- Courtesy link: Edappadi K. Palaniswami - I think this is the person referred to; I can't parse what the rest of this post means. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 14:04, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- This post seems like it was translated via an automated service like Google or BabelFish. There is a reason I do not trust automated translation for South or East Asian languages, and this post is as good an explanation as any why. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 00:38, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
Updating uploaded video
[edit]I just uploaded a video and after I discovered that my brother left the title card for the next segment in the video. Can I replace the video with a fixed copy, or do I have to remove the link from the Vesuvius page, delete the video, upload a new one, and replace the link? Don Wiss (talk) 13:15, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- If you go to the File description page of the upload, then under "File history" you will find an option: "Upload a new version". You can use that. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 13:44, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. An easy fix. Now to get some 1926 Greek dance segments from my brother... Don Wiss (talk) 13:53, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Missing Article
[edit]There was once a very detailed page on the Libertarian Party of West Virginia. It has been removed somewhat recently.
I was hoping to restore the original page if possible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Will Hyman (talk • contribs) 19:48, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Will Hyman: Taking a look at the page log, the article was deleted by Liz in April due to a proposed deletion that there was
no evidence of notability independent of the federal party
. You could try asking for a refund, but it would help if you have reliable sources that establishes its notability as Wikipedia defines it. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 20:07, 15 July 2022 (UTC) - Hello, Will Hyman. That redirected article did not have any references to reliable, independent sources that devote significant coverage to this political party at the state level. The two references were to a voter registration number database, which is not significant coverage, and to the party's own web page about Will Hyman, which is not an independent source. Accordingly, you appear to have a Conflict of interest which you should disclose, and should edit very cautiously. Under these circumstances, the redirect was correct. Cullen328 (talk) 20:10, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Our issue is actually that there was a lot of historical information that has been lost that I haven't seen anywhere else. I would like to copy and paste it into our LPedia page which the Libertarian Partys own "Wiki"
- I just joined wikipedia today to ask where it went. I have never edited or contributed to Wikipedia ever. 2603:6011:EF01:5000:AC37:87F4:CBE1:888E (talk) 20:15, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Is there a way to see this article so I can copy it for our records? Will Hyman (talk) 20:43, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Strange because the West Virginia Republican, Democrat and Mountain Parties have their own wiki pages and haven't been deleted. Will Hyman (talk) 20:45, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Will Hyman Wikipedia is not a voter guide and does not provide equal time for all points of view. Coverage of a topic depends on the coverage in independent reliable sources. Rightly or wrongly, it is likely that reliable sources give West Virginia Democrats and Republicans more coverage than West Virginia Libertarians. 331dot (talk) 20:47, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Do you represent or work for the West Virginia Libertarian Party? You may be required to comply with certain policies depending on your level of association. 331dot (talk) 20:49, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I am the chairman of the party. I am just trying to recover the data that was in the original article. If it can be restored, even better. Will Hyman (talk) 20:50, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Will Hyman, the articles about those three parties all include references to reliable, independent sources that devote significant coverage to those parties. The deleted/redirected article about your party did not. If you will agree to follow the legal attribution requirements described in Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content, I will email you the wikicode for that article. Reverting to a previous version
[edit]Hi there. I looked up someone recently who is deceased but who I knew fairly well. Recently someone has gone in to his list and made quite unkind edits, for example commenting on the person's hygiene and calling him a charlatan amongst other insults. I'm all for critique but not for meanness! Is there an easy way to put it back to its previous version? Many thanks. Emily 107.2.26.67 (talk) 20:32, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, that can easily be done. Either we can explain to you how to do it yourself (which may not be that easy for someone with no editing experience); or you can specify who the person is, either in public here, or by going to my user page and clicking "Email this user". Maproom (talk) 20:48, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. Go to the page in question and click the "View History" button above the top of the article. From there, locate the offending edit. If it's gone unfixed so far, it's probably at the top of the list. If there is just a single vandalism edit, press "Undo" on the edit and publish your changes. For multiple vandalism edits in a row, find the last good version and select it by clicking the date and time of the edit. Then, review the page to ensure it is the right version and press "Restore this version" at the top of the page. See Help:Reverting for more information.
