Chemistry welcome

Hi Unbinilium-322 Dibromide. I have seen you around in the last couple of days, so I will say hello. Thanks for your addition to Disodium helide. I hope this is not a case of CITOGENESIS, as most writers called it by a formula Na2He. You may wish to sign up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Chemicals. Help me!

Please help me with finding an orbit image of the orbit of the asteroid 2019 BE5. I have found some, but they aren't free. -322UbnBr2 (Talk | Contributions | Actions) 05:01, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Hello! In some cases, non-free images may be permitted if their use can be justified. The exact guidelines detailing when a non-free image may be uploaded and used are located here. Keep in mind that they all must be met, as this is a policy with legal implications and any one of the criteria not being met will at best result in speedy deletion of the file(s) in question.
In this specific case, though, it might even be better to not use an image at all for now. I did a quick search myself and can't find anything that has enough contextual significance (no up-close or detailed images), i.e. its omission is not detrimental to understanding of the topic. (Also, many articles about astronomical objects do not have images for similar reasons.)
I hope this answers your question. If you have any other questions, feel free to ping me or leave a message on my talk page. ComplexRational (talk) 14:08, 17 November 2020 (UTC)

Draft/Temp Pages

Are you allowed to make a /Draft or /Temp subpage on a page for major edits? -322UbnBr2 (Talk | Contributions | Actions) 05:14, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

In general, it would cause less trouble if you kept any additional subpages in your own userspace. You can refer to these userspace workpages on the talk page of the article so others can see your work without having all the details spill out on the talk page. Just remember to follow the instructions at WP:COPYWITHIN. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:36, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

Practicing with templates

Where can I practice using templates that notify administrators without notifying them? -322UbnBr2 (Talk | Contributions | Actions) 00:17, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

The 'notifications' are almost always a matter of enrolling a page in a category that is watched. You could make your own fake category, unwatched except by you, to enroll the pages in to see if your test templates are doing what's needed. But I confess this seems like a detail you should have already known if you are contemplating playing around with such templates. Perhaps if you explained your intentions a little more clearly, someone could give you better advice. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 06:20, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

An article you recently created, California State Route 111 Business (Palm Springs), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ... discospinster talk 21:43, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

SPSs

Please see WP:SPS. The author of California Highways published that website himself. That means the site is self-published. It has nothing to do with the editor who adds a footnote to the website to an article. Imzadi 1979  02:25, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

@Imzadi1979:I don't understand. Does it mean that it wasn't a reviewer or someone else who published it? -322UbnBr2 (Talk | Contributions | Actions) 03:01, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
Daniel P. Faigin is both the author and publisher of that website. He did not have submit his work for review by another person. Since he's not an expert in the history of highways, we aren't supposed to use that site as a source. That's why I've tagged the source as a SPS. Imzadi 1979  03:53, 14 February 2021 (UTC)
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:California State Route 111 Business (Palm Springs). Thanks! Imzadi 1979  07:11, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Rollback granted

Hi Unbinilium-322 Dibromide. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 2021-03-21. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! — Newslinger talk 20:44, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi Unbinilium-322 Dibromide, let's do a one-month trial. Your counter-vandalism work generally looks fine, although there was a mistake in Special:Diff/1003047259 – although you reverted an edit that removed content, that content was inappropriate and should have been removed. Please practice counter-vandalism with rollback over the next month and take care not to rollback edits in violation of WP:ROLLBACKUSE. When the permission is about to expire, please submit another request here to have it instated permanently. Keep up the good work. — Newslinger talk 20:44, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

Thanksgiving and Easter detection

How can you make a page transclude on another page only Thanksgiving or Easter? For example, to make a particular page transcluded on April Fools you would type this:

{{#switch:{{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}}
|1 April = {{Page to be transcluded on April Fools}}
|#default = {{Normal page}}
}}

How would you do it for Easter, Thanksgiving, or any other day that is not on the same day each year? Thanks. -322UbnBr2 (Talk | Contributions | Actions) 01:58, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

I'm not aware of a mechanism built into the Wikipedia software that will allow you to do this automatically. A similar issue came up once regarding Manhattanhenge. The approach I would take is to build a two- or three- year switch statement with the dates you want built in, then remind yourself to update it from time to time. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:59, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
You can try using {{Calendar date}} for this. In particular:
  • {{#ifeq: {{Calendar date|holiday=Thanksgiving|year={{CURRENTYEAR}}|df=iso}} | {{#time:Y-m-d}} | It's Thanksgiving | It's not Thanksgiving}} → It's not Thanksgiving
  • {{#ifeq: {{Calendar date|holiday=Easter|year={{CURRENTYEAR}}|df=iso}} | {{#time:Y-m-d}} | It's Easter | It's not Easter}} → It's not Easter
