Diddy

[edit]

Diddy now redirects to Diddy Kong. Diddy Kong is more overly known as Diddy than Sean Combs is. Also, Diddy Kong has no legal name, but Sean Combs does.

Please refrain from changing redirects of famous names to point to video games. -Harmil 03:07, 4 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Please refrain from changing redirects of famous video games to point to washed-out rappers. What do you know, it works that way too. 71.245.139.158 (talk) 21:12, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I added that diddy kong is called that due to the english slang word diddy to mean small also i think he is to resemble a spider monkey — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.14.5.241 (talk) 17:24, 30 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Personality

[edit]

This says nothing about his personality. Does he have one?

What the...

[edit]

Why do the 12 sections repeat about seven times?!

"Diddy Kong Country"?

[edit]

This is mentioned in passing toward the end of this article right now. Where did this info come from? I can see Nintendo making a new game with their newly acquired character, but I haven't heard anything about it. --HeroicJay 17:36, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

related?

[edit]

how are diddy and donkey kong related? P.h 20:20, 5 April 2006 (UTC)p.h answer?? P.h 13:59, 18 April 2006 (UTC)p.hP.h 13:59, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • There's no concrete answer. The most commonly accepted explanation is that they aren't, as one is a gorilla and the other is a monkey. For a brief while Diddy was referred to in promotional materials as DK's nephew, but that was quickly dropped.

Cranky is Diddy's grandfather (and also Dixie, but that's another story), according to his introductory line in DKC2. So yes, they're related.

Quickly dropped? It's been used as late as the Super Smash Bros. series.

They are not related at all, but Diddy looks up to Donkey Kong like an uncle and Donkey considers him his nephew 58.170.12.30 05:07, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This has come up again, with people even saying it's been mentioned in the Super Smash Bros. series. This is, as far as I can tell, completely false. Diddy wasn't even in the first two Super Smash Bros. games (not even as a trophy), and in the third, there is no mention of Diddy being DK's nephew in his trophy, Snake's codec regarding Diddy, or the instruction manual. Where else in the game would this be mentioned? The possibility of Diddy being DK's nephew has only ever been mentioned once ever, and it was proceeded by the word "wannabe". I see no reason to list Diddy as DK's nephew. --HeroicJay (talk) 22:06, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But, and this is crucial, how do we KNOW that the "wannabe" part and the "nephew" part go together? We don't. It could just as easily mean that Diddy is DK's wannabe. With no proof, you can't say anything. CBFan (talk) 11:41, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, your edit was simply wrong; it's stated in the DKC manual, not SSB. Secondly, Donkey Kong is a gorilla and Diddy Kong is a monkey. --HeroicJay (talk) 05:06, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, that was not MY edit, so don't blame me. Secondly...so? What you're posting is speculation. CBFan (talk) 09:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Diddy and Donkey Kong don't seem to be related, and the fact that Cranky is apparently Diddy and Dixie's grandfather was probably a term used loosely, and didn't mean that they were related in any way. Son Gohan (talk) 15:59, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He might be in it? Sweetnes! say is there an artical that show's the resultes of the poll

Rap Verse

[edit]

I deleted the rap verse section that contained his part of the rap from Donkey Kong 64. As I explained in the edit summary, it doesn't inform readers about his character, is not notable, and simply doesn't belong on a character page (especially in it's own section). Agreed? JAPANESE NAME

[edit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donkey_Kong ON DONKEY KONGS PAGE IT SAY

Donkey Kong (ドンキーコング, Donkī Kongu?) (or sometimes referred to simply as DK) is a video game character from Nintendo that has appeared in many video games since 1981. He appears as both antagonist and protagonist of the Donkey Kong Country series. Donkey Kong was created by Shigeru Miyamoto. Since 1994 he has worn a necktie, his sole item of clothing.

ON DIDDY KONG PAGE IT SAY

Diddy Kong is a fictional character in the Donkey Kong series of video games. He lives on the fictional Donkey Kong Island in the Kongo Jungle, and is identifiable in his red hat and shirt. Unlike Donkey Kong, who is a gorilla, Diddy is in fact a monkey. This variance in size is often played up between the two in the games they appear together in.

ON DIDDY KONG PAGE IT SHOULD SAY

Diddy Kong (INSERT JAPANESE NAME HERE, INSERT WAPANESE HERE) is a fictional character in the Donkey Kong series of video games. He lives on the fictional Donkey Kong Island in the Kongo Jungle, and is identifiable in his red hat and shirt. Unlike Donkey Kong, who is a gorilla, Diddy is in fact a monkey. This variance in size is often played up between the two in the games they appear together in.

DONKEY KONG DOES ORIGINATE FROM JAPAN AFTER ALL IS SAID

Diddy Kong was created by Rare, though, and therefore does not originate from Japan. Or does the fact that Donkey Kong does create a precedence? SwiftTheBaron 02:20, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shut up weaboo, Diddy Kong was created by Rare an English company. 58.170.12.30 05:08, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What exactly IS Diddy Kong?

[edit]

He's usually called a monkey (though apparently he's occasionally listed as a, chimpanzee probably in materials released before Donkey Kong Country), but in the Donkey Kong Land manual, it says, right on Page 7, that "Water doesn't faze our ape heroes either." So he's considered an ape, chimpanzee, or monkey? 208.101.140.76 00:01, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, he isnt an ape, because apes dont have tails, or tails as long as diddys. I belive that Monkey would be the ptroper way to adress him. Blumonkeyboy 17:46, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chimpanzees ARE apes. And Diddy Kong is not a chimpanzee nor an ape. It is obviously a monkey due to its long tail, unless it got surgery or was involved in some genetics experiment. --216.165.32.37 (talk) 22:54, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

He has to be some kind of New World Monkey. He can't be an ape or an Old World Monkey because he has a prehensile tail. Which then begs the question, how did he make it to the eastern hemisphere to hang out with apes like Donkey Kong? 185.205.48.183 (talk) 10:45, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Diddy - 弟弟 connection?

[edit]

I was wondering if there may be a connection between Diddy's name and the Chinese word for little brother "didi". Is this a coincidence or do you think he may have been named this way on purpose?

Dinky kong

[edit]

It is stated that Diddy Kong was originally going to be named "Dinky Kong" but was instead named Diddy due to "unspecified legal issues." But Rare created a character named Dinky Kong (Kiddy Kong in Japan.) In fact there is a japan only game called Donkey Kong Land 3: Dixie Kong and Dinky Kong. Im not sure where these "legal issues" come in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.224.28.235 (talk) 01:46, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rare created a character named Kiddy Kong. He was only named Dinky Kong in Japan for Donkey Kong Country 3 and Donkey Kong Land 3. In other countries, he is known as Kiddy Kong for the two Donkey Kong games that he appears in. Maybe the legal issue is the word "dinky" being a reference to...you know what? Donkey Kong Jr.?

What is that image of Donkey Kong Jr. doing in this article? Diddy and DKJr. are DIFFERENT characters. --FrancineFan3883 (talk) 08:11, 13 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Most recent appearance"

[edit]

It says that his most recent appearance is super mario party, even though he's appeared in several more since its release 4 years ago. If he isn't in battle league then his most recent appearance would be in mario golf: super rush. 184.146.56.54 (talk) 18:13, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
