Fair use rationale for Image:Iwaly2.jpg
Image:Iwaly2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Note
Please DO NOT make such biased statements or fanboyism about the actress. Wikipedia enforces a neutral point of view, and it's crapshoot if you say things like that here. And sign your posts using four tildes, like ~~~~. This is not a forum about about the actress; any such messages will be shot on sight... Blake Gripling 00:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Major Clean-up
I've just noticed that this article needs major editing. It not only needs more sources for citations, but even simple grammar and usage rules aren't adhered to properly. Sang'gre Habagat (talk) 08:22, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

- If it is an "official" website, why is it created by "fans"? Starczamora (talk) 03:17, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Angel's one and only official website is www.angellocsin.com.ph which is runned by her sister ella colmenares and administrators officially sanctioned by angel locsin herself. The multiply site which claim to be her official website is unrecognized and is just a fan site. Hope this is clear to avoid confusion. The link regarding her official website should be edited. - http://AngelLocsinWebsite.Multiply.com is the Official Website of Angel Locsin at Multiply and It is more known than the official one. It was been first website of Angel Locsin that has been established by fans, then later on the official website was been established also. It doesnt need to be managed by the star or by the relative of the star or officially informed to the star herself about the website. It talks about its flesh on news, on photos and everything. Im Pretty sure that the multiply website of angel locsin is more visited by the fans than the other. It is more considered as official. First, the two are just both websites of one star and the important is to considered a website whom better. But I pretty sure than the multiply website is more dinstictive than the other one. - The word "official" would mean having official authority or sanction; "official permission"; authorized or issued authoritatively. Which of which is the website that is approved/permitted by Angel Locsin? How do we know who says the truth? ax (talk) 05:42, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- Agreed. Official as in Angel herself approves and is either administrating or supervising the site. The Multiply site is apparently Greald's attempt to sneak in and mess up the article. Blake Gripling (talk) 05:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Unsourced material with WP:UNDUE problems, kept here under WP:Preserve
With the expansion of the Advocacies and issues section, this unsourced paragraph now presents a slight WP:Undue issue because it references events and affiliations that are relatively minor compared to the rest of the article. But perhaps they can be reintegrated at a later time. Keeping the content here as per WP:PRESERVE.
- On April 23, 2007, Locsin celebrated her birthday with GABRIELA Foundation, an NGO that supports women and children. On April 20, 2008, Locsin organized a gift-giving to the less fortunate children in Payatas, Quezon City and gave poor children food, clothing and other basic needs. It was her birthday gift supported by her sponsors.[citation needed]

Name Verification
As the naming convention for legal names in the Philippines are you Given/First Name(s), followed by your Mother's Maiden Name as your middle name, and then your father's Last/Surname. If illegitimate, one would not carry a middle name and thus would only have a first and last name.
In this case, she does carry her father's last name so Locsin is claimed to be her middle name; so for her legal name to be Angelica Locsin Colmenares, her mother's maiden name would have to have been Emma Locsin. Her mother is only ever listed as Emma Colmenares without even the middle initial and a search of Emma Locsin Colmenares or Emma Colmenares (nee Locsin) do not show any result.
While Angel Locsin may in fact be a Locsin, this may not be part of her legal name and an amendment should be made to remove it unless a reference/source can be provided. Amerath (talk) 04:52, 14 June 2021 (UTC)

- Substantial bio with many aspects, on a load of sources, - looks like you are on your way to GA? No copyvio obvious. The spectacular portrait is licensed. I am not happy with the hook, because, yes she looks like an actress, but we ignorant watchers should be told so for more surprise, instead of having philantropy twice. I also believe that the full titles of the awards are too long to be quoted in full. I suggest you mention one of them fully, or say summarily that both awarded her for humanitarian work. With the won characters you might say a little bit of what she normally does ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:41, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments Gerda Arendt, I've reworked the hook and came up with this revision. Would appreciate your comments if it needs polishing, etc.
Alt1 ... that Filipina actress and philanthropist Angel Locsin (pictured) was recognized by Forbes and Tatler for her work in various causes, such as disaster relief, education, and humanitarian aid for internally displaced persons in the Mindanao siege?--Pseud 14 (talk) 14:05, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- I like that much better! I'd drop education, as rather pale in comparison. What's "internally"? I'd also not pipe the persons to the siege. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:20, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt, thanks for your comments, I have dropped education, and unlinked the rest as they are rather self-explanatory-ish. As for internally displaced persons, it is a synonymous term for "refugees", but to be technically correct, refugees are those forced to leave their home and have settled in another country (crossing borders), while internally displaced persons are still considered "refugees" but those forced to leave their home but remain within their country's borders. Hope that helps clarify ;) --Pseud 14 (talk) 14:41, 27 May 2022 (UTC)

- Alt2a ... that Filipina actress Angel Locsin (pictured) was recognized by Forbes and Tatler for her philanthropic and humanitarian work? Pseud 14 (talk) 15:43, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Z1720 and Gerda Arendt: Made it shorter and concise. Let me know if the hook reads better. Thanks! --Pseud 14 (talk) 15:43, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
- I think it's the humanitarian work that matters, not the recognition. With that in mind: theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (she/they) 18:27, 18 June 2022 (UTC)

General idea for featured articles
With the fact that this article, and every single other article to have been and to be, could become a featured article. Since Wikipedia will grow exponentially overtime, I believe that any article to become a featured article should automatically become semi-protected for maybe that day or that week. This would stop unregistered accounts from vandalizing the article that everyone who visits Wikipedia will see for that day. Roasted (talk) 08:12, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
On the question of sources about red-tagging
Locsin's stance against the endangerment of lives through Red-tagging in the Philippines is well documented in mainstream media, so I believe the removal of that section was premature. The wide coverage shows Locsin as a public figure making a clear stance in the defense of public safety. If the sources in the previous text are perceived to be weak, that has now been addressed using widely referenced news sources which have a track record for reliability: VeraFiles, Rappler, ABS CBN News, CNN Philippines, GMA News and Public Affairs, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer. I would argue that UCN News has a proven track record too, but this is already a preponderance of WP:RS. - Chieharumachi (talk) 05:02, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
