Google Technology
[edit]What did google contribute to search engine technology? As a reader, I came to the history of google page looking for information about how the search engine itself came about and became popular--revolutionized internet searching, etc. What was new and different? As of the moment I write this, the article is nothing but the evolution of google as a corporation in the world of business. M.J.Willett 00:53, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, it is. They just lucky. Wikikikip (talk) 22:23, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
Google partnerships
[edit]Ther should be a part in this articla for Google partnerships.
Financing and IPO
[edit]This Washington Post article lists many important early investors (including AOL and Yahoo!) in Google, who do not find a place in the section. -- Sundar 06:50, Jan 3, 2005 (UTC)

- There's actually quite a bit more information in the History of Google as opposed to Google. This is actually standard practice on wikipedia as articles get very large. Plus, all of the criticism and controversy is here, as opposed to the main article, since generally, the controversy of today becomes tomorrow's history,... Dr. Cash 00:17, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- If anything, this article needs to be split between the History section and the Criticism section. Stev0 20:05, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree with Dr. Cash - This page (currently) even does not say anything about the start in 1996!!! Aadaam 21:51, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Early financing

Government Funding
[edit]Shouldn't the history section mention who funded Larry Page and Sergey Brin original research project. NSF Rethinks Its Digital Library Jeffrey Mervis, Science 2 January 2009: Vol. 323. no. 5910, pp. 54 - 58, DOI: 10.1126/science.323.5910.54 and the references there in.--OMCV (talk) 02:17, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
Links
[edit]Just noticed that I see no way to save any of that section as written. Technical achievements should have academic papers and not simply rely on press statements; community terms are a noteworthy phenomenon but need secondary sources for notability. The specific phenomenon that Google rankings were static for periods of time of up to a month before July 2003 is not addressed at all in the current form. offered to yahoo
[edit]Page and Brink offered pagerank to yahoo for 1 million $ in 1998.213.149.61.222 (talk) 13:09, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
Goverment connections
[edit]According to [1] it has connections to CIA and NSA, so it would be good to include projects they did for the agencies. Google earth (to support US troops during operation Iraqi freedom) is one, Google Federal (launched in 2006)... Setenzatsu.2 (talk) 16:52, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Google Intro
[edit]This statement that the search engine went through many updates in attempts to eradicate search engine optimization, is actually untrue and requires further substantiation. For example, Google Search company mission statement is to improve the quality of search for its end user. This is a historical document published way back in 1996 at the Stanford University. No where in official company statements by the parent Alphabet Inc. is there an admission that Google's aim is to eradicate search engine optimization. And I don't work for Google before you ask.
