User:Marcos FTO

@Marcos FTO: This user is back to genre warring, just giving you a poke. Thanx, - FlightTime Phone (open channel) 17:43, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

I removed this post cuz I thought they might start discussing the changes and they did start one, but then just went back to reverting. Please have a look and see what you think. Thanks, - FlightTime Phone (open channel) 18:15, 22 October 2018 (UTC)
They seem to be discussing now. Widr (talk) 18:47, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Hey, Widr. This I.P. address is continually vandalizing Paloma Faith by removing content. Could you block User:82.153.21.31? Cheers! MissAriArt (talk) 10:18, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

@MissAriArt: It appears to me to be a wp:content dispute. Vandalism is not obvious to me. Jim1138 (talk) 10:20, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
@Jim1138: This user still needs to be blocked though. MissAriArt (talk) 10:22, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Block request

I have noticed that you removed the block request of Whydoyoucare as stale (blocked and unblocked). But that user needs to be blocked as an obvious VOA and also the username does not match the username policy. So please block Whydoyoucare as the block reason {{uw-vaublock}}. Thank you. 122.162.159.123 (talk) 15:48, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

There is no need to block them now, because they haven't edited since last year. Such reports do not belong to AIV, that's only meant for ongoing vandalism/disruption. Widr (talk) 15:54, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

IP

Hey, Widr. How is it going? You have recently blocked IP 49.181.205.53 for 72 hours. Can it be extended to indefilently or something? He has been pursuing me, making personal attacks and claims he won't stop. I already had my fair share of trolls, i don't need another one (even though i'm famous for my patience with them). Can you figure this out? Thank you. Coltsfan (talk) 12:08, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

IPs are almost never blocked indefinitely, but if they continue after the current block expires, I'll give them a considerably longer time-out. Widr (talk) 12:25, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
Well, it didn't take long. And it's going to be continuos. I personally don't care. Been fighting trolls and vandals for a long time. But wish there were better ways to fight these kind of trolling. Anyway, thanks for everything! Coltsfan (talk) 13:20, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey Widr. This user that you blocked has come back in the form of a new account. Any chance of another block? Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 18:34, 6 November 2018 (UTC)

85.92.164.211

You wrote "Likely a school based on behavioral evidence"; however a WHOIS lookup reports the IP as being a domestic address for Talk Straight. A school or library IP in that area would have a .gov.uk or .sch.uk domain. Can you reduce the block to a few hours? A year seems complete overkill. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:43, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

Nothing but vandalism since January 2017. Reducing the length would make very little sense. Widr (talk) 16:57, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
That's a little disingenuous. The IP has only 20 edits, spread apart over a long time period. The only times that have required a block are on 25 September (worth 12 hours), and today (worth 24). I recall more than a few times while out and about over the summer looking at WP logged out on my phone (O2 4G) and noticing the IP had been blocked. Remember that WP:IPBLENGTH says "Blocks should be based on the protection of Wikipedia rather than the punishment of offenders. Most IP addresses should not be blocked more than a few hours, since the malicious user will probably move on by the time the block expires" Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:07, 7 November 2018 (UTC)

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Widr. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

I just want to let you know that you redirected your own user page to your talk page. User pages shouldn't be redirects! Notingnothing111 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 04:16, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

@Notingnothing111: User talk pages aren't supposed to redirect anywhere (in general) but there's not really anything saying that user pages cannot redirect to that user's talk page. There's plenty of users who do that. Ian.thomson (talk) 04:25, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey! I am just recommending it. I don't mean that must be true. Notingnothing111 (talk) 04:28, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Lots of users just have redirects to their talkpages from their userpages - there's nothing at all wrong with that. Acroterion (talk) 04:29, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

I am just saying that my user page does not redirect to my talk page. This does not have anything to do about it. Notingnothing111 (talk) 04:33, 20 November 2018 (UTC) OK, I agree, lots of users have their user pages redirect to their talk page. Notingnothing111 (talk) 04:32, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

I recommend that you stop cluttering Widr's talkpage with your views on the proper management of a userpage. Acroterion (talk) 04:35, 20 November 2018 (UTC)

Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth

Thanks for banning the disruptive IP editor. I already reverted its edits three times at Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth today, which falls under WP:3RR. However, since he was banned for his behavior, would WP:3RRNO (criterion #3) be justifiable to make another revert, which would be my fourth revert in that page? – Sabbatino (talk) 15:11, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

*.238 and *.241 are probably the same guy

Per a common interest in the Kingdom of Hungary (1920–1946), and looking at the rangecontribs of the /24 I believe these two IPs are the same person. You just blocked the 241 for three months. Is it reasonable for one of us to go ahead and block the 238 for the same amount of time? Or do a /24 rangeblock? There is a closed SPI case at WP:Sockpuppet investigations/123.124.233.241/Archive which is an attempt to document the general behavior, though no firm conclusion was reached as to how many IPs are involved. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 18:01, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

@EdJohnston: Sure, go ahead. I'm a bit on/off at the moment, but both of those options are fine with me. Widr (talk) 18:19, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Inappropriate usernames

Thanks for blocking those two inappropriate usernames. However, it looks like you forgot to actually give a block reason and notify the users (not sure why you removed email and talk page immediately, etiher). — Matthew Wong (at PMA), 16:17, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Talk page watcher here - they are such blatant username vios that no reason need be given, and there is approaching zero probability of them having any good-faith need for email or talk page access. DuncanHill (talk) 16:21, 30 November 2018 (UTC)
All blocks need to have a reason. I think that’s admin policy. — Matthew Wong (at PMA), 16:22, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Offensive edit summary

Hi. I just noticed that you are able to change the visibility of an edit summary. I am wondering whether you can do something about the edit summary for Japanese holdout timestamped 2018-11-28T21:27:24. The edit is fine but the edit summary uses a racist term. -- Roger Hui (talk) 18:54, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Hey Widr,

Could you take action on this user? They are a sock of a user I reported earlier (which you blocked). -- 1989 (talk) 22:21, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Since the disruption is not current (these IPs and the account haven't edited since yesterday), I'd rather ler the SPI folks handle it as they see fit. Widr (talk) 22:40, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

LTA?

You blocked this one as an LTA. I don't doubt it, but I'd appreciate it if you could tell me which one; that way I can block on sight without hesitation next time (I was checking the contribution history when you pulled the trigger). Vanamonde (talk) 22:45, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Well, if you look at their contributions, you really should not hesitate at all. There are so many of these around; I don't know which one this is, nor do i really care. It doesn't matter at all. Just block and move on. Widr (talk) 22:50, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
It's possible you misunderstand; you had already blocked by the time I had clicked on their contributions page; Some LTAs, however, have a pattern well-known enough that they can be identified by a single edit, and blocked that much faster. Also, without knowing who this is, I would block as a NOTHERE account, which is good enough for the moment but might be trickier to someone trying to examine a pattern of behavior later. Hence my question. Best, Vanamonde (talk) 23:35, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
FYI, this one is JarlaxleArtemis. Don't be surprised if you see a bunch of threats of violence being thrown around next. -- zzuuzz (talk) 23:45, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, zzuuzz. Vanamonde (talk) 23:53, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for blocking 178.108.132.32. Would you revdel the edit summary for their last edit? Thanks! Dorsetonian (talk) 20:39, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

That's just run-of-the-mill nonsense. No point to revdel. Widr (talk) 20:48, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

You may wish to revoke talk page access.--Cahk (talk) 09:37, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Your conclusion that this edit was vandalism may have been an overreaction. I have posted to the user's talk page. You might reconsider the ban. Spike-from-NH (talk) 23:16, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

The block was mostly based on the edits caught by the edit filter. Widr (talk) 06:57, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
I don't see the interactions with the edit filter; only the edits to Roller derby that you undid, one inept edit in userspace, and a fourth that might have been an attempt to complain about the edit filter. It doesn't strike me as malicious. If you see other actions that justified the block, then no reply needed. Spike-from-NH (talk) 00:33, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

Why my IP is blocked for Long Term abuse?

Hello! I am a little bit concerned about my IP range (110.54.128.0/17) But i'm not that user who abuses it. I'm currently using an registered account. And for example, I can't create a new account if i lost my Wikipedia account password. Is there a possible to unblock it? Thanks in Advance. VictorTorres2002 (talk) 13:00, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

Message of Apology: Overseas-Animation Edition

Okay, this is the re-edited version of my apology message.

Widr, I'm sorry that I have threatened to have personal attacks on all Wikipedia users including NinjaRobotPirate, Donner60, and Binksternet over the case of unsourced contents on Universal Animation Studios The Land Before Time: Journey of the Brave (2016) that I have implanted in during our last Halloween season. I know that this just was an American animated film, but while the pre-production and post-production processes were based in our country, animation were done overseas at BV Animation Studio, Brilliant Animation Studios, and Tycoon Animation. That's what I've seen from the ending credits. Meanwhile, despite being produced at Don Bluth's studios in California and Ireland, some other work on feature films such as Rock-a-Doodle (1990, 1991/92), A Troll in Central Park (1992, 1993/94) and Hans Christian Andersen's Thumbelina (1992/93, 1994) were also done at several other animation companies, like A. Film Production in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I don't meant to make my attempt to murder you guys. I just badly wanted to make you understand about the animation studios, the animation departments of every film and television company, and their rights to farm out their work to Japan, Korea (South Korea and North Korea), the Philippines, and Taiwan... Even for their joint ventures. But, this three-month or four-month block evasion that you put me under has left me greatly more severely hurt than you. I can't stand being blocked by NOT just you, but any other users on Wikipedia any more further or longer. I JUST CAN'T. After all, animation work on direct-to-video films and the TV series from The Land Before Time franchise were almost entirely made at AKOM, then Wang Film Productions and Toon City Animation. Along with them, as well as Rankin/Bass Productions' "Animagic" (stop motion) and hand-drawn projects, all other western (notably North American, European and Australian) companies have outsourced animation to Asian countries, rather than producing animation in-house in their own countries. Why don't you guys care how about I feel about this? And on top of all this unbeatable concern... Why torment me? All this mental cruelty and unfair... that's all I have ever suffered. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.224.57.136 (talk) 19:58, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Merry Merry

Happy Christmas!
Hello Widr,
Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that

Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"

My thanks to you for your efforts to keep the 'pedia readable in case the firemen chose one of our articles :-) Best wishes to you and yours and happy editing in 2019. MarnetteD|Talk 23:00, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Just out of curiosity, did you actually evaluate the edits from that range, or did you just say "oh, this has been blocked before so lets block it again"? Looking at just the past 50 edits, your "schoolblock" is blocking people from the Miami-Dade County Public Library System and Florida SouthWestern State College, and some of it (even from the K-12 schools) is not vandalism.
