Co-counselling

[edit]

Is there any way to tell you that the co-counselling page is incorrect? I have gotten reported for vandalizing. What I was doing was fixing untrue comments about RC, which I am in.

This unsigned question is by the now-blocked user Daddy is Right.   Maproom (talk) 07:57, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

TRADEMARK

[edit]

Greetings,

I own a registered trademark of a Wikipedia page & I would like to inquire about protecting the page. I have just joined the Wiki family and I am therefore not an administrator nor did I originally create this page.

Earl — Preceding unsigned comment added by Earlborgert (talkcontribs)

Earlborgert I'm afraid that we cannot protect a page for this reason. Please read WP:PROTECT. We do not protect a page because the owner of the trademark of what the page is discussing asks us to. --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 14:27, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And don't ask the same question in multiple locations. - X201 (talk) 14:29, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Earlborgert: You do not own the trademark of a Wikipedia page. You may own a trademark or servicemark of a term that is used as the title of a Wikipedia article, but that gives you no rights whatsoever with respect to the contents of a Wikipedia article. In general, use of a trademark or service mark by Wikipedia in this manner does not infringe the trademark or service mark, but if you feel otherwise, you are free to tell us and we can address your concerns. You are also free to threaten to take Wikipedia to court, but if you do you are then immediately prohibited from using or editing the Wikipedia site until you retract the legal threat or the case is resolved. Please see WP:LEGAL. -Arch dude (talk) 15:50, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"http" web address preventing citation from being added

[edit]

Hello! I am trying to add a citation to the Census Organization of India to the Sorde Village article. However, for understandable reasons, Wikipedia does not like the http address. Is there anyway to include he link or should I just revise the web page citation as if it were a paper source? Thank in advance for any help! AugusteBlanqui (talk) 14:57, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That site is blacklisted. All that advertising that makes up most of that page seems might unlikely for a legitimate government census report. Perhaps a better source is in order? Perhaps from http://censusindia.gov.in/? Not the same as www.census2011.co.in.
Trappist the monk (talk) 15:15, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Discussed at WP:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 265#census2011.co.in and in archive discuusions of the blacklist. --David Biddulph (talk) 15:17, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Subject validation.

can we write on local popular historical place, those are not on the wiki. thank you. injobpune. Ganesh. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Injobpune (talkcontribs) 15:08, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe. If it satisfies notability, then you most definitely can! --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 15:09, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you're asking whether you can write about your consultancy blog, the answer is no. If you're asking about if you can write about a populated historical city, then yes. – Thjarkur (talk) 20:06, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please publish on my article article name khan Bela

[edit]

Please publish my article name khan bela city

No. Please submit it to the AfC process. --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 18:30, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Your draft Draft:Khan Bela has not been submitted yet so will not be reviewed. Theroadislong (talk) 18:32, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Before you submit your draft for review, please add references to published reliable sources to satisfy verifiability. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:35, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the Wiki edit amount page in another website?

[edit]

 Done Hello, everyone.

I would just like to know why my edit count is on an external page and not a page inside of Wikipedia itself. I know this is a stupid question, but I would just like to know. Thanks! :D Nambaseking01 (talk) 18:43, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nambaseking01, You can actually view your edit count by going to your preferences MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 18:54, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see. Thanks for mentioning it! :DNambaseking01 (talk) 14:24, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fixing all-caps

[edit]

1st Supply Battalion has a lot of uppercase. Is there a way to fix this without manually retyping? MB 18:51, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The problematic text was added only today, so I have reverted the additions and pointed the editor towards MOS:CAPS. The material added was copied from an external website, but I'll leave someone else to ascertain whether the site concerned is PD. --David Biddulph (talk) 19:04, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Block my Talk page

[edit]

Since, as you told me, I can't delete my wikipedia account as I requested, and I am not planning to do the contributions anymore, would you "ban" the editor Theroadislong from my account and specifically from my Talk page. I don't want he followed me after deleting my article, and attacking me. It was not my expectation when I wanted to do my contributions to wikipedia. What is disappointment. And I don't want to have any discussion with this editor, or read his input about me, I am done. Please help me with it. Thank you, Toreeva (talk) 19:46, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You are free to respond with "User X, please don't write to me again here" on your talk page, users usually respect that request. But it's probably not necessary since there is little reason to contact users on their talk page if they are no longer active editors. – Thjarkur (talk) 20:03, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No it does not work, bec. I wrote that I don't want any discussion anymore, or Stop talking.. Does not work. Please do "ban" of that editor, not only from Talk page but also from my name, so I will not get any response in the future. Hope you understand my request. Regards,Toreeva (talk) 22:02, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Toreeva, Theroadislong has not edited your talk page since the 16th November. --ColinFine (talk) 22:50, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have not once attacked Toreeva or deleted her article? The article Natalia Toreeva has been deleted nine times, twice at WP:AFD none of the nominations were mine. The user does appear to have a fundamental miss-understanding of how Wikipedia works especially with regard to reliable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 23:05, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
This might be better off at the administrators' noticeboard if I'm not misunderstanding the request, if the user hasn't been previously respecting your requests. – John M Wolfson (talkcontribs) 23:21, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is indeed the wrong venue for this complaint, ANI is where you would need to go to seek a remedy like the one you are asking for. However, I looked at the messages Theroadislong left on your talkpage, and I see nothing that would be likely to be criticised, let alone sanctioned. Their notes to you about reliable sources were civil and accurate - neither IMDB, nor any language version of Wikipedia, is considered RS - as is made explicitly clear in our guidelines, which they gave you links to. All Theroadislong has done is give you pointers on how to improve your editing - this complaint seems to be without merit, and taking it to ANI would likely be futile. GirthSummit (blether) 23:32, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Since their request sounded more like "I'm not really interested in talking more about this" rather than "do not write to me again" I would probably not have picked upon it myself. But Toreeva, I think your request has been made clear now. Getting criticism on Wikipedia can sometimes feel way harsher than the sender ever intended, but we do often need to be receptive to constructive criticism. – Thjarkur (talk) 23:46, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Than you are NOT Help desk. You have to learn how to "hear" another person. I wrote the article and asked Help desk to help with editing, because English is my second lang. Instead Theroadislong and 2 other editors started cut the article from 7 p to 1 p, and than submitted for "deletion". How come not qualified editor who does not know Russian lang, Russian art of that time I described (1970-80th), so any citation was named as not reliable sources, can recommend for deletion? It is easier to delete than to show that the editor is not qualified for the editing of this article. Official docs and webs in Russian database - not reliable? Something wrong is behind of this rejection and without good faith. I submitted complain to DRN and the same editor Theroadislong deleted this input, and Talk page where you can see our dispute. Stop tell lies at least to yourself. I don't see the answer for my question, that's why I don't want to continue the discussion. I don't see the respect and see only waste of time. I am out of it. Thank you for your time.Toreeva (talk) 03:27, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. You are being disrespectful to volunteers who are trying to help you. The DRN case is at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Archive 182#Natalia Toreeva, where you attacked the DRN volunteer ("How "low" you can go? Not me. Where is the purpose in your life, God has given you? Where is your integrity? You reached your destination. Have a peace in your decision") Stop attacking other editors. Stop now. If you don't stop it is very likely that you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Guy Macon (talk) 04:13, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If it helps I am perfectly happy to stop editing Toreeva's talk page, but I suspect that what she actually wants is for me to stop editing any article that involves her too, such as her unsourced self promotion at Soviet Nonconformist Art. Theroadislong (talk) 11:16, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Making edits

[edit]

Good afternoon, I recently attempted to update Wiki's page with research that has been done in the City of Newberry to correct the history about the Newberry Six. I serve as the Mayor in Newberry, and we recently erected an historical marker to memorialize the Newberry Six. My edits were rejected. Can you help me understand why? And, can you help me correct the errors and insensitivities that currently exist on the page?

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.104.190.122 (talkcontribs)

Please read WP:COI. Alongside that, I strongly encourage you to make an account if you wish to make edits like this. --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 20:59, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A few of your edits appear good. I'll try and work them into the page for you. MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 21:01, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The diff shows the specific reason. You would better to find reliable sources for the novel claims that you made. Ruslik_Zero 21:05, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For information, this is about Newberry, Florida, US. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 21:26, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As you say, you have done the research. But Wikipedia does not publish original research: see WP:OR. We only accept information that has already been published in a reliable source: see WP:RS. If your research found facts that have already been published in such sources, then please provide those sources so we can incorporate those facts. You are in an unusual situation, because your local newspaper may be interested enough in your research to publish it, and that may suffice. I do not usually recommend this course of action, but it will probably work here. -Arch dude (talk) 02:42, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Photo on the Wikipedia for Manuel Pérez Treviño is not correct.

[edit]

The image that is currently being used for Manuel Perez Trevino, the Mexican General, is incorrect. I am his great grand daughter and have multiple documents with proof that the image is a false representation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marianapt3 (talkcontribs) 21:25, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If the image is not of him, you can remove it and leave a message on the article's talk page. – Thjarkur (talk) 22:05, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I did a Google image search, and it does look like this is not him. There's a resemblance, but it just doesn't look like the same person as in the other results. I'm therefore going to remove the image to the talk page for further discussion. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:11, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
