The untitled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever sequel is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Shuri / Black Panther, produced by Marvel Studios, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is intended to be the sequel to Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), and part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is being written by Ryan Coogler.
Coogler and Marvel Studios had discussed making a third Black Panther film by Wakanda Forever's release in November 2022, and Coogler was writing the sequel two years later.

[edit]Development
[edit]Following the release of the film Black Panther (2018), its star Chadwick Boseman was in negotiations to return as his character T'Challa / Black Panther in two planned sequels for a reported pay of $10 million and $20 million, respectively.[1] Boseman died in August 2020, and the first sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), instead focused on his co-star Letitia Wright as T'Challa's sister Shuri, who becomes the new Black Panther. By November 2022, the films' director and co-writer Ryan Coogler had discussed a potential third Black Panther film with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.[2] The subtitle "Wakanda Forever" was originally intended to be used for the third film before it was used for the second film.[3] In January 2023, Wright said a third film was being considered but the cast and Coogler needed "a little bit of a break... to regroup" before starting work on it.[4] In November 2024, Denzel Washington revealed that Coogler was writing a role for him in the third film.[5]
