More clones
[edit]Why not mention the PSP version "Lamecraft" and the PC versions "Manic Digger", "Cube World", "7 Days to Die" and Unturned? 93.211.19.73 (talk) 16:20, 14 February 2013 (UTC)
TERRARIA ISN'T A MINECRAFT CLONE YOU TWAT NOR A RIP-OFF Haocbsscalx (talk) 04:39, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Is this article necessary?
[edit]Why does this exist? Who cares if video games are Minecraft clones? How come we have no Category called Skyrim clones or Call of Duty clones? Do you realize not all games that feature crafting, building, and blocky worlds are technically a genre and not called rip offs? Just because a game has a blocky world, and a building and crafting system doesn't mean it's a Minecraft copy/clone. Is there even a Category for Forge of Empire clones? NO. It's not necessary, and there are many medical games that have the same system and objective of Force of Empires: make a powerful civilization. See what I mean? Sorry, I misspelled Forge of Empires. Prodigy55 (talk) 15:26, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is based on what reliable sources cover. It doesn't matter if it features crafting, building, blocky world or whatever. Reliable sources have called many games "Minecraft clones", hence we have a category. Doesn't matter what the games are actually clones or if anyone cares if they are. If reliable sources described many games as "Forge of Empire clones" then, yes, we would likely have that category too. — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 18:42, 22 August 2017 (UTC)
- Alright. It's just that not all games are really Minecraft clones. Prodigy55 (talk) 23:59, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- I agree. Terraria was released before this game, and they call it a CLONE? This article is completely opinion based, it is like an article that says, "People that should have been President", or "People that might become President", and we have "sources" like this: https://michaelmoore.com/trumpwillwin/ So why is there no article? Because it is opinion based. Opinion is our topic here. Tetris is an old game, and part of Minecraft? Telltale never associated Minecraft with 7 Days To Die, and they are both mentioned? Well, maybe a few exceptions: Stardew Valley and Terraria, Digimon and Pokemon, but of course, which came first, and when so, is there a category that mentions clones? There is even a source that mentions the opposite of this page: https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/09/10-minecraft-clones-that-arent-actually-minecraft.html We should be making facts, not opinions. We didn't have a "Donald Trump must be President" in the Donald Trump article. We should be putting something like: "According to studies, it is possible that Donald Trump may be President." There should be "sandbox games related to Minecraft and others" and not "Minecraft clones" when they are opinions on whether they are clones. In fact, there should be a related section to video game templates. Some automobiles have related sections, but not all of its individuals are clones. 2600:8800:1D00:23E0:5971:195C:9700:7B3A (talk) 03:09, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
- Doesn't matter if they are or are not clones. Reliable sources have called the games listed in this category (except those others added since without relying on sources) as "Minecraft clones". It does not matter what I, you or anyone else thinks (and not including these games is just as much an opinion as including them). Wikipedia follows reliable sources for this particular naming. — HELLKNOWZ ▎TALK 10:46, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
