.CEO

Administrator Psychonaut has deleted the page for the top level domain .CEO. They have stated that the page was "Promotional; no evidence of notability." without detailing what the specific issues were. All information on the page was factual. If necessary to add additional sources or citations to have the page undeleted, I will do so. Thank you for your attentiveness. -AmyBrownPB (talk) 15:27, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

Wrong; the page was deleted because it was tagged for proposed deletion and the tag was in place for at least a week. Note that promotional pages have an issue with tone, not sources. (It's possible to have a well-sourced article that is nevertheless promotional.) —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 15:41, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
The whole article was an advertisement, using promotional language, with unsubstantiated phrases like "registrants are invited", "designed to increase online influence", "leveraged Inbound and Social Media marketing techniques", and so on. And half the citations are to other Wikipedia articles. I would have deleted this as WP:CSD#G11, which would disqualify it from restoration by request on this page. I could in fact restore and delete it as G11 right now, but I'll refrain. It's an advertisement that should be rewritten from scratch. ~Amatulić (talk) 22:15, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

Hamersons Hotel Cebu

The page contains only information for the hotel and no intention of advertising button below -Dave.codilla (talk) 06:44, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Not done Dave.codilla, the content in the article was extremely promotional. Hotel articles on Wikipedia should not spend time talking about the hotel's amenities or use phrases like "you" or "our guests". Wikipedia is not a hotel booking site, so there's no need for content of this type in the article. This is considered to be very unambiguously promotional on here, even if it may not come across as promotional elsewhere. Also, the article didn't establish why the hotel was a notable business, as hotels are not automatically notable because they exist. You need to show where the hotel has received coverage in multiple independent and reliable sources per WP:RS. Using the hotel's website or articles like this that look to be reprinted press releases will not be considered sources that can establish notability. It's pretty difficult to establish this for hotels given that there are so many out there and hotel operations are considered fairly standard. When articles do exist it's usually because the hotel has a lot of historical importance or it's on a hotel chain that has received a lot of coverage as opposed to specific individual locations. Now and then. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SeanVNguyen (talkcontribs) 13:31, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Not done There wasn't any content in the article to restore really, just what you've written above and the phrase "All of man's need for existence." Neither are enough content for an article and neither version had sourcing to really explain what you were writing about and why it would require an entry on Wikipedia. I do see that there is an entry for this at Wiktionary and unless there is a lot of coverage for this term in reliable sources, there's really no true need for a Wikipedia entry. Draft:Smash Fighting League

I, 360mph, request the undeletion of this Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13. Please restore the page as I intend to work on it. 360mph (talk) 16:22, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Not done 360mph, normally we restore AfC articles without much fuss (unless they've been abandoned multiple times or violate some major guideline/rule) however the problem here is that ultimately it looks like this league is just a group of friends hanging out and playing Super Smash Bros. You don't really show where the Smash Fighting League has received any coverage in major gaming websites or in the newspapers Wikipedia would consider to be reliable sources. It's incredibly difficult for gaming groups or people to pass notability guidelines on Wikipedia and there are people who play professionally at major competitions and win, yet still fail overall notability guidelines on Wikipedia. I hate to sound harsh, but I really can't see where this group would ever pass notability guidelines on Wikipedia. If you enable the e-mail on your account I can send you a copy of the content and you can try creating a wiki at places like Wikia, but I don't think that it would be a good use of your time to continue trying to create an article at Wikipedia specifically. I don't mean this to sound harsh or unkind, just that Wikipedia is not the right place for this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 16:37, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Start again, read WP:Your first article for advice, and use WP:Articles for creation to guide you through the process. That way you can take time about building a page, with less risk that it will be deleted before you have finished. JohnCD (talk) 17:11, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

@Nuskyfdz:  Not done, there was nothing worth restoring, only "Friendeyz written in php, python, perl,c++ and javascript". Hi. I've requested for this page to be undeleted because I'm trying to get a reliable source. Since this person is a living person, I need a bit of help to get a source. Not sure how to get my sources check. Please help -Lucidity76 (talk) 09:03, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

@Lucidity76:  Not done. That was far too promotional to be acceptable, a blatant puff piece: "experienced, dynamic... accomplished... leading... ground breaking... " Anything like that is deleted from Wikipedia at sight. I will email you the text if you like, but it needs a complete rewrite. Read WP:PEACOCK and drop all the glowing adjectives. No opinions, just plain facts cited to reliable sources. WP:Your first article is helpful.
The sort of sources you need could be articles in newspapers or trade journals - see WP:Identifying reliable sources. They are needed for two reasons: the Wikipedia:Verifiability policy that "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source", and the Wikipedia:Notability test for inclusion, which looks for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Youtube, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought him significant enough to write substantial comment about? See also Wikipedia:Notability (summary). File:Alfred stone photo.jpg

Meets criterion 2 of {{PD-US-unpublished}}, as it was likely created in the 1860s. (Previous request at Wikipedia:Requests_for_undeletion/Archive_231#File:Alfred_stone_photo.jpg apparently abandoned. This is also ticket:2016041110023257.) -Storkk (talk) 08:51, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Ping Amatulic, who dealt with the previous request and knows the background. JohnCD (talk) 20:23, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
The previous request was never really resolved: Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion/Archive 231#File:Alfred stone photo.jpg
The final email in the OTRS ticket speculates "based on the age of the subject, it was taken no later than 1865. So even if the photographer was 20 years old and lived 100 years, then they would have died by 1945." So it has likely been 70 years since the death of the photographer.
But since it was created before 1896 and the death date is unknown, it can be restored.
 Done. ~Amatulić (talk) 23:15, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

EThanthi.com

No reasoning given. -Imagphoto (talk) 22:18, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Not done This was repeatedly deleted as WP:A7 and WP:G11, predominantly by Gogo Dodo. Offhand it looks like it's more of an issue of notability than promotional tones, although words like "fantabulous" should be avoided since they are considered to be a personal opinion or WP:BUZZWORDS that can seem promotional. Now Gogo has cautioned you against creating any new articles for ETanthi.com on Wikipedia, so any further attempts to get the content restored needs to go through him. Primal sympathy

the primal sympathy page was restored just a week or so again, and now it appears to have been maliciously deleted again? Please restore it, as it represents what has been the top Google search result for a subject of scholarly merit and discussion and the most reliable and detailed source of information on the subject matter (the meaning and interpretation of Wordsworth's primal sympathy. Thank you. This web page is used for my class room and others in our school district.) -210.148.47.161 (talk) 23:41, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

  • There doesn't seem to have been any malicious intent here and in general it's usually not a good idea to make comments of that nature because it can be seen as an WP:ADHOMINEM attack. Now as far as the page's usefulness goes, WP:ITSUSEFUL isn't really an argument that holds up on Wikipedia since you have to show where the term/concept has been covered in multiple independent and reliable sources that cover the term in specific. There were also concerns at the deletion discussion that the content constituted original research and offhand I can see where these concerns come from, as the content was entirely unsourced and seemed to have been written with a specific viewpoint or opinion. In any case, at this point you'd need to talk to Northamerica1000 about any future restoration. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 01:32, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Robin D.Gill

This was deleted by User:Explicit. My request for clarification was met with silence. I didn't know this was up for deletion, not have edited the page for years. Were the same criteria applied we would delete Harold S. Williams, a Japanologist known to few, and whose page is free composition (he was important nonetheless). Gill's works have been reviewed positively by Thomas H. Rohlich, Emeritus Professor of Japanese Language and Literature at Smith College: by Adam L Kern, (University of Wisconsin, Madison; by William J. Higginson (Gill is'one of the most original minds to take up the related subjects of haiku and cross-cultural communication.'; by Matthew Fraleigh (Brandeis University ) etc. He's cited in a recent book by *David G. Hebert; he was widely a reliably published in Japan by major book firms; the above reviews, esp. by Kern, note and explain how regrettable it is that one of the most erudite and original scholars of Japanese poetry hasn't drawn a wider public or obtained the recognition they think he deserves. -Nishidani (talk) 20:43, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

  • @Nishidani: It looks like this was deleted via WP:PROD so there didn't need to be a discussion akin to what you'd see at AfD. It's usually considered good form to notify people of any potential deletion, however they might have seen the semi-retired label on the page and just decided not to post anything. It'd still have been nice if the nominator had posted, but it's not entirely a requirement. (On a side note, Explicit is just the deleting admin and not the nominator.) As far as Explicit goes, it looks like they have not signed back on to Wikipedia since you posted the notice on their talk page since their last edit was posted on the 19th, the day before you requested clarification. In any case, since this was deleted via PROD it can be restored through here.
On a side note, notability guidelines for authors have become far more strict over the years and just publishing is no longer enough to establish notability on here - you'd have to show the places where Gill's work has been reviewed. The only catch is that the reviews have to have been published in places Wikipedia would consider reliable, such as academic journals and the like. Offhand it doesn't look like that'd be an issue, though. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 21:54, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

powwownow

the page has no promotional material, simply facts from third party sources that I could find. I am happy for the page to be edited and expanded, but I simply wanted to create a page for a company that is becoming increasingly prominent in the UK media for its conferencing services and was surprised it didn't have one yet since I've seen it in the press quite a few times. I don't appreciate all my hard work of finding relevant references and formatting in a neutral way just to get deleted without feedback. If you think areas sound promotional, my apologies, maybe I haven't paraphrased the references to the best neural ability, but happy to work on these sections as I am still researching about the company. I could not of yet find third party sources about the services the company offers and anything controversial that readers should know about. However, by posting the page live, I was hoping other editors would bring up a few points in the discussion that I can investigate. As the page stands, I fail to see how it's "Unambiguous advertising or promotion", the page simply outlines what third parties are talking about the company in factual form, acquisitions, company size, when it was founded, its impact in the industry. I agree it does need a section breaking down the conference services it offers, but I have yet to find references that contain feedback about the company's services, and of course if I see anything of the sort I will add it to the page. I am passionate about British startups and the impact they have to the global economy, so this is quite disheartening considering I read so much media about British startups which I think allows me to create unbiased, informed and factual wikipedia pages based on credible and relevant media sources. I would like the Powwownow wikipedia page re-instanced so I can carry on editing it as I see new references appear in online and offline media. -EJGlobal (talk) 08:45, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

For the sake of clarity, does "EJ Global" represent the name of a business? And are you being paid for your edits to pages about businesses? Edgeweyes (talk) 12:16, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
  • No, my background is in the media, I'm an individual who follows journalists that cover emerging British startups and I have thoroughly enjoyed consolidating coverage to form factual wikipedia pages about different companies and industries. I fully comply with Wikipedia guidelines and would not create or edit wikipedia pages for profit. I am still working on this wikipedia page and published it as a working progress as it was all the references I had gathered so far, but would love for editors to highlight areas that they would like to see expanded, to aid my investigation into the company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EJGlobal (talkcontribs) 12:40, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

Rafael Carbajal

I don't understand why this article was deleted. According to Wikipedia:Notability (sports) any player or manager who has played and managed in any Tier 1 International Match, as defined by FIFA, (including the Olympics) are notable. Isn't he notable due to the fact that he is currently coaching as a assistant coach at the senior international level (Tier 1 International Match) with Canada men's national soccer team.[1] Shotgun pete (talk) 07:48, 23 May 2016 (UTC) -Shotgun pete (talk) 19:48, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

@Shotgun pete: the manager may be automatically notable at that level, but it does not follow that an assistant coach is. However, he seems to have had a varied career: can you maybe find references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" so as to pass the WP:GNG? In any case, as this was deleted after WP:Articles for deletion/Rafael Carbajal, you would do best to make a draft article and check it out with the closing administrator or WP:Deletion review. Note: The page isn't deleted, therefore there's no reason to undelete it. Please follow the instructions on the deletion tag in order to contest (if a speedy deletion or prod/stickyprod) or argue against (if a deletion debate) deletion. You absolutely MUST find some sources to prove notability. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 19:09, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

retrieving WP:A7 deletion -Prisencolin (talk) 01:56, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Not done Prisencolin, this was deleted as an A7 and the admin who deleted it, DGG, is still active. You must ask him first. I know that several of us have mentioned this in the past, but when it comes to A7s you really, really need to ask the deleting admin first. We are not supposed to restore these here and this can be seen as you trying to go around the process, which has been pointed out to you several times. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:19, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
  • Sometimes, rarely, we can make exceptions if the admin is inactive or if we know the admin particularly well enough but you've requested enough restorations here to where you know the way that these requests are supposed to go and what can and can't be done here. Some of the pages you're requesting were deleted this month, so you really need to ask the deleting admins. If they say no, then DRV is really the only route to go. I'd imagine that most of these admins would likely restore the pages, but you need to ask them directly. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:26, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
I am not going to restore this one in its present form,. It claims significance on the basis that they "are particularly known for their success in FIFA tournaments." but there are no sources whatsoever beyond the bare assertion. It also lists several people as notable alumni, but not a single one of them have WP articles (which is the ordinary standard). In the absence of any sources, the assertion of significance is very unconvincing. I suggest you try again with a properly sourced article, preferably in Draft space. DGG ( talk ) 03:48, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
There seem to be a lot of, albeit Turkish-language, sources if you look up "Team Turquality" on google news--Prisencolin (talk) 22:28, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
Could you guys specifically add the fact that you can't restore an A7 here at the top the page. I keep forgetting/get lazy for whatever reason.--Prisencolin (talk) 22:28, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
It's already in the editnotice, in a big box that takes up a third of the screen even at 1080p. How much more specific do you need it to be than "Please do not request that articles deleted under speedy deletion criteria A7 or G11 be undeleted here. Requests for the undeletion of pages deleted under these criteria will not be accepted here." (all emphasis in the original)? —Cryptic 22:50, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
Well shucks, the edit notice is the one thing that I tend not to read. I'll just edit the page to mention of it, if only to save some other editors a few seconds of time.--Prisencolin (talk) 22:37, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Blue Jays–Rangers brawl

Please put deleted version in my user space -Jax 0677 (talk) 02:35, 24 May 2016 (UTC)

  • On my end it's mostly a procedure thing - there's a certain process you have to go through in order to get content restored when it's been deleted a certain way (AfD and A7). Going out of turn, especially on something that looks like it's going through another deletion discussion of sorts, can backfire in the long run, especially if the AfD or restoration could be seen as contentious. It's kind of a little bit of extra insurance so that people can't additionally argue that the restoration or userfication was improper. (And unfortunately I've seen people argue that on occasion.) We do not do "official" pages of any sort, and we need substantial coverage in third-party sources with editorial oversight - not mentions or name-drops. Wikipedia is an encyclopædia and thus is only as good as its worst source. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 21:21, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
You could politely ask the deleting admin @RHaworth: to turn it into a draft for you. Then you could improve it to an acceptable state to avoid a speedy deletion. The page did not contain a clear claim of importance. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:52, 26 May 2016 (UTC)

  • It would be a known "feature" to protect the system against excessive resource use. We also cannot delete pages that have too many revisions, eg the main page is known for that. Perhaps stewards can override the timeout, but in this case since it can be done in batches, we do not need to involve them. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 07:04, 29 May 2016 (UTC)
