Notability

[edit]

Is this notable? I've never heard of it. Andre (talk) 23:28, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have you heard of this excellent new website called Google? Tim 11:05, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Considering that Consolevania is watched by thousands of people, and directly led to to the creation of at least two series of a BBC television series, yeah, I'd say it's notable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.13.242.68 (talkcontribs)

Putting aside the sarcasm of the other posters, I'd argue that Consolevania's as worthy as an entry as any web-broadcast show. In fact, more than the vast majority, with its success leading to the comissioning of the BBC's "Videogaiden" show by Consolevania's creators. Its deletion would probably contribute to Wikipedia's occasional American-centric bias. It really should stay. (Kieron Gillen 08:43, 19 April 2006 (UTC)). Felt the following might be worth reprinting, in light of the new section on him:

While he had come under some criticism from video game enthusiasts for his complete image makeover that seemed to coincide with his role as a top publicity figure for the Xbox brand of products, it has never been proven. Many think that his new image, (Earring, designer shirts with metallic accents, shaved head, in contrast to his previous partially bald crown and plaid wardrobe) is an example of Microsoft (And game companies in general) pandering to the superficial credibility standards held by teenagers, while it may just be who he is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StuntRaceFX (talkcontribs)

I'd say that the show is a pioneer, and therefore relevant - not many online shows move to broadcast TV - certainly not anywhere as reputable as the BBC.

Considering this is the direct progenetor of the only gaming television show to be greenlit by the BBC in... well, it's entire history, as far as I'm aware, I believe the article should remain.

Allard Bashing

[edit]

Whilst people are trying to make this page tidier, is the J Allard bashing stuff really wortht of a whole section? I'm just thinking along the lines that there aren't sections for all the other people that get 'bashed' by the show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Personaljesus (talkcontribs)

I agree. They don't make it a personal mission to attack J. Allard anymore than they do for say, Reggie or Peter Molyneux. Well... in any case, perhaps the section should be changed to discuss how they satirize many industry figures and representatives, rather than just an Allard bash-fest. --SevereTireDamage 07:01, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
