[edit]Hi Stufroguk! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. |
Sport in England
[edit]I notice all the material you've been adding at England - which is great, but will raise issues of giving too much prominence to details, given that the article is supposed to summarise everything about England. It might be better if you added more details at Sport in England - where there are new sections needed - and then it would be possible to summarise them better in the main England article itself. And don't forget to add reliable sources wherever you can, as well. Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:43, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- No problem, thanks - though we do need to get the balance right, so that football, say, is treated more prominently than, for example Formula 1 or darts. If you leave messages on user or article talk pages, please remember to sign them with four of these: ~ Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:37, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
I still don't think you're going about this the right way. The main article on sport in England is.... Sport in England - but I don't see you making any edits there. It is that article that is the one that needs to be expanded, or at least improved. A summary of the most important aspects should then be at the England article - but, in my view you are doing it the wrong way round. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:56, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
I take your point. I intend on adding content to the Sport in England. Just because I haven't yet doesn't mean that I'm not going to. Stufroguk (talk) 12:06, 14 November 2013
Your recent editing history at England shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. . PS: You need to discuss this on the article talk page, not try to have a discussion via reversions and edit summaries. Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:09, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- As I said - please make your comments on the article talk page - not in edit summaries - so that other editors can contribute to the discussion. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:47, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
This was all sorted in the end via the power of democratic discussion, education, acceptance, and understanding. The page is much better now and was partially reduced and content moved to where it should be. Still a few errors on there but will edit those as soon as possible. - Stufroguk (talk) 16:40, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks. sorry just responded via your talk page before I saw this message. I managed to draft and add all the edits you requested apart from the logo. I don't quite understand the image tool, it rejects a talk or edit page, only accepts published encyclopaedic entry. thanks. - Stufroguk (talk) 16:37, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

@Gigs Good feedback. The article has been edited to reflect suggestions regarding confusion over subject matter; social media brand mentions have been removed; further sources added; and subjective comment regarding the moderate success of a social media campaign has been removed also. - Stufroguk (talk) 15:55, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Stufroguk. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Praxidicae (talk) 19:50, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Nationalrail.co.uk homepage 2022.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Nationalrail.co.uk homepage 2022.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Seawolf35 T--C 16:50, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
