Functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) are characterized by chronic complaints arising from disorganized brain-gut interactions leading to dysmotility and hypersensitivity. ... Their etiopathogenic mechanisms remain unclear, however, recent observations reveal low-grade mucosal inflammation and immune activation, in association with impaired epithelial barrier function and aberrant neuronal sensitivity. These findings come to challenge the traditional view of FGIDs as pure functional disorders, and relate the origin to a tangible organic substrate. The mucosal inflammatory infiltrate is dominated by mast cells, eosinophils and intraepithelial lymphocytes in the intestine of FGIDs. It is well established that mast cell activation can generate epithelial and neuro-muscular dysfunction and promote visceral hypersensitivity and altered motility patterns in FGIDs, postoperative ileus, food allergy and inflammatory bowel disease.

@Rowanwindwhistler, sent the first one. The others are master's and bachelor's theses, which means (1) the author and their single university likely hold the only extant copies, (2) they're volumes that universities generally deem unworthy for digitization. (Additionally, theses not at the Ph.D. level are generally not deemed reliable for use on Wikipedia. So I'd stick with the first one and we can help you pull citations from that as needed.) You could track down the authors, who might have chosen to digitize their own copies, but since they were written in the 50s, 60s, I'd doubt it. Feel free to remove the resolved tag if you think there's more we can do. czar 15:44, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Content in "The Vatican Holocaust"

[edit]

{{Resolved}}

Manhattan, Avro. The Vatican Holocaust. ISBN 9781500341558.

I am currently mediating a case at the DRN and I am unable to access this source which is being used to support an argument for the title of Aloysius Stepinac. I would like to ask for any related content to Aloysius Stepinac, in regards to his titling (or epithets) such as "His Eminence", "Blessed" and/or "Supreme Military Apostolic Vicar of the Ustashi Army" (may be spelled as "Ustasha Army"), or any other titles that are used in relation to Aloysius Stepinac.

Affected areas include: WP:DRN and Aloysius Stepinac

I am happy to be emailed if needed.

--Cheers, Drcrazy102 (talk) 05:48, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Drcrazy102, there doesn't seem to be any controversy that Stepinac was a Catholic cardinal who was later beatified, so could be properly referred to as "His Eminence" and "Blessed." I can provide you with some sources using those titles, if you really feel you need them. Newspapers.com has an 8/5/1947 article from Federated Press that states, "The Archbishop was proven guilty of having ordered the people to fight for the fascist puppet “Independent State of Croatia,” and to have subequently [sic] served in the sabor (parliment) [sic] of the quisling regime and also accepted the post of supreme apostolic vicar of its army." I can forward you a copy if you email me. John M Baker (talk) 23:01, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Drcrazy102, I've emailed the article, which was the only one I saw about Stepinac that used that title. It looks like the accusation that Stepinac served as the army's supreme apostolic vicar was part of the communist regime's charge against him, so it's probably not a reliable source for the claim that he actually served that role. John M Baker (talk) 15:40, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help. This should hopefully help resolve at least part of the dispute. Do you mind if I quote part of your above response when mentioning the sources? Cheers, Drcrazy102 (talk) 22:59, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine, as long as it's clear that the mere fact that we lack a reliable source for this does not mean that it is untrue. John M Baker (talk) 00:44, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, after all "absence of evidence ≠ evidence of absence". Thanks for the help and if you do find anything else, feel free to email me or send me a Wiki-ping. Cheers, Drcrazy102 (talk) 01:32, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Paulscrawl: I was able to track down a version of the Ella Brennan article on Google Books. Would that work? Also, I've added page numbers to the other three sources. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 20:53, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@MrLinkinPark333: Thanks, page numbers are helpful, indeed, as would be names of article authors (on last page of article). Could you add those, above?
Ella Brennan article (by Scott Simmons) appears to be pp. 243-245, is that correct? Alas, that page range not visible to me, but an excerpt (or is it a verbatim copy?) is on the Southern Foodways Alliance site referenced in the WP article. Is that a complete copy?
I would also be interested in the other articles, if there is any way to capture their content to a png or (preferably) PDF. Each of the other articles is either unviewable by me or missing a viewable page. Google is clever with its teasing tastes of delicious Google Books! Thanks again. Paulscrawl (talk) 16:28, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Paulscrawl: The reference I used for the page nuumbers is JSTOR, but it could be inaccurate. It says the article is found on p. 129-30. However, I found the Ella Brennan article here on a different page (perhaps it's a different version?). Comparing it with the Southern Foodways Alliance article, it's similar to the one I found on Google Books but some sentences are omitted while others are reworded. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 20:58, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@MrLinkinPark333: Perfect, I'll take your find of open access JSTOR contents page references at their word for article author names and article pages and thank you for adding those author names above - all recognized authorities.
If this book exists in digital form (outside Google Books' limited view) perhaps I could ask an academic librarian for access. WorldCat is not as helpful as desired - indicating digital edition exists, but not where held. Or am I missing something? -- Paulscrawl (talk) 00:46, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Scan of 4 articles requested

[edit]

At the welcomed email suggestion of @MrLinkinPark333:, I have removed the Resolved template. Thank you, MrLinkinPark333, for your continued efforts to get these articles referenced in Wikipedia.

An academic research librarian I contacted confirmed a digital publication is not available, other than an inadequate snippet view of random pages in Google Books.

I request a physical scan (I can OCR if scans are clean) of the Ella Brennan article and the 3 related articles listed above.

Thanks again! Ella's 90th birthday is November 27th and New Orleans media is popping with tributes to the city's reigning restaurateur - her stub article needs these reliable sources (at least as much as I need a bread pudding souffle right now ;) -- Paulscrawl (talk) 01:32, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I already sent the Ella brennan article and crossed it off the list for you. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:46, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Paulscrawl: I was able to find the book on Questia, but I currently don't have access to it. Perhaps another user does? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 19:07, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@MrLinkinPark333: Excellent! That would be great. I no longer have Questia access - if anyone here does, I request all 4 articles named above (including Ella Brennan). Page numbers are what I need for fact-specific citations, so if copying and pasting text output into a LibreOffice or Word document for PDF export (direct PDF export from Questia not an option), please indicate page breaks within articles, e.g., blah blah ((221/222))) blah blah. Thanks! -- Paulscrawl (talk) 20:05, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, @MrLinkinPark333:, for your dedication to resolving outstanding resource requests - not only mine, but others on this page. I appreciate your persistence. Women's Art Journal/Gale/Highbeam for Monir

[edit]

{{Resolved}} Hi, I was hoping someone with access to Women's Art Journal/Gale/Highbeam could reformat the ezproxy/school specific URL ref added at special:diff/687922295/687944470. I found a Highbeam link that may be the same article but don't see a DOI. cc @Rae8372: --Jeremyb (talk) 17:09, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Jeremyb:I have access to the highbeam article. But I see that the figures are omitted (all 6 of them). I could fix the reference to point to the highbeam article (for the time being). It would be better if someone did have access to the Women's Art Journal so we could compare and see which one is better to use. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 21:09, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
does it at least lost a DOI? --Jeremyb (talk) 21:20, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like maybe it's the article located here? I'm not familiar with Academia.edu; is there any reason not to use this link? John M Baker (talk) 21:30, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a DOI but here's the full citation: Stein, Donna1 (2012). "Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian". Woman's Art Journal. 33 (1): 3–9. ISSN 0270-7993. Retrieved 2015-10-28 – via Art Source.{{cite journal}}: CS1 maint: numeric names: authors list (link) The "figures" are some images, likely omitted from Highbeam due to image copyrights, and likely not vital to the gist of what you'll want from the article. Academia.edu is a site for scholars to post their work, usually pre-production copies, as the journals tend to own the copyright or at least publishing rights after the journal is published. (So the issue is usually that Academia.edu copies might not reflect final editing.) In this case, it looks like Stein uploaded the full, final article, so that's the place I'd link. czar 23:04, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Everything about this guy is Armenian Genocide. In what way Tomasz Kamusella is an Armenian-genocide denialist??? Alexis Ivanov (talk) 13:32, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
A source that denies the Armenian Genocide cannot be used as a source for content on the history of Armenia. Not that that particular source could ever be used for the Ararat article anyway, given its very general treatment of the subject matter (just a single unreferenced sentence in the whole book mentions Ararat mythology). It is not a source dedicated to the history of the Bible or study of Biblical text, it is not a source dedicated to Armenian mythology. There are plenty of real sources on those subjects that could be used. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 16:44, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Billboard Year-End charts for Latin music

[edit]

{{Resolved}} I would like to request the following Billboard year-end charts for the following years and Latin music genres:

  • Top Pop Latin Albums, Top Tropical/Salsa Albums, and Top Regional Mexican Latin Albums: 1988 - 1993 and 1995 (I already have the year-end charts for Top Pop Latin Albums in 1992) from December 21, 1991 page YE 42-43 (Year End Issue)
  • Top Billboard Latin 50 Albums, Hot Regional Mexican Tracks, Hot Latin Pop Tracks, Hot Tropical/Salsa Tracks - 1995

Articles: various

This is intended to help not only me, but several members of the Latin music project as well. Thanks in advance. --Erick (talk) 23:01, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Magiciandude: I'm sending you 1988-1991. Note: The Pop Latin Albums and the Regional Mexican Latin Albums are missing for the 1991 issue I've found. Does anyone have access to the December 21, 1991 issue and can send those two charts? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 02:56, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Magiciandude: Update: I've sent the rest. The only articles that are missing are the two from 1991. I've updated your request in case someone else can find it. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 03:50, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@MrLinkinPark333: Thank you again MrLinkinPark333. I forgot to add in the Hot Latin Songs (referred to back then as Top Latin Singles) charts as well for 1988-1993 and 1995 because only the top 10 songs on that chart is available for those years. Might I have access to those as well if it's not too much to ask? Erick (talk) 04:04, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Magiciandude: I think you mean Top Latin Tracks, since Hot Latin Songs was renamed from Hot Latin Tracks? --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 04:27, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@MrLinkinPark333: Yep, sorry and I didn't realize that most of the articles you sent me already have them. I'm only missing the '89 and '91 Top Latin Singles year-end charts. Erick (talk) 04:29, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Magiciandude: You should already have the 1991 one (that one was with the salsa chart). I'll send over the 89 Latin one. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 04:45, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, you are right. I just checked it and didn't realize it was already there. So only the Latin pop and Regional Mexican album year-end charts from 1991 are missing right? Erick (talk) 04:49, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Correct. I sent the 89 chart over. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 05:01, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@John M Baker: Yeah that should do it for the earliest Billboard Latin year-end charts. I have been putting the year-end charts on the appropriate articles that lack them. @MrLinkinPark333: Thank you both for taking your time to help me out. Erick (talk) 00:54, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What is the total estimated number of human beings killed by the Nazis in WW2

[edit]
Wrong venue. Please move to Wikipedia:Reference desk

--24.122.3.45 (talk) 07:55, 24 October 2015 (UTC) Hello , I am a 2nd generation Canadian of polish descent and my youngest daughter came home from school and asked me why there is little or no reference of the number of non-Jewish people killed by the Nazis. She wondered if 6 million Jews were killed, then the total people must be around 20 million , because she knows her great-grandfather , who was a Polish Major in the army, was killed in Auschwitz. Then she asked me how many Poles,Lithuanians,Latvians,Estonians,Ukrainians,Moldavian,Czech,Slovak,Hungarians,Romanians,Croatian,Macedonian,.....etc...etc....,well, you know how a child can be. I mean no disrespect but it made me realize that most of the historical mention is focused on the Jewish victims.I only met one Grandparent , one Uncle , in my life out of about 20 other Polish relatives who were brutally killed during the war.And what about other non- Jews...Don't they deserve some honorable mention? When i search online it is hard to find references of other ethnic persons that suffered the same fate. Can anybody provide a link or URL to quench my Daughters inquisitive requests...[reply]

                                                            Respectfully , C.V.B

24.122.3.45 (talk) 07:55, 24 October 2015

Wikipedia has all the numbers, when you visit the Holocaust page, there is a section the fourth one called Victims, which has 3 subsections each dealing with different victims: you got the Jews and then the non-Jews and then you got the other victims. This is the place where you need to go and look at it. If you go to the non-Jewish subsection it still divided between Slavs, Ethnic Poles, other West Slavs, Ethnic Ethnic Serbs and other South Slavs, East Slavs, Soviet POWs, Romani People and lastly Persons of Colors. Your daughter can read that non-Jewish sub-section id she wants to get an idea. Also you can yourself read, in a more detailed manner in the Holocaust victims page is another page dedicated to the victims and there is a small box on there that shows how many people from each group got killed that will show you and your daughter how many people died.
