I've read the previous answers where you claim users cannot delete their own accounts. Sorry, but that statement is not true.

Legally, like any user, the law gives me the right to delete my own account, and the law is clear in that the website is not legally entitled to refrain from an account deletion requested by the own user.

I hereby revoke Wikipedia from any possible past, present or future use or storage of my personal data ('Habeas Data'), in particular i revoke Wikipedia any authorization to know, store, use, etc. my username or my email. (Laws like the GDPR are clear in that you cannot keep an account on without the consent of the user). If you have technical problems to do it, just solve them.

Just to let you know, people who create accounts at Wikipedia, just want to contribute, and some of us devote days or weeks of our valuable time (time we take from our own jobs and from our own salaries) to redact, collect sources, etc just to make an uninterested contribution, we do not want and cannot under any circumstance accept to be treated like dirt, disrespectfully, with critiques that are utterly destructive, demeaning, unfair, rude, offensive and clearly not intended to build anything but to destroy, harm and reassert your apparent 'position of power', I'm not going to waste my time in sterile discussions with stubborn, disrespectful editors, we only wanted to donate our time and genuinely contribute and that is simply not possible with any of you.

I don't want to have any further uncomfortable discussion with any of you.

I want my account deleted. Period.

Please tell me if you're willing to abide by the law and do it, or tell me if i have to resort to a lawyer to make you to.

I do not want to hear the same bla, bla you people you usually write in these cases: Just tell me 'yes' or 'no'. If you're not, I'm entitled to look for the help of an attorney.

FreshDirect logo (upload): criteria

At present FreshDirect lacks an image of their logo.

The logo can be downloaded from the Internet at much higher quality than you can get from scanning: [1]. Just upload it to Wikimedia Commons using c:Special:Upload and select "Logo with only simple text (wordmark)" for licensing. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 01:40, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

@Shamsaman: you have not yet submitted the draft for review. When you think it is ready for review, you submit it by clicking the button near the lower right of the big grey box at the bottom of the draft. However, if you submit it in its current form, it will be declined, because there are no references to reliable sources that establish notability of the subject. If fact, there are no references of any type. Please read WP:YFA to see what is needed. Addition to Jack Dempsey page

Today I posted a photograph of Jack Dempsey going on a hunting trip wit a number of family members in around 1924. It was removed. The photo is real. The names are all correct. What do I need to keep it posted? I'm 70 years old. Unfortunately, we cannot accept your word for this, because we have no mechanism to validate your identity or cross-check the validity of what you added. This is fundamental to the way Wikipedia works: we depend on publishers of reliable sources to do these checks, and we then use the material from those sources. Your best bet is to find a local historical society and contribute your information as an article to their journal. Once it is published, you may add it here. About the photo: Please modify the copyright description, as the photo is not your own work, since you were not the photographer. Instead, you inherited the photo and its copyright, so you are the legal copyright holder. Help! How to publish Wikipedia article in Sandbox.

Hello. I am a new to Wikipedia. I have already created and edited a new article to be added to Wikipedia. Wiki2802 There are no deadlines on Wikipedia, so what is the urgent need you have to 'publish' this? If you work for or have any association with this subject, you must review and comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID; the latter is a Terms of Use requirement if you are compensated in any manner(including an internship or other unpaid-in-money work).

You can submit your draft using Articles for Creation, but it will likely take longer than a week. In addition, I don't believe that it will be accepted, as your draft is not supported with multiple independent reliable sources that have significant coverage of this person, showing how they meet the definition of a notable academic. Wiki2802 As noted in the submission tag, "This may take 6 weeks or more, since drafts are reviewed in no specific order. There are 2,312 pending submissions waiting for review." I see you submitted a copy at Draft:Igor Grigorievich Chervanev. I suggest you blank User:Wiki2802/sandbox to avoid confusion between the pages. I have already edited parts of the page, What do I need to do to improve the page. Should I add sources? Please give me advice on what to remove and ideally what to add. I also want to make it very clear that my client is NOT related to the person depicted in the Wikipedia article. He barely knows him and he was interested by his many achievements in the geoecological field. My client is from the same geographical area as the person, that is why they share the same surname. Re https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorail_(British_Rail)

I tried to edit the page to include Glasgow in the lsit of stations as I traveeledon it on a couple of occassions. I think it would have been from Glasgow St Enoch rather than Glasgow Central to the south coast and to London. 6.38pm as I recall to various destinations. The cars were conveyed in covered vans and passengers coaches at the front of the train. There was a similar one from Waverley The Anglo Scottish Car Carrier emblazoned over the vans specially built and it ran to Holloway in North London. Hi Iain; I think this is regarding edits on Template:Motorail, which is the diagram of Motorail routes, am I right? For now I've just undone it; because it's a map, an addition to show Glasgow would need to show (and therefore be configured to show) the route of that train relative to the other routes, and it's not clear what that route would be from the article. (Since the article says the train was short-lived, I wonder if it should be reflected in the map at all.) YorkshireLad  ✿  ^(talk) 13:17, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

YorkshireLad & Iain, not really an RS, but [2] from 1961 shows an earlier Glasgow service than the 90s one in the article. It also didn't seem to last, being gone by the 1966 timetable [3]. Given it ran twice, might be worth including? ~~ Alex Noble/1-2/TRB 20:04, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Infobox bullet formatting

As to the infobox here, why is the first bullet in the location section not correctly rendered? How can that be fixed?--Hildeoc (talk) 14:33, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

@Hildeoc: Moxy has removed the bullets. Otherwise you could say:

*Europe
...

An asterisk must be at the start of a line in the output to make a bullet. Templates may place other content before parameter values on the same line. <nowiki /> is just used as a placeholder here. It doesn't output anything but ensures a newline before the asterisk. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:16, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

@Hildeoc:A single newline in wikitext is usually treated like a space and does not cause a line break in the output. Something in MediaWiki adds a html paragraph tag <p>...</p> in the produced html for the field but does not include the last line inside the tag. I don't know why. It may be unintentional. If you want a line break then write <br />. If you want a new paragraph then make an empty line.

I haven't seen this issue before and made a simplified example based on the format of the wikitext produced by the infobox. It makes wikitext similar to

<table><tr><td>
A
B
C</td></tr></table>

which produces:

A B C

If we add a newline before the table cell end </td> in

<table><tr><td>
A
B
C
</td></tr></table>

then it produces the more expected

A B C

where "C" is not left outside a paragraph in the html.

image of me--unauthorized and altered

Hi, I'm not a seasoned editor of wiki, so I am writing to see if someone can help me.

Someone posted a pic of me that is not authorized by me, and it doesn't resemble me, and it will lead to confusion. Is there anything that can be done? It looks like it has been altered without my permission--my hair is not orange, for instance.

Can you remove it? Or, can I? I don't know what to do or how to do it. Thanks!

It appears you already uploaded File:Image of Susan Schneider.jpg as User:Philosopher of Mind in 2015. Is that OK? We require a photo with a free license and that photo is allowed if you took it yourself. The photographer and not the subject usually has the rights. PrimeHunter (talk) 16:00, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

So those tags were added because you, or someone editing from your IP address, did edit the article, as noted on your contributions page; since you note above that you are the article's subject, Orangemike added the tags. I've restored them; please do not remove them again, and have a look at the plain and simple conflict of interest guide before editing the page again. Thanks. I'm really surprised by this conversation. Since when do experienced WP editors simply take inexperienced editors' words that they are who they say they are? and if the previous photo is "altered", then who is this: Susan Schneider, Susan Schneider or this: Susan Schneider? They seem more in keeping with the original image that was there. The current image looks like a selfie and seems placed there on purpose by the BLP to offer a more "flattering" look (no disrespect intended; but I thought WP was not a casting agency). The OP said her hair is not "orange"; and again "no disrespect", but it doesn't seem to be naturally blonde either - as it changes considerably if one image googles the name. --- I am feeling really disrespected by this last post. I don't need to be bashed for changing my hair color since I was a grad student some 20 years ago, or asking to remove a pic that seems stretched and discolored. A pic on wiki will inevitably land on every news story or flyer for the next 5 years. People will not even recognize me at events. Think of how this would feel if it was you. (Sometimes it is easy to battle through computers, but remember, there are people with feelings at the other end.) I don't need to be accused of loading a pic 5 years ago (I obviously don't have an account, or I'd use it:-) but I think it was from a reporter interviewed me at a cafe). And from what I just read, this is "outing someone" for editing, and that isn't allowed by the COI policy. (Of course, I'm appreciate the info about the COI policy, which I just read, and will bear this in mind.) But please understand that I couldn't even figure out how to reach out to email anyone on this thread. Perhaps someone will be kind enough to reach out, or consider fixing. I'm not sure what to do. I concur that discussions about hair color are inappropriate and rather sexist. Hi, I'm sorry if my tone was brusque, and I apologise. I should say, I don't think I've violated the WP:OUTING policy, if you're referring to me, because I didn't post any of your information: you posted that you were the subject of the article (Someone posted a pic of me), and I restored the notice that noted that someone from the IP address of someone claiming to be the subject of the article had edited the article. If you'd like to complain about that action, the noticeboard to post such a complaint for review by administrators is at WP:ANI.

I didn't get involved with the picture discussion, FWIW, though, for full disclosure, I did remove a comment that somebody - presumably you? - added on the picture at Wikimedia Commons asking for it not to be used, since it was in the wrong place (and also removed the legally necessary information about the licensing on the photo). Also the picture suggested by PrimeHunter and added by Maproom (the one you're happy with) is still on the article, and I don't think anyone has attempted to remove it. :-) YorkshireLad  ✿  ^(talk) 20:24, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

PS it's generally considered that posting on-wiki is better for transparency, but if you create an account, you'll see an "Email this user" option on the left-hand side of many users' userpages (which you get to by clicking on their username), including mine. I am shaking my head at the responses by someone claiming to be the NASA-Baruch Blumberg Chair at the Library of Congress and NASA, the director of the AI, Mind and Society ("AIMS") Group at the University of Connecticut, and a visiting member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton who worries they "will probably ... lose work" over the color of her hair. "A pic on wiki will inevitably land on every news story or flyer for the next 5 years." How do you know this? "People will not even recognize me at events." Wikipedia is not here for your personal or professional life. That's why BLPs have personal websites. There was absolutely no sexism or disrespect in my response; but a matter-of-fact statement in keeping with the original comment made by the OP. I'll leave the thread, as it is simply an opinion at this point of an authenticity claim. But I gravely think a gross mishandling has been made at the hands of a BLP request to have their image replaced for what I perceive to be vanity and not WP merit. But that is merely opinion. And I wasn't the one who started the article and I wasn't the editor in questio. The article has been there for about 5-8 years!!! It looks like its had a long history of editing and citations to known sources and I don't think a simple request to remove an altered pic should have triggered these bot boxes. Please remember to add a signature at the end of each message on discussion pages such as this. I notice also that you have changed the wording of some of your earlier messages in this thread. I've looked at the history of this. I have no particular interest in this person and I do not think I have ever seen a picture of her before. However I must say that I have not seen any orange hair. Comment: the OP's original request included the words "frankly, it is a bad picture and will probably cause me to lose work." Someone has subsequently removed those words. It is against Wikipedia policy to change the past history of a discussion by altering what you, or anyone else, has said, as it can make discussions hard to follow. If you have said something that you want to withdraw, you should strike through it with <s> ... </s> tags, to make it clear that you've withdrawn it, while leaving the course of the discussion clear. And no-one should alter what anyone else has said, as that would misrepresent their views. Maproom (talk) 09:11, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Some of the comments above are incredible. "Shaking [their] head" at the notion that a "NASA-Baruch Blumberg Chair" is concerned about losing work because of hair color! Schneider does some TV work (and TV likes good-looking female commentators -- we live in a sexist world), so it's completely possible that she could lose work if the photo is unrepresentative and bad. Maybe that's none of Wikipedia's business, but don't paint her as an impostor or a vain idiot for thinking about this. Her hair does not look nearly that brassy (kind of incredible that we do not have an article on this obvious topic) in any other photos I've seen. There seems to be an issue with the color saturation or lighting in the photo. I don't think it's been "altered"--though photographers sometimes like to boost saturation in an attempt to improve images, so it's possible that happened. Instead of belittling/berating the commentator, why are we not encouraging her to upload a better-quality selfie that is neither the weird-angle one nor the weird-saturation one? Updating an article and adding new citations throughout

When updating an article and adding new citations throughout, do all citations within the article need to be renumbered to keep them all in numerical order? Or can new citations, added along with updated material, simply carry the next numbers in the existing order? Thank you. @Mearch: If you are using any of our normal citation methods, the references will be numbered automatically, so there is no need to number them yourself. If you are using a non-standard technique that requires manual numbering, then please switch over to one of the standard the standard techniques so other editors will not be confused. You have created a draft, Draft:David A. Hood, but not submitted it for review. If you submit it in its present state, it is in my opinion unlikely to be accepted as an article, as it cites no reliable independent sources that establish that its subject is notable.   Maproom (talk) 17:18, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Sabotaging the O'Donovans

Hi, I am really concerned that an individual is editing information which is not correct and removing information relevant and correct to the information of the O'Donovan family. I am a direct member of the O'Donovans and I am trying to clarify information on it, its really distressing me and i feel i am been bullied. By service user Agricolae. I feel he should be blocked from editing this information.

I had a brief look at the article, and it looks like User:Agricolae is doing the right thing here, helping to clean up the article. By no means should he blocked, instead he should be thanked for his actions. As a member of the O'Donovan family yourself you have a conflict of interest and should not be editing the article at all. You can also engage on the article's Talk page. But let's be blunt here. The article was the kind of thing you get when someone writes a hagiography of their own family (and just to be clear, it was not written by the current complainant). It needed a better sense of proportion and more encyclopedic tone. In spite of all of the text that was there, it is really still Start class to low-C class and that will not improve if anyone who is not an O'Donovan is blocked from editing it. TO Donovan page was fine as it was before I edited it and other people edited it, Agricolae only came on for a short while and has not included the original settings were in which the article expressed the origins of the name. There were no previous problems in editing the item in the beginning. I would like to know where Agricolae has shown up from and why he intended to edit O Donovans and what his interests are in this field? Can someone explain to me simply, why family can not edit their families articles?

Musician notability question

I want to create a page for a musician who may or may not meet qualifications for notability based on his music alone. However, his music is part of a larger activist project for a very notable cause.

Probably not. Notability is neither inherited nor contagious. Thus, you may be the author of a notable book, but not be notable yourself; or your music might be used as the theme for a notable TV series; but again, that doesn't make you (or the song) notable. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:11, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

But notability by association is still notable to some. Is the larger activist project notable for inclusion? or is it already on WP? On a side note, have you read the guidelines: WP:NMG? Addition to Jack Dempsey page

Yesterday I added a photograph to the Jack Dempsey page with the following text. It was subsequently removed. Why? "This is a family photo from a trip to OxBow, Maine by world heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey around 1924. L to R, Doc Severson (a local I think), Jack Dempsey, Mary Hinds, Walter Hinds (hunting camp owner and entrepreneur), (taller) Joe Dempsey (Jack's brother), Jerry "The Greek" Luvadis (Dempsey's trainer), three brothers Ellie Currier, Almon Currier, and up on the wagon Frank Currier, my grandfather. The dog is "Pat." They visited the hunting camps of Almon which still operate today as Umcolcus Sporting Camps."
