Talk:Cube (video game)
Untitled
[edit]Can anyone include when this game was first released? Thanks. --Aeon17x 20:09, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- The website says "Copyright 2002" in the bottom left corner. This is the oldest note I can find. http://web.archive.org/web/20080226091714/http://www.intergate.com/~spentron/cube/cube.html
- This article on wikipedia says 2001 and 2002 but I think 2001 is wrong.--84.60.247.199 (talk) 20:02, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]I don't agree with the notability tag (added Feb 2007). This is a very notable entry that is referred to by many independent reliable sources. Here are just a very few:

- Press releases, directory listings, and sites that wouldn't pass WP:Reliable sources, with the possible exception of insidemacgames.com; which alone isn't enough for notability, so I'm re-adding the tags. Marasmusine 20:05, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm pretty confused. Is this a game or a game engine? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.27.66.116 (talk) 13:55, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
The way I understand it, this is both a game AND an engine. That's not very clear when reading the article, though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.27.66.116 (talk) 14:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
It is a game and a game engine. The developper of the game engine tends to present his engine with a game. Like... Sauerbraten is an engine and a game, but this time some people call the game Cube2, rather because there is an RPG Eisenstern for that engine too. I find it difficult to cite reliable sources for computer games at all. I usually don't read gaming magazines. Those would be a better source though. Developers sometimes don't seem to be interested in reliable sources. -sigh- Stanzilla (talk) 11:32, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
A search for "cube game" yields the Cube homepage as the first hit, with Sauerbraten/Cube 2.0's homepage as the second hit. I might be mistaken, but aren't Google search results used to help ascertain notability? This is definitely a game most Linux users who've dabbled with 3D games are familiar with, and is the basis for Assaultcube/Actioncube. Wikipedia has an entry on that title, too. --24.63.197.6 (talk) 00:06, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's not enough to cite the official homepage of something. The first thing you see on the cubeengine page is Sauerbraten and that's not Cube. The kids don't know Cube anymore, and the linux community has problems with some of the textures, that are not free. They aren't free in Sauerbraten either, but in that case nobody seems to mind it. One of the miracles of Linuxers.
- We were talking about the difficulty to find thirdparty publications about games.--Stanzilla (talk) 10:56, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- Cube, as stated above, is Sauerbraten. It is simply the second version. Otherwise it would not be on the main Cube homepage. 173.22.29.202 (talk) 00:25, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Citation seven broken
[edit]But shouldn't it link to the SourceForge page anyway? —Preceding unsigned comment added by LeftClicker (talk • contribs) 23:50, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
