Interview with Taylor Miller
[edit]I've noticed that this hasn't shown up yet... This interview with Taylor Miller, the producer of both Rivals games, said:
"I have included SEGA's response: "Although there may have been some differences in the story setting for both Sonic Rivals 1 and Sonic Rush, Eggman- Nega is same character. He comes from another dimension, and the reference of time was to place the mystery of the cards in context with the story. We really hadn't effectively changed where Eggman-Nega comes from, just added another dimension if you like to the overall storyline."
If this is correct, then Nega in the Rivals games is apparently NOT from the future... Or it may just confuse things even more. Should this be added to the article? --Cronosonic (talk) 22:50, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
No. People'll will get more confused...SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 18:47, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
This article is shoddy!
[edit]Sorry about this but this article needs to go back to minor villians section. I'm going to request a merge for this one and the cream one as well for they look so slacked.Wolly da wanderer 23:13, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Eggman Nega has become one of the main villains. He is as a major character as Silver. This article is fine leave it alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.236.153 (talk) 19:52, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay dude don't worry I changed my mind about the merger thing. Instead I'll add the refences and external links bits to make it look better.Wolly da wanderer 02:34, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
This page just needs to be completely re-written. It was explained in Sonic Rivals 2 that Nega is actually from the future, not another dimension as stated in Sonic Rush. Blaze the cat is also from the future. The Rush games refer to "Another dimension", whereas Rivals states he is from the future. This is obviously NOT a plothole, as 2006 also stated Blaze was from the future. Pretty much: Sonic 2006 happened. Which was retconned at the end of the Game. The future reset: Sonic Rush one and two happened. Then Sonic Rivals one and two, where we find out that Nega is from the future, and not another dimension. Something that 2006 also backs up. ¬_¬

Sonic Rivals 1 & 2 happened if you like it or not
[edit]Just because it may not fit in well with other games dosn't mean it didn't happen. And just because Nega first appeared in Rush dosn't mean that games he was in after aren't canon. So do you think that Sonic still lives on mobius, even though new games have cleared up that he dosn't? Just because you like Rush better dosn't mean that it must be right. Anyway this can be explained:
-SONIC RIVALS- Nega first comes to the present but Sonic thinks hes Eggman
-SONIC RIVALS 2- Nega comes back for revenge. At the end of the game he is trapped under rubble in the other dimension explaining why he is from another dimension in Rush.
-SONIC RUSH- He comes back from the other dimension where Blaze also lives. Sonic KNOWINGLY meets him for the 1st time. He's sent back there again at the end of the game. He puts his differences aside with the other Eggman so they team up.
-SONIC RUSH ADVENTURE- Is shown living in the other dimension. Teams up with Eggman again.
^There i thought that had been explained. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.248.156 (talk) 19:30, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
But why would Eggman forgive and why do they work so well in the Rush series. It isn't particurally likely that Blaze's is the same as Ifrits dimension. This is an obvious plothole. Most of all Sega takes japanese more seriously then American ones like the mobius problem you mentioned. Sonic rivals is made by an American company and didn't invent the character so has little standing.
Sonic Rush adventure also clearly estiblashes as Eggman's counterpart, has fought Blaze for a long time and is one of the things that connect the two worlds. Delsait (talk) 21:07, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Fine, if you people want to live in denial then fine. But do not shove your Anti-Sonic Rivals parade into this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.248.156 (talk) 23:15, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm going to wait until you give a real response rather then an attack. Delsait (talk) 08:44, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Yes, i'll wait until you stop living in denial and stop pretending that these games never happened. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.248.156 (talk) 12:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Forget it, your not even listening . All American Sonic games are ignored if you paid attention. Delsait (talk) 20:50, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
I would laugh but it's not even funny. So are you saying that the Sonic Rivals 1 & 2 articles should be delted? The game cannot be ignored just because it was made by an American company. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.248.156 (talk) 22:02, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
No I'm not saying that. Sonic spinball and Robotnik's bean machine are non canon but they still have articles and I still need an actual point from you. Delsait (talk) 23:05, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
The point is Sonic Rivals and its sequel are real and Eggman Nega has a geniune role in both of them. The reason the games haven't been released in Japan is because Sonic is alot less popular there than in Europe and America, not because the series shouldn't be counted. The Rush series may have not been released there if it had not been for it being made in Japan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.248.156 (talk) 23:30, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay now we're getting somewhere. Lets just add a note that the continuties may be seperate and call it a day.
Delsait (talk) 03:24, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay thats fine with me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.43.248.156 (talk) 13:48, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I thinking the alternate dimension at some part of time colided with the future. That's what cased the whole plothole thing. I heard that in a few years Sega will have a Silve and Blaze game that will clear things up. I think Sega's doing what they did with Shadow for a bit, then clear things up, and focus on new characters, and a new plot. Just what i think. -SLJCOAAATR —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.191.37.40 (talk) 15:04, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
There is no possible way any of the proposed theories are right, as we never see the "Alternate dimension" clash with the "future". here's a reasonable solid explanation I gave on another area of Wiki, without having to put my own theories in between to make it work:
Sonic 2006: It is revealed that Blaze is from the Future, and she knows Silver. Blaze makes no reference to knowing Sonic in this game (however, she says "Blue hedgehog?", which could be interpreted in a number of ways... either subconsciously *See Donnie Darko*, or just actually asking!), so we can assume this game is 'chronologically' the first game for Blaze to appear in. After the timeline is reset, the future changes. The Flame of Solaris never officially existed in the Sonic world, and thus non of the events happen from ten years earlier to the beginning of the Sonic game, thus making Sonic watch the Elise parade and then disappear on his next adventure...
Sonic Rush: Eggman Nega appears He did not appear in 2006 due to the different future, which is referred to as "another dimension") Blaze also comes from the future to regain the Sol emeralds. The mix in timelines is due to Eggman and Nega's works. At the end of the game, Blaze travels back to her time, which is still referred to as "Another dimension".
Sonic Rush Adventure: Sonic and Tails go into Blazes "dimension", and battle enemies. They then return home after fighting Nega and Eggman again!
Sonic Rivals One and Two: Eggman Nega appears, and reveals that he is Eggmans descendant to Shadow, and thus proves he, (and Blaze + Silver, and Marine, and any other "Alternate dimension" characters) are from the future and not another dimension as the in-game characters originally suspected. Silver comes from the future again (but actually for the first time), and does not recognise Sonic, or anyone, due to the time being reset in Sonic 2006. Nega reveals he has come to capture his ancestor Eggman, as Eggman's failed attempts in the past ruin his descendants name in the future, and thus he has travelled through time to correct this and conquer the world before his time.
The reason why Silver and Blaze do not know each other in the 'Rush and Rivals' games is because time reset. Their whole lives played out differently. They weren't born into a world of disaster, but a relatively peaceful one.
As for the whole Queen/Princess thing... Think about it... if a timeline changes... other things change.... Blaze is a Queen in 2006, yet a princess in the DS games... We have 5 games from this series. One (x360) states that they are from the future, and then the timeline resets.
Also, the reason why Silver and Blaze do not know each other is because time reset. Their whole lives played out differently. They weren't born into a world of disaster, but a relatively peaceful one.
One series (DS) tells us Nega, Blaze etc are from another dimension.
Another series (PSP) tells us that Nega, Silver etc are from the future.
If that wasn't enough proof, then think of this: Sega has always been interested in Time travel in the Sonic series (Such as Sonic CD, Chaos Control, Sonic Adventure flashbacks). Yuji naka (now departed from the team) was also a fan of Dragon Ball Z: Silver is more or less a direct homage to Trunks, and the whole "Timeline change" is also reminiscent of Dragon ball Z.
Y'know, you guys, Sega have been mixing games up chronologically since Sonic Battle (which was released around the same time as Sonic Heroes, where Shadow did not have a memory, yet in Battle, makes direct reference to Gerald, Maria, and his past in detail, thus showing it comes AFTER Shadow The Hedgehog), and it continues to baffle and confuse you. Really, they're doing the whole "Zelda/Metroid" thing. Blaze IS from the future, however in the Rush games we have not yet found this out, and DS owners possibly won't, well, unless you own a PSP and Rivals one and two. But really: Blaze- From the future. The American site contradicts this, however it is either wrong (again... there were millions of mistakes on the Shadow website, and Riders), or they're trying to keep it a secret from you Rush fans. The thing about all the "fan theories" is that they tend to make things up or place things which COULD happen, however, as you'll see all I've done to correct this issue is place the games in an order different to their actual releases, and the SEGA sites are hardly trustworthy when it comes to in-depth story information.
I won't edit the page itself, as I feel it would cause arguments and such, however, I would muchly appreciate it if my posts information was taken into account when another edit is considered. =] after all, I only wrote in to help.
Note: just to throw in something completely useless: I reckon the Sol Emeralds are the Future Chaos Emeralds. For these reasons:
For the information stated above about the Alt. Dimension being the future, it would mean the Sol Emeralds would have to exist in the past. There are Seven Sol Emeralds. There are Seven Chaos Emeralds. They are all the same colours, yet do not exist in the same time zones. In the future, there is (what seems to be) a lack of a Master Emerald, which leaves me to conclude that something freaaaky happened at a point in time.
The Chaos Emeralds react when they are near each other, as do the Sol Emeralds (The Chaos Emerald theory spoken in a previous game, and the Sol Emerald one being apparent, as they are needed close by to turn 'Super'). When both sets are in contact, as they are essentially the same objects, they cannot be near each other, as the energy is too much, thus driving them apart (detailed in Sonic Rush). They are like North and South poles, and the reason I think they cannot exist in the same "dimension" is because there are only meant to be 7 Chaos Emeralds, not 14.
Why are they called the SOL Emeralds? Well, it could be linked to SOLARIS from sonic 2006, however that seems unlikely, as it was wiped out, never to exist. However, the title of "Princess" which is connected to Blaze could have been passed down from the Royal Family (Which Elise is part of). SOL also is a foreign word for SUN or BRIGHT, so well.... one can only speculate about this part of the story... and it is yet to be revealed! Will it be revealed? Hell yeah! I've never been wrong about any Up-coming Sonic Stories so far :P
Anyway sorry for the LONG rant. Enjoy discussing!Tquinnathome1 (talk) 20:18, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Clap clap clap* I'd have to say that was THE BEST theory i've EVER heard! ;) I actually oce came up with a very simiar theory about the emeralds. It could be connected to Soleanna? I'm writing a new fanfic. that explains everything quite throughly. I still believe that SEGA will wrap things up nicely in a Silver + Blaze game in a few years. Just like they did with Shadow. After that, they focus on a new mystery with new characters.SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 19:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! :) I really appreciate your opinion! =] Apart from the end where I make future guesses, I think my theory is pretty good. It doesn't contradict the games, and it doesn't add any 'fan' information based on assumptions or guesses, so I'd say 100% that that's the correct storyline, but I'm not going to edit the Wikipage, as I'm no good at editing, and I'd rather not cause arguments with people who disagree =[. But yeah, if you think about it: Soleanna is based on fire and such for their festivals, and Blaze has fire-based attacks. The 'SOL' emeralds have a similar name to the place and Solaris, so something fishy is definitely going on! Elise was a Princess... Blaze is a Princess. Perhaps she's the heir to Soleanna, but a lot happens in 200 years, so who knows why she is the protector of the Sol emeralds. I also think Silver is somehow connected to an existing Sonic character. He seems like Shadow, and if the Dragon Ball series factors into the story in any way, I'd say that is was actually Shadow and Amy's children, but that's going a bit far. However, Amy did hug Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2, and he is very similar to Sonic. Perhaps someone settled for second best! Poor Amy! =[
Anyway, if any of this helps with your fanfics, then great! :) Good luck with them by the way, I'd like to see how they're getting on :) 82.3.154.247 (talk) 21:28, 27 January 2008 (UTC)tquinnathome1 (not signed in, Wiki wouldn't let me)
I personally think that Silver's the decscendant of Amy and Knux. Amy hugs everyone though. She's color-blind, and thinks everyone's Sonic,...well...GUNs the same way...AND Eggy...I'm trying 2 finish TS on SH2,...but,...i got WB...SLJCOAAATR 1 (talk) 06:19, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Deletion
[edit]Why is this article getting deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fairfieldfencer (talk • contribs) 22:19, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Because there is a witch hunt going on for minor video game characters, you should always comment on the deletion disscution page (in this case Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eggman Nega) if you disagree with the nomination to delete! Doktor Wilhelm 22:30, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Merge.
[edit]In all honesty, the AfD result was contrary to the actual result of the AfD - about 60% of the people wanted to either delete or merge/redirect the content, and the 40% who wanted it to have its own article didn't give good arguments that validates it surviving a second AfD. It hasn't improved in notability since the first AfD, and surviving this AfD just shows that the closer wasn't paying attention to this fact. Because of this, the article should be merged. - A Link to the Past (talk) 15:23, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I was paying attention. You list an "opinion" as "fact", which is problematic to assuming good faith. I saw the discussion as not having a clear consensus for deletion, which matches your statistical analysis above. AfD is not a vote, and as our policy requires, I leaned toward keep when there was no clear consensus for delete. - I pointed out that the first AfD didn't result in any one single editor to make an attempt at improving the article's problems at all, which is a very good reason why consensus "rules" are overruled. The main problem with Eggman Nega was that the article didn't assert notability, and despite having so much time to improve it, nothing has been done. If it can't have its notability established, then that should have been taken into account with the closing decision. The first "keeper" only gave "was in three hugely popular games", and in fact said that it lacks sources. The second cited the previous discussion (which passed despite it having no sources asserting notability, and everyone saying "keep, but needs to be improved", which didn't exactly result in anything). The third was "he is a different character from Eggman", and the fourth said "major character in a notable series" (which is misleading, since he's a major character in three games out of dozens of others). First deleter mentioned its "cruftish nature" (and in fact, most of the content involves the three games' plot summary), Second deleter (me) cited that the content in the article is the same as that in Eggman's article, third deleter said that the first AfD failed because people insisted it was notable, but as we can see, no one ever established this. Simply put, the fact that the article had no improvement since the first AfD and has not had any references for reception or development at all since the second brings into question if anyone is actually ever going to establish that their claim of it being notable is legitimate. If no one is going to do it, it shouldn't be an article. If someone ends up doing it, they can unmerge it AFTER they put any effort into doing such a thing. - A Link to the Past (talk) 22:53, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- I do not agree. Actually wikipedia is a special project that has no deadlines. It is okay if poorer quality articles never get imrpoved. That just shows average readers that the little edit button at the top can be used by anyone. No rush to finish the project and remove the edit button from the top. Recommendations to delete on the basis that the article has not improved since the last time somebody listified their concerns with its quality are usually ignored when determining consensus at AfD. It is also perfectly acceptable for several articles to have overlapping scope of coverage. Just because the Star Wars article describes C3PO in some detail is not a valid reason to delete the C3PO article. If the article truly made no assertion of notability, then it could have been speedy-deleted. Surviving an AfD seems to disprove your statement. Jerry talk ¤ count/logs 04:35, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Let's stop flapping about the AFD and focus on this article. This article has one single referenced claim. It can easily be collapsed (by ditching excess headers and the infobox) and merged to the Sonic character list.
