Would you please modify the "Members" section of the Wiki to include more information regarding the members, such as their position in the group, birthdays, blood type, height, etc.. Please refer to the Block B Wiki which includes their "Real Name", "Stage Name", " Hangul", "Position" and "Birthday" regarding the members in a table format (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_B). This would be a good modification to the page as they do not have individual pages at this current time and as a result of this, viewers are unable to find basic information on the members on Wikipedia. Thank you.

– This music group has been subject to various names to the English-speaking world (Bangtan Boys, Bulletproof Boy Scouts, BTS) , but the official established name appears to be BTS. Their official website lists them as BTS, and they are listed as such on the verified Facebook, iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, their music video titles, and all of their album covers. Due to the widespread usage of 'Bangtan Boys' across the projects in other languages and the Commons category as well, I felt the merit to a discussion; perhaps the result here can trickle down elsewhere. — ξxplicit 05:26, 27 February 2016 (UTC)

BTS (band) → Bangtan Boys (band) – Current name 'BTS' is an acronym/shortened version of their bandname, and not their actual name. Although they are most recognizable with the acronym, it's important to note that 'BTS' is very vague and potentially confusing to those not familiar with the group and could refer to several other things, whereas 'Bangtan Boys' is their official English name and difficult to confuse with other topics. Although several of their pages refer to them as 'BTS', their links refer to them as 'Bangtan' (shorted from Bangtan Boys) like their Facebook and YouTube Fan Cafe, which are all pages moderated by the official company. They use both terms interchangeably.
There are also other groups that are more often referred to with the abbreviation/shortened version of their name, such as SNSD and WJSN, but their official article titles remain their actual names instead of the abbreviated version. Jeongguk (talk) 06:21, 11 September 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. — Amakuru (talk) 21:57, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per #Requested move 27 February 2016. The official name of the group in English-speaking countries is 'BTS'. The comparison to 'SNSD' for Girls' Generation is misguided; the acronym isn't the official name for English-speaking countries, unlike for BTS. The article for Cosmic Girls is a bit more complicated because they are listed as 'WJSN' on its official Facebook page and on iTunes, the record company appears to use both interchangeably, and reliable sources seem to prefer the former. Regardless, the other groups are other stuff exists arguments and each article needs to be dealt with individually. Here, 'BTS' prevails in all scenarios. — ξxplicit 07:07, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

The label themselves announced, “We are thrilled to welcome BTS to the Def Jam family. It’s remarkable how they have established a strong career in such a short period of time, and we wish them more successes in the years to come,". [1]

Hi, this only happened a few hours ago, however, BTS have recently broken a record and become the most voted for artist in 24 hours in the BBMAs social artist section. I sourced this from a twitter page - BTSBBMAs - so if you don't consider this solid enough evidence then okay, but I thought this was rather noticeable because they are, obviously, the first K-pop group to be nominated for a BBMA. This should be added, if it is added, here: In 2017, BTS gained a nomination at the Billboard Music Awards for 'Top Social Artist'. (here) Thank you! Weeks on Social 50
BTS have spent 46 weeks on the Social 50 chart (billboard.com) but it's still shown as 37 weeks in Wikipedia. Is there a fixed frequency to update this? Else I'd like to suggest updating it weekly, if not, at no more than 4 weeks interval. Pixiepuf (talk) 16:50, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

History and Endorsement Update
This edit request to BTS (band) has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Can I request that under their history, the following be included:
Their inclusion in the 2018 Guinness Book of Records for most retweeted artist (group) Note: alternatively, the book itself can be referenced. [1]
Their involvement in Seo Taiji's concert and his responses (not just that they did a cover of one of his songs) [2]
The release of their Love Yourself series on Youtube, not just their comeback. More details can be given here... [3]
Their winning the Brand Award and Broadcast Award in Korea. [4] [5]
Being the first Kpop artist to officially release their music through Amazon. [6]
They were also chosen by leading figures in Kpop (such as the CEOs of YG etc) as the top Kpop group of 2017, and the only group in the top 5 most influential figures. [7]
Their inclusion in the NY Times' top 50 artists listened to in America (they ranked higher than Lady Gaga etc. Official rank #44). [8]
Rolling Stones Magazine named them as one of the upcoming artists to listen to following their BB win. [9]
'Her' currently ranks #39 of the most sold albums of 2017 on Amazon, beating Beyonce's Lemonade. They have also been dominating the CD/Vinyls bestseller list since Her's preorder release on Amazon. [10] [11]
Two of their songs (I need you and Dope) have spent more than 100 weeks on the world music billboard song chart, a feat that ties them with Psy as the only Kpop artists to have done so. This can be verified on world digital songs chart on 'list of kpop songs on the billboard charts' wiki page.[12]
Under endorsements (or maybe history?) it should include the launch of their new cosmetic line[13] [14]
their special shoe with Puma[15] [16]
their collaboration with I Seoul You, which was their biggest ad campaign to date.Cite error: A <ref>

Angelflare85 (talk) 22:28, 14 September 2017 (UTC)Soompi is used as a source on several articles on wiki, for example the 'list of awards and nominations received by BTS', EXO's page etc. The wiki pages I sourced were only used as an example to link to my info (the one for their award was so it was easy to get to the citation; the second was for comparing the info with Psy and also because the world digital songs chart is kept updated there without the sources. To get to the chart itself requires billboard biz. Nevertheless, even ignoring these, the rest of my info seems fine so can it be edited?

Alright, this is all in line with the demands. I will edit the rest soon. However, I maintain that if Soompi is used by other wiki pages, I don't understand why it isn't allowed on this one. Peachisoda and all the articles referenced here have been used on this BTS page before, so it is compliance with this article.
Start:
In July, BTS were chosen by leading executive entertainment figures in Kpop as the most influential K-pop group of 2017, and the only group in the top 5 most influential figures overall. [17] This was followed by Rolling Stones Magazine naming them as one of the top upcoming artists to listen to, while on 7 August, The New York Times' declared BTS as one of top 50 artists listened to in America. [18] They ranked at #44, which put them higher than many influential artists such as Lady Gaga. [19]
In August, it was announced that BTS had won the Artist 'Brand of the Year' Korean award, which was based on votes by Korean consumers, as well as the Artist 'Korean Broadcast Award' which is based on votes by a panel of Korean music critics and industry professionals. (see the help page).
To replace the simple declaration of the Come Back Home Cover:
Following their cover of Seo Taiji and Boys' 'Come Back Home', BTS collaborated with Seo Taiji at his 25th anniversary concert to perform 8 songs for the evening. [21] Seo Taiji went as far as to declare the current Kpop scene as the era of BTS. [22]
To replace the simple announcement of 'Her' comeback:
Big Hit entertainment began releasing posters with the slogan 'Love Yourself' on 10 August 2017, and followed up with a series of mysterious 'Highlight Reels' released from August 15. [23] These were revealed prior to their declaration of their comeback in September, and their new era of music centring around the concept of 'Love Yourself', which was also referenced in the Billboard Music Awards' acceptance speech. [24]
On 4 September, the comeback trailer, Serendipity, was released, with this being the first solo intro by the vocal line.[25]
It received more than a million likes within 24 hours and trended four different tags on Twitter during this period. [26]
This was followed by the declaration by Loen Entertainment that BTS had over 1 million local preorders of their new EP, 'Her'. [27]
'Her' allowed BTS to also become the first Kpop artist to officially release their music through Amazon. [28]
'Her' currently ranks #39 of the most sold albums of 2017 on Amazon and also ranks number one on the hourly-updated CD/Vinyls bestseller list since Her's preorder release on Amazon, which resulted in 'Her' being sold out by 14 September 2017. [29]

In the overview, please change "The group also managed to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with the album's title track at #85 and a week later progressed to #67, 'DNA'." to "The group also managed to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with the album's title track, "DNA", which entered at #85 and peaked at #67." That's one phrasing suggestion -- the wording in the original is a bit disorganized with the title track named at the end. Pocketmon (talk) 06:11, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

Requesting an addition to the 'History' section to include the 'Global Artist Award' from Melon Music Awards. Also while we're at it, is it possible to have a separate section on 'Awards and Nominations'? It would help provide a quick snapshot of their achievements. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.99.18.125 (talk) 14:20, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
There’s no reason for a list of their awards to be listed when this has its own article in the “see more” section Alexanderlee (talk) 14:22, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Makes sense, sorry about that! Though is it not possible to add that they won their 4th Daesang at the Melon Music Awards? And the 'Global Star' award is quite a big deal, considering Melon stopped awarding it after Psy in 2013, and brought back this award for BTS? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.99.18.125 (talk) 14:34, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
Reverting major revision made on 10 December 2017
I have reverted the edit made on 10 December 2017 (and all edits made to it since) to the previous version. Sections were divided solely according to seemingly arbitrary levels of success, which I do not find suitable for this article. In terms of copy-editing (style, grammar, cohesion, and tone), I did not observe a significant improvement upon the previous version. Information within sections was also at times disorganized. There were additional minor additions that editorialized the article. Notable information had been removed, including but not limited to dates of album and single releases. Because it was a major revision contribution being put forth, I felt it necessary to open this up for discussion on the Talk page.
Pocketmon (talk) 18:58, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Pocketmon
- Disagree. This current revision is written poorly, with unnecessary and trivial information, whereas the other one was written to mirror One Direction, a GA article. Other articles that have been identified as FA (Taylor Swift, The Beatles) also don't list every single specific dates of albums and singles released. If you disagree with the headlines then there's room for discussion but there was not a need for reverting the edits. 2600:6C44:7F:FB4B:0:B4B1:F1C5:3B42 (talk) 00:56, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Disagree. If you didn’t notice a significant improvement then I can’t help you. This current revision is very choppy & unstructured. The other one isn’t perfect but it was better written compare to this one. I’d say revert it back to the one that was changed majorly, especially if other editors had no issue with it previously. Members
All members bio should be included... Mistyvbts (talk) 19:05, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Mistyvbts: The article is about a group, and the history of the group should be presented here. It's beyond the scope of the article to present the full history of each member (although a cursory summary might be appropriate). For those members who are notable people, their bios can be presented at their articles. —C.Fred (talk) 20:05, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
- I haven't seen this on any other page so I was planning on posing the question. Information about individual members of a group is relevant to the group in my opinion as long as it's short and pertains to the group. Especially for those who don't meet notability requirements for their own page, I feel the average user would want to know at least basic information about the members individually, and that is missing. Information about them joining the group belongs in the history section but simple things like DoB, contributions to the group, and notable information about their role in the group belongs in the members' section. Does anyone else have thoughts on this topic? I'd be happy to write a markup or something for approval. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 21:22, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- There was a discussion on this here. Alexanderlee (talk) 21:35, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Alexanderlee And there was no consensus.
- I wrote a WP:SUMMARY of how the leads on each members' page would look, including info such as their real names per MOS:BIRTHNAME: "While the article [in this case, section] title should generally be the name by which the subject is most commonly known, the subject's full name, if known, should be given in the lead sentence", dates of birth per MOS:BLPLEAD: "The opening paragraph should usually have dates of birth... Those specific dates are important information about the person being described..." (not WP:FANCRUFT as a contributor suggests in the linked discussion above), and their roles (i.e. vocalist, rapper) per MOS:BLPLEAD: "The lead sentence should describe the person as he or she is commonly described in reliable sources. The notable position(s) or role(s) the person held should usually be stated in the opening paragraph. However, avoid overloading the lead paragraph with various sundry roles..." I only referred to them as the sources have (without "main", "lead" or "sub-"). I added the parts about their auditions to show the beginning of each of their relationships with BTS.
- In my opinion it's appropriate enough to include short introductions about the people who actually make the music since the article is about the band in whole. Ermahgerd9 (talk) 20:12, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- I never mentioned consensus, only that there was a discussion :) Alexanderlee (talk) 22:09, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- I'll re-add my edit then with this as the explanation. Ermahgerd9 (talk) 22:18, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
- I just looked at the edit history and you actually cited it as reason for undoing my first edit. All good though. Ermahgerd9 (talk) 02:58, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Abdotorg: Everything in my edit was done in accordance to the Wikipedia:Manual of Style as illustrated above. I concede with replacing the sections to bullet points and to shortening the names and dates of birth part. I disagree with replacing the WP:Prose to a list, as "it is preferred in articles as prose allows the presentation of detail and clarification of context, in a way that a simple list may not. Prose flows, like one person speaking to another. It is best suited to articles, because their purpose is to explain." I also disagree with the removal of songwriter in some of the members' bio since its one of the things that BTS is lauded for in the cited sources. As to their education and casting, it gives context (per MOS:BEGIN: "It should establish the context in which the topic is being considered by supplying the set of circumstances or facts that surround it.") to how and why they were chosen to be part of the group; it gives information on what and who make up BTS. On the members who already have articles of their own, according to Wikipedia:Summary style, "Each subtopic or child article is a complete encyclopedic article in its own right and contains its own lead section that is quite similar to the summary in its parent article. It also contains a link back to the parent article and enough information about the broader parent subject to place the subject in context for the reader, even if this produces some duplication between the parent and child articles." (see also: WP:DETAIL, WP:SYNC) In short: keep the current version with bullet points and tight names and dates of birth but prose-ify the roles and re-add the history of their relationship with BTS. If everyone is content with the current state of the members section however, the only thing I'll re-add are their backgrounds into the pre-debut section where I originally took it from.
- @C.Fred: @Nyantatata: Requesting for comment on the current state of the members section and the proposed revision. Is there anything you would change/add/remove? Do you think it's already good as is? Ermahgerd9 (talk) 02:58, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Ermahgerd9: What you have done so looks pretty good, in my opinion. They only section I'm iffy about is including "dancer" since I feel like it'll cause confusion. I know based on my own knowledge they're the "lead" dancers and assist with choreography but I feel like it could mislead people since it doesn't provide the context needed... which brings me to my next point. I understand the discussion linked is against having short, contextually aware summaries on members, but I fall back onto WP:WHATPLACE. Ermahgerd9 already provided a really good explanation, but I'd like to throw in WP:WHATPLACE because simply saying "x member = dancer" is inferior to saying "X member was selected to the group through their dancing skills and frequently assists in choreographing performances." (This could be written better, I'm just providing a sample.) This isn't WP:FANCRUFT because it directly enhances and provides context to the topic, which is a musical act.
- It may be worthwhile to reach an actual consensus since the one liked didn't and keeps the topic in a grey area. Curious about your thoughts as well @Alexanderlee:. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 23:52, 5 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Nyantatata: I agree with you, it’s a very gray area. Personally I feel as though if the sections are only their names as “implemented” not too long ago then they’re a pointless section as that information is in the initial information box at the top of the article, but as an admin pointed out over at the other discussion if the information is reliable sources then there’s no reason why it can’t be included. I disagree with information such as their blood type or promotional things like what month/fruit they represent, or what their favourite colours are, but a little background information can be useful to readers, such as knowing that J-Hope was in a dance crew and that prior to BTS jin had no experience in dance or singing; after all the article is about the group and the members are essentially the most important aspect of the group. However, if all members have their own article, such as all Exo members do, then I don’t think a members section is necessary as you can just go to their own individual article. Spice Girls members all have their own article therefore a member section there isn’t necessary. Alexanderlee (talk) 03:13, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- As I've repeatedly stated, everything that I've written is in accordance to the MOS, concise, cited and not "of importance only to a small population of enthusiastic fans of the subject in question" since their names, dobs and background are important to give context on the people who make up the band, especially to those who don't have existing articles. To those who have, I still think that we should implement Wikipedia:Summary style ("Each subtopic or child article is a complete encyclopedic article in its own right and contains its own lead section that is quite similar to the summary in its parent article. It also contains a link back to the parent article and enough information about the broader parent subject to place the subject in context for the reader, even if this produces some duplication between the parent and child articles"; see also WP:DETAIL, WP:SYNC) at least if/until all of them have articles of their own to standardize everyone's entry. Ermahgerd9 (talk)

- @Ermahgerd9: I did cite that as a reason, however not as “consensus”, it was more meaning that a consensus hasn’t been reached on what was to happen so it should be taken there. I should have made that clearer within my summary, my apologies. Alexanderlee (talk) 03:13, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Alexanderlee: Apologies for the late reply. No worries. My point is that the fact that it didn't have a consensus means that it doesn't and shouldn't affect how editing should be as it reverts to the default state of relying on what the MOS says. Per WP:NOCONSENSUS: "In discussions of proposals to add, modify or remove material in articles, a lack of consensus commonly results in retaining the version of the article as it was prior to the proposal or bold edit." In this case, reverting to how the article can be edited prior to the proposal of cutting down the members section. All my edits are valid as I'm not going against any consensus in editing a Wikipedia article about a band. @Alexanderlee @Nyantatata If you guys have anymore you think should be added or removed please say so. - @Nyantatata: Apologies for the late reply and thanks.
- I only included dancers to the members whom the sources referred to as such.
- The most recent edit I made, merged from the pre-debut section and my first reverted edit, had: "He used to be part of a street dance team named Neuron and was active in the underground dancing scene before joining BTS." If you could add an RS that explicitly says "so and so assisted in the choreography/songwriting", etc., please do, but I personally had a hard time finding those even though it's what the articles I've read praise them for the most.
- I don't think I'm "qualified" enough to RfC this as I'm relatively fresh to K-Pop culture. I actually edited the members section before being aware of the request here, after previously visiting out of curiosity due to all the buzz surrounding BTS and subsequently copy-editing the article, and noticed that the section wasn't informative. When I eventually expanded it, I did my best to include what an outsider would be interested in knowing from my personal experience. Ermahgerd9 (talk) 11:54, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Nyantatata: Apologies for the late reply and thanks.
- @Ermahgerd9: Sorry for my own very late response. I'll definitely look for a reliable source mentioning this.
- I think it's probably a good idea to RfC this and I'll happily do it. The conversation about members sections really should get a conclusion considering it's been going on for months now, and a four month old discussion attempting to finalize it ended without a consensus. I think it'd be good information to have in the process of improving this page. Thanks for your help. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 02:20, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
- @Nyantatata: Thanks for your help as well (and Alexanderlee's) :) I'm wary that this may hit another dead end though but hopefully there's a clear outcome this time. Cheers. Ermahgerd9 (talk) 01:39, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
Recent name change
I'm not sure if this has been fixed because I can't see it, but BTS no longer means 'Bulletproof Boy Scouts' when said in English. As of twelve hours ago their English name is 'Beyond the Scene' BeyondTheBTS (talk) 16:03, 5 July 2017 (UTC)
It means both tho? BangtanSonyeondanBTS (talk) 05:29, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
This is untrue BTS is Bangtan Sonyeondan (ROM) which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts, this is still their name however in 2017 they officially released what the acronym is as they never previously had one, this is Beyond The Scenes — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.168.13.194 (talk) 12:43, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- It's not entirely untrue - BTS comes from (B)ang(T)an (S)onyeondan. The BTS is, and always has been, in there - Beyond the Scene is a re-branding. It still means both. Alexanderlee (talk) 13:33, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

Bts band member Jimin's postion was wrong causing many arguments in the sns. If you search even wiki Korea his position is "Main Dancer!" Kindly clarify the debut date of BTS. I understand they had their first showcase on June 12th, but their official debut date is June 13th as claimed as well by BTS and BigHit themselves. How about we state it more clearly and differentiate the two?
From "They debuted on June 12, 2013 with the song "No More Dream" from their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool."
to "They had their first showcase on June 12, 2013 with the song "No More Dream" from their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool, and officially debuted the day after, June 13, 2013."
Something like this. I hope you can consider this one as many new ARMYs would be under the impression that their debut date is June 12th. We just need to clearly specify the two. Ceecrsstm (talk) 16:03, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

Reassessment
Am I the only one who feels like it'd be worthwhile to reassess the importance and quality of this article? The level of BTS on the importance scale is "low" right now, but they are currently the second most viewed WikiProject Korea article, above Kim Jong-un and North Korea. Their relevance in popular culture has changed a lot since their initial assessment of importance and it hasn't been updated since. EXO, another popular Kpop group who gets less activity on their page is Mid.
Adding onto that, I don't think this page is C-Class quality anymore. There's a fair amount of pictures, a rather strong lead, and a decent length and history section. I'm thinking of submitting it for peer review.
Nyantatata (talk) 16:51, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- I changed it to mid since "low" was set back in early 2015 and it wasnt updated since. For a "Good article" status it would probably also need awards and nomination section in prose, or legacy section, like on SNSD article. And "Philanthropy" section removed, its just a list of every donation they made, not explained why it is so important. Snowflake91 (talk) 17:16, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you! It does need some changes for GA but I think it's at least B-Class. Nyantatata (talk)
- Has there been any update on whether the article's status will be upgraded to B-Class, or if any progress has been made on it at least being considered for B-Class? If no, I'm willing to help make any improvements I can that would help the page get there but someone needs to point me in the right direction. Carlobunnie (talk) 15:01, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

The original lineup being the first member RM (Rapmonster), then Iron, Kyum2, Kidoh, Supreme Boi, I11evn and Marvel. Most left the group to pursue other kpop bands. Supreme stayed as an producer for BTS. RM being the only original member present in the group.
I think this is vital information that needs to be shared. ShivamLH (talk) 08:36, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

- Agreed, it's super long and needs to be condensed down. Evaders99 (talk) 03:18, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
- Agree here, the lead is way too long and isn't really much of a summary. A lot of it could probably be moved to the body. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 12:50, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
List of awards and nominations
I re-arranged the list alphabetically, as I see on other featured list like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio. I don't understand why the awards are listed based on what the fans deem as more important. Shaiyee (talk) 14:40, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Shaiyee: They were arranged by chronology of award one before. Both work totally fine, and as far as I know there's no policy on this, but chronology tends to be more common in K-pop articles, see EXO, Girls' Generation, Big Bang, etc. I actually do prefer alphabetizing it though because as you can see on all three pages the chronological version gets messed up very fast and the order becomes random. I feel like this should be included? Like it's their own variety web series? Isn't that a pretty significant thing to put on their page? [1] Reverie X (talk) 08:33, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Reverie X: It's mentioned under Filmography. If you feel that Run! BTS meets WP:N you could give it its own page or you could try and add it to the body of the article if you could find a reliable source that discusses its formation. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 13:01, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

Vandalism on List of awards and nominations
I don't know where to ask but can I request for protection on here as it has been a subject of vandalism mostly by IP users. Thank you ! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shaiyee (talk • contribs) 08:17, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Shaiyee: you can request protection here. If you have any queiries or concerns for the list of awards and nominations you should probably be voicing it on the talk page for that article rather than coming to the main article. Alexanderlee (talk) 09:09, 10 March 2018 (UTC)
- Of course there is not enough edit-warring or vandalism to warrant a semi-protection there, the page was vandalised only once in the last 8 days. Snowflake91 (talk) 10:43, 10 March 2018 (UTC)

But shouldn't there be pages for people who are significant enough even if they haven't done stuff outside of their group? – per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. BTS is one of the most popular bands on earth and one of the most viewed articles on Wikipedia, ranking #15 in March 2018 and averaging a half million views per month over the last two years, dwarfing all other entries on the disambiguation page combined. Zanhe (talk) 16:45, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support Doesn't seem like there's anything else called "BTS" with a claim to greater historical precedence or notability.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 20:06, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose barely registers in "BTS is" test in GBooks. A Korean boyband will get more page views but BTS can mean many things and a dab page is more helpful. And even in Asia the BTS metro in Bangkok seems more common. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:34, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- Gbooks is meaningless for a band that burst onto the world stage two years ago. Do a "BTS is" web test and the results are overwhelmingly about the band. BTS Skytrain gets 10,000 page views a month, and the band gets three times as many views in a single day! -Zanhe (talk) 03:45, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Search engine results are not evidence of long-term significance. To a search engine, it doesn't matter what we name the page, it will find it and deliver people to it. A high number of page views is in fact evidence that search engines do not care what we name the page, they are operating as intended. -- Netoholic @ 04:19, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- By your logic, why don't we just get rid of the concept of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC? Besides, almost 200,000 people visited the disambiguation page in the past year, most of whom likely intended to see the band page. -Zanhe (talk) 04:40, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Request has not demonstrated either long-term significance, extensive usage, or general knowledge value to make this primary. Very likely fleeting significance compared to all the other potential items on the current disambiguation page. -- Netoholic @ 02:09, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Did you even read the article, or at least the lead? BTS achieved the highest rank ever on the Billboard 200 for an Asian artist, is the first Korean performer to be certified Gold by the RIAA, is the most tweeted about celebrity in 2017 (more than Donald Trump and Justin Bieber combined), is the first Korean band to win the Billboard Music Award, ranks number 1 on Forbes Korea Power Celebrity, and is the first non-Western performer to rank number 1 on the Billboard Social 50. It's already achieved so many firsts that long-term significance is guaranteed even if it disbanded tomorrow. -Zanhe (talk) 04:04, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- I said its not enough "to make this primary". You're asking us to place the significance of a boy band above ALL other topics representable by the three-letter acronym "BTS", around the world and across the centuries, combined. I'm sorry, that's just not enough. Please see WP:RECENTISM and ask again in a few years. -- Netoholic @ 04:14, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- What other BTS is even remotely as well known? Most entries are obscure entities and even less commonly known by the acronym. And I've checked the traffic, most of them receive double-digit pageviews or less. -Zanhe (talk) 04:28, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Its not a comparison between the band and any single item. Its comparing it to ALL potential alternatives, in the long-term. Also, I don't mind a discussion, but you're really WP:BLUDGEONing right now. -- Netoholic @ 06:09, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Interesting. I presented additional evidence to address your concerns, but you respond by repeating your assertions without evidence, and accusing me of bludgeoning. -Zanhe (talk) 19:13, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose As with reasoning of above; the group is one of the biggest groups there’s no doubt, but I don’t see this to be enough to change current titles Alexanderlee (talk) 07:17, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support. Just because the group is insufferable is no reason to misname it. The band dominates the search results (See BTS -wikipedia). The only other subject that pops up is the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Nine Zulu queens (talk) 12:34, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose: BTS can still stand, by definition, for "Behind The Scenes". End of. Tibbydibby (talk) 02:02, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support. "BTS" referring to the band is more common than any other BTS besides the acronym behind the scenes, but the current BTS page (serving as a disambiguation page) just sends you to the separate "behind the scenes" disambiguation page anyway, and the page for "behind the scenes" is making-of. I initially put this as weak support because of how frequently used "BTS" referring to "behind the scenes" is used. But, considering the separation of "BTS" and "behind the scenes" on Wikipedia, having the (band) distinction just for "behind the scenes" seems excessive. Also, looking at Google Trends worldwide over the past five years, people searching for the band is significantly higher than other uses for "BTS" mentioned on this page since at least early-to-mid 2014, so I'm not sure this would fall under WP:RECENTISM. If we look at "BTS" as a search term (meaning Google Trends isn't filtering it for people who are looking for the band, it's just anyone who typed "BTS" into Google and then clicked on anything, no matter the topic) all the common related searches refer to the band. I'm not sure if a tool exists on Wikipedia that can tell you where users frequently click after viewing a page, however comparing the views for "BTS" and "BTS (band)" since as early as July 2015 (as early as this tool is letting me go), spikes in views for "BTS" largely mirror those for the band page, implying that those heading to "BTS" were looking for the musical group. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 03:38, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- The WP:PRIMARYTOPIC usage criteria is not "more common than any other" - its "more likely than all the other topics combined". -- Netoholic @ 04:45, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- The guideline suggests we use page views and Google rankings as metrics. By either of those standards, the band is not only primary topic, but blows everything else away. Their nearest competitor in terms of pageviews is their own discography. Nine Zulu queens (talk) 05:19, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- Didn't I already mention pageviews for the band dwarf all other topics combined, at the very beginning? As Nine Zulu queens' chart has shown, the traffic ratio is about 100:1, and yes, combined. -Zanhe (talk) 05:48, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if you looked at the links or not, so I apologize if you did. However, looking at the first Google trends link, combined those other search terms are so insignificant they're practically the same line. If we look at this trends graph in which "BTS" referring to the band and "BTS" referring to anything at all is searched for, the lines are almost exactly the same, to the point where they sometimes overlap. (Here's a graph with the other search topics as well.) This definitely suggests that almost everyone who searched "BTS" was looking for the band, especially since this is, again, worldwide stats over a significant amount of time, five years. I'd say that's enough evidence to suggest that the band is more common than all other topics combined. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 15:36, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- Support. Understandable that BTS might also refer to "Behind The Scenes", but even disambiguation page of "BTS" does not include such terminology. Plus, the popularity of the band as mentioned above is definitely a solid evidence that proves that this move is indeed reasonable. –Wefk423 (talk) 18:47, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose BTS is very popular at this current time, but that does not mean they always will be. Ten years from now will they still have the same popularity? Changing 'BTS (band)' to 'BTS' isn't a current thing but a long time thing. Maybe five years from now if BTS still has their popularity we can open this conversation again, but it's way too soon for that too. I love BTS and I'm a fan too, but saying BTS will be popular decades from now is a bit of a stretch. Not even pop stars in America, the biggest music market in the world, can keep their popularity. For celebrity's all of them eventually hit their peak. Unless they're the next Michael Jackson or The Beetles or something like that I don't think this move is warranted. Perhaps if 2018 makes them a household name we can change it, but I wouldn't see any other reason to. I've seen no proof that 'BTS (band)' will still be more popular than any other BTS ten years from now. Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 13:20, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose As much as I wish for it to be changed, I sadly have to reject this idea as the name BTS itself is an extremely common abbreviation which can stand for a lot of other things. Though the group is popular right now, it's hard to judge their popularity in the next few years. In addition, due to its simplicity, there would be new terms abbreviated as BTS in the near future, which then needs to be renamed again. Requiem II (talk) 13:59, 16 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. No clear primary topic here. The band may be big in Asia, but they don't especially register in English-language sources. On Korean Wikipedia maybe they are the primary topic; on English Wikipedia they are not. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:34, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

The position of the members should be changed and made more specific. The positions and roles of BTS members are stated very vaguely and are not specific. Specific positions/roles of the members are as follows: Jin: Vocalist, Visual [1] Suga: Lead Rapper [2] J-Hope: Main Dancer, Lead Rapper, Sub-Vocalist [3] RM: Leader, Main Rapper [4] Jimin: Main Dancer, Lead Vocalist [5] V: Vocalist, Visual [6] Jungkook: Main Vocalist, Lead Dancer, Sub-Rapper, Center, Maknae [7] Amazm (talk) 02:34, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

- No, things like "visual", "maknae", "center" etc. are fancruft "positions", we include only vocal positions. Snowflake91 (talk) 09:04, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
This is not true. Center and visual are actual positions in a group determined by a groups agency. I agree that maknae is fancruft position, however, center and visual are official positions. Nevertheless, the positions should be changed to at least include main rapper, lead rapper, main vocalist, lead vocalist, main dancer, lead dancer positions.Amazm (talk) 07:58, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Amazm: I don't think that BTS has a center anymore as it really depends on which song they are performing. BigHit tends to change their positions for different song performances so that to provide equal chances to all. Plus, are the "visuals" really confirmed by the agency? As I see from the source included, the article is more like a fan-oriented article (to attract more ARMYs), rather than providing solid and official information about their roles. It would be great if there are some official sources you could include to support the article linked above. However, as mentioned by User talk:Snowflake91, we usually just include vocal positions in such articles. Cheers. –Wefk423 (talk) 10:34, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Amazm: I understand your point, however Wikipedia is intended for a summary of information that is understandable for everyone, even people who don't know anything related to the topic. The difference between "main" and "lead" is something unique to K-Pop, is unclear even to those who actively follow it. Likewise, the role of "visual" doesn't mean anything if you're unfamiliar with K-Pop positions. A casual reader would not need to know this information; who raps and sings is enough. Who is(n't) a "visual", whether or BTS has a center, and especially who's "main" or "lead" is heavily debated and has never been officially stated. When "main" and "lead" was in the article prior to it's removal the positions kept getting switched around by editors. It's best not to have them. Nyantatata ^-^ (Say hi!) 21:48, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
Line about letter from Moon Jae-in
"After their debut at #1 on the Billboard 200, South Korean president Moon Jae-in wrote BTS a letter recognizing and encouraging their current and future success."
Idk if it's just me, but that single line looks really out of place in the article. Obvious formatting/grammatical issues aside, I feel like it should either be moved to the LY:Tear article, or merged into the paragraph above it, after the sentence is reworded ofc. I'm not touching it for the time being but just wanted to mention it to see what anyone else thought.- Carlobunnie (talk) 21:35, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- @Carlobunnie: It is really out of place. That section is speaking more about the chart achievements and it feels like it should be put elsewhere. Speaking of, I've been wanting to create a legacy section on this page and expanding the awards and nominations section into an achievements section, basing off of k-pop GAs like Girls' Generation and mostly Big Bang. That sentence would be more suited one of these sections, though I think it'd work better as an achievement. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 22:20, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
- @DanielleTH: I don't see why not. If they keep up with their current rate of achievements the section is gonna get really big and chunky eventually. Once you work up something in your sandbox let us know so everyone can take a look (and hopefully make suggestions) so we can get the best end result to add to/improve the article. We do have some pretty good editors watching the page so hopefully more people will weigh in. - Carlobunnie (talk) 22:31, 1 June 2018 (UTC)
Infobox images changes
I was iffy on this change so I figured I'd get thoughts from other editors before moving forward. LG recently released this photo of BTS under CC and I figured it was fairly nice in terms of quality to use as the main image for the article, but upon testing it I'm unsure. In comparison to how the page looks now, which image do you think is better? Do you think the photo being an advertisement raises issues? (Though it's worth noting that the the iKon page has a similar photo in use.)
Here's how the linked image would look in the infobox and on the entire page. I'd appreciate any thoughts. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 04:49, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

BTS debuted on June 13 not June 12. QueenOfWeirdness (talk) 14:29, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Multiple cited sources in the article state the 12th. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 14:37, 28 June 2018 (UTC)
This is actually kind of interesting. It appears that the confusion about the date of their debut may be related to time zone. The date in Korea was June 13, 2013 when the album was released, but June 12, 2013 in western time zones. Their official fan club lists their debut date as June 13, 2013 (http://cafe.daum.net/BANGTAN, I think you have to be a member to see it and it's written in Korean), BTS themselves celebrate their "Festa" debut date as June 13, 2013 (https://www.soompi.com/article/1181375wpp/bts-updates-family-album-new-photos-2018-bts-festa), and their official YouTube channel lists their debut date as June 13th (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPJX6QK6etg), so I would be inclined to make the argument that June 12th may be a western imposition, unless we're going with UTC? Fleep (talk) 21:56, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
Aaaand, now that I've gone down this rabbit hole, I think it comes down to the definition of "debut" and the fact that articles published on western websites reflect dates based on time stamps in western time zones rather than Korean time zones. Many sources don't have a time stamp at all, only a date stamp, which makes it harder to distinguish.
If debut means the date their first music video was released, I see "No More Dream" listed on YouTube with the date June 11, 2013, but I can't find a time stamp to show what time zone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBG5L7UsUxA). Their album "2 Cool 4 Skool" is listed on iTunes with a post date of June 12, 2013, but again with no time stamp (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/2-cool-4-skool/1274569086). Does debut mean the first date they had a public performance? I see the June 12, 2013 date citation from the main article at https://web.archive.org/web/20150205172617/http://mwave.interest.me/enewsworld/en/article/38336/bts-releases-debut-video. The most reliable source that I could find related to their first public performance at Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul are images taken on June 15, 2013 by Getty (https://www.gettyimages.com/event/debut-showcase-170925682#perform-onstage-during-their-showcase-at-ilchi-art-hall-on-june-15-picture-id170774178).
Confusion reigns!
At the end of the day, I would be inclined to edit the lead paragraph to reflect what specifically took place on June 12, 2013 rather than using the perhaps ambiguous term "debut". If a "debut" date is necessary, then given the confusion around uncertain time stamps, time zones, and Korean to English translations - and out of an abundance of caution to not westernize/whitewash a Korean band's history - I would privilege the date used by the band, their label company, and their official fan club, which is, definitively, June 13, 2013. Fleep (talk) 22:51, 14 August 2018 (UTC)
The suggested edit is to change the second sentence in the lead paragraph, originally:
They debuted on June 12, 2013 with the song "No More Dream" from their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool.
Suggested edit is:
On June 12, 2013, they performed the song "No More Dream" from their first album 2 Cool 4 Skool [1] and commemorate their debut on June 13, 2013 with an annual "Festa" celebration [2]. Fleep (talk) 03:28, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

Done Hearing no objection, I'll go ahead and make this change. Feel free to revert if you find more relevant references to the contrary. Fleep (talk) 22:55, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
I see an edit was made to revert to the original text due to the reliability of the source for the "Festa" quote. Thanks for pointing out the issue with the reliability of Metro as a source. I found a better source from Billboard quoting the July 13th debut date and explanation of Festa and will use that instead. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/k-town/8460187/bts-ddaeng-diss-track-rm-suga-j-hope
I'm not sure if the editor was only objecting to the source, or to the changed language about the debut date. I think the point of the OP's request was to reflect the correct "debut" date, which this last edit un-did, so I hope it's ok to add that language back with a more reliable source. If not, then this request should probably be changed to a "not done" status instead. Fleep (talk) 15:00, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
After discussion with the previous editor, will use the new source and eliminate the mention of "Festa" in the lead. It can be added in a different section if anyone wants to take that on. Fleep (talk) 18:19, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

"Band" is a term which refers more specifically to people who play musical instruments,"Group" is a word which usually refers to anything such as a gathering of performers in music. BTS is a group, the term "band " is not correct for they. "Music group" or simply "group" is better to define them. Etedzu (talk) 09:54, 4 Sept 2018 (UTC)

BTS is just with Universal Music. They have never signed with Columbia Records. The label never confirmed it, was just a rumor. The label has never published anything about them, check the Columbia Records website and see that they do not appear on your artist list. Canadian sales
There seems to be a problem with the 10,000 Canadian album sales for Love Yourself: Answer quoted on the page. I cannot find a link proving this figure. I've been trying to trace it so I can add it to other pages but cannot find it. If anyone has the link, or could point me to where the source for that on this page would be, it would be very helpful.Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 15:46, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

In addition to "2017 to present: International Recognition" section, please add:
On October 6th, 2018, BTS performed at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, making them the first and only Korean artist to perform at a US stadium[1]. Citi Field tweeted an hour after tickets went on sale that "due to overwhelming demand, tickets are no longer available"[2]. It is speculated that over 40,000 tickets were sold out in just 15-20 min. The stadium released a few thousand extra tickets a few days before the concert due to increasing demand. The show was the last segment of the band's Love Yourself World Tour in North America before they headed off to Europe. Aisharafique96 (talk) 23:50, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

Park Jimin
Is anybody in the process of making Jimin his own Wikipedia page? I’ve noticed Jin and Jungkook have finally got their own separate Wikipedia pages, and was wondering if Jimin would eventually get his own too. He also has solo contributions to add so a page of his own wouldn’t be too sparse. I hope to see one soon as I’ve begun to develop and draft my own anyway in the hopes of it becoming official, but I’m not sure how to expand it as I’m new to editing and referencing and such on here.
Thank you. Farhanabae (talk) 22:11, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- I've looked at making one but I don't think he does enough stuff outside of BTS to warrant one. Jimin really only has some hosting gigs. The solo songs were through bts so that wouldn't warrant one. He's working on a song now and if he releases it officially and it does well we could probably get him a page, but for now I can't really see him getting one. He has to do things outside of BTS and he doesn't really do that.Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 23:45, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Frahanbae: I've found your draft! I've also been looking into making one but he's done the least amount of solo stuff outside BTS (the solo songs were under his name) so it's a bit more difficult to do. It's still worth writing up a draft though. The draft you made is just the infobox (not sure if you plan to add more) but I'd be happy to help out with it when I get the chance! DanielleTH (Say hi!) 22:11, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
I have a draft submitted for Jimin. Independent Jimin pages are already available in Spanish, العربية, Català, Euskara, Français, Bahasa Indonesia, 한국어, Português,, Русский, 中文 so an English page should be warranted, no? Chanelle821 (talk) 10:53, 18 October 2018 (UTC)
