Art imitating life?
[edit]There is a singer who crossdresses as Shingo Mama for humor and is a national icon amongst children. The look between cooking mama and his act isnt a coincidence - (unsigned)
Menu change
[edit]Didn't they change the foods for the US version? Getting rid of exotic items like tempura and the like with more mundane things like hot dogs and spaghetti?
- No, they did not... I'm still preparing "Mixed Tempura", "Shrimp Wonton", etc... SilentGuy 23:45, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Please try to source as much as possible for this article. Doesn't seem to be a lot of sources. --Thorpe | talk 18:40, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Wii Version Release Date
[edit]I just noticed that the Wii version's release date differs between this page and the sequel's. I don't know the correct date, but I thought it should be checked. JellyFish72 01:10, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Cooking Mama as a series
[edit]One or more anonymous editors keep marking this article (i.e. "Cooking Mama") as being a title available for the Wii platform, despite the original "Cooking Mama" title being DS-exclusive. I'm not exactly clear on what the intent of this is, since the Wii version, "Cooking Mama: Cook Off" is an entirely separate title with a separate name, separate mechanics, and separate recipes. It is conceivable that the edits are being made in an attempt to turn this article into an article about the series, i.e. suggesting that "Cooking Mama" as an article should address the entire series. I don't happen to (currently) agree with this, and also believe this change can't be made without some form of discussion. Do other editors have any comments or feedback on this? -- Slordak 16:11, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Well this is a good article discussing the first game, so maybe we should consider creating another article addressing the Mama series as a whole. SunsetFlare (talk) 10:52, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
Edits by 86.45.232.233 & 86.46.164.236
[edit]One or both of these IP editors (they are probably the same editor) has been repeatedly removing the section about parodies, which is referenced. These have been the only edtis by these editors, except that 86.46.232.233 also blanked the Animal Rights Project page. In my edit summaries, I have repeated that these deletions were without explanation or discussion. Can this page be semi-protected to avoid future unresponsive IP editors? Parodies
[edit]I have reverted the parody info a couple of times. It has been removed at least twice without any explanation. Clearly this was a parody, albeit for another purpose, of the game and the text is referenced, so I am unsure why it is being removed without explanation or discussion. Please explain. Thanks Bob98133 (talk) 13:50, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- This is a series criticism, not a game criticism, and it's controversy, not parody. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 16:51, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- I agree that the Peta version is critical of the game/series, but it still seems like a parody, too. A controversy section seems pretty random in this article. I thought this kind of fit under sequels, but maybe Reception is a better heading for it? It is referenced and relevant to the game/series and Cooking Mama staff replied to it, so it does seem like it belongs in the article. Bob98133 (talk) 18:37, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm working on a series article, and when it's done, it will be put in that article, ideally, as it deals with the whole Cooking Mama series. Also, it still stands as controversy - the point of the PETA action wasn't to make a parody, but to make controversy over the series. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! - Agree w/your changes - makes sense. Bob98133 (talk) 15:35, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Merging
[edit]I believe that the three of them should be merged here. IMO, the only difference is how they're made and how they're received; the gameplay's pretty much redundant. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 02:48, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
