) 15:52, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Error in Impacts section for Hurricane Ike in Turks and Caicos

[edit]

Hello! I'm writing a book set in Grand Turk and South Caicos and spotted an error on this page. In the Impacts section it says the Carnival cruise ship terminal that was damaged was located in South Caicos. This is incorrect, it is over in Grand Turk. Recommend you tweak that sentence and move it up before the paragraph shifts to South Caicos. If you want to confirm, the Footnoted hurricane report PDF has this: Among the damaged buildings was Carnival Cruise Line’s two-year old, $60 million cruise ship terminal on Grand Turk. Thank you! 65.255.60.186 (talk) 11:47, 12 June 2022 (UTC) Nick Sullivan[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out! I've changed it accordingly. ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 14:51, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, to whoever's able to do so --

The link to the NHC bulletin as Citation 39 in the text is a dead link - it redirects to Francine now. Specifically, it's the first citation after this sentence:

The bulletin advised that residents living in single-family homes in some parts of coastal Texas faced "certain death" if they did not heed orders to evacuate.

There's an archived version available on NWS; it's available at https://www.weather.gov/media/hgx/projects/ike08/HGX_Products/HLS/HLSHGX_091108_1641Z.txt - I'd add it myself, but I'm not familiar with citation styles.

Cheers. -R.A.SPITZER [ USER / ALT / TALK / CONTRIBS ] 07:51, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
