I just got started editing and I get blocked automatically just because I can't use the suffix "-bot"? Where is that rule? How many rules does Wikipedia have to make up to justify blocking someone from editing when all we want to do is edit? VyveBot1 (talk) 14:59, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Non-free content use in Draft:Wild Wild West League

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically Draft:Wild Wild West League, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:39, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi VyveGuy1. Non-free files like File:WWWL Logo 2022 Version 2.png are only permitted to be used in the article namespace per Wikipedia's non-free content use criterion #9. This is why this file is being removed from Draft:Wild Wild West League per WP:DRAFTS#Preparing drafts and will continue to be removed each time you readd it to the draft. Edit summaries were left each time the file was removed, but perhaps you didn't notice them. So, I'm posting this message here to try and further clarify things. If you're worried that the file will be deleted because it's not being used, readding the file to the draft won't change things because that's not considered a valid non-free use. For reference, files that are deleted aren't gone forever, but rather are only hidden from public view. So, even if this file is deleted as "orphaned non-free use", it will still be on Wikipedia's servers and can be restored at a later date per WP:REFUND once a valid non-free use is found for it. So, if the draft you're currently working on is someday accepted as an article, you can request the this file be restored so that you can add it to the article. Please don't continue to readd this file to the draft because doing so is eventually going to lead to a Wikipedia administrator getting involved. Once that happens, it's possible that the administrator will issue a more formal warning about this or even maybe block your account for editing for some period of time. Neither of those things will happen if you stop readding this file to that draft. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:49, 25 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Portland Rosebuds (WWWL) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Portland Rosebuds (WWWL), is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. There are large sections which are wholly uncited. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask on my talk page. When you have the required sourcing (and every assertion needs a source), and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Or feel free to ping me to take another look.Onel5969 TT me 13:12, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Which Albany Firebirds to use?

[edit]

There is going to be some confusion as to which page to use for the new Albany Firebirds Arena Football League team. There are two separate pages, one for the original team last known as the Indiana Firebirds, one for the af2 team rebranded the Albany Firebirds (af2) and the most recent team which was the National Arena League's version of the Albany Empire (NAL), which is rumored to be the franchise to be rebranded as the new Firebirds. Which one will be used? Or can they all be consolidated? VyveGuy1 (talk) 17:44, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:New York Jets 2024.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:New York Jets 2024.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:New York Jets 2024.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:54, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Arena Bowl XXXIII.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 03:11, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
