ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bakarkhani nationalism

[edit]

In September and October 2021 there was extensive edit warring and talk page discussion about whether to describe Bakarkhani as Bangladeshi. Those in favor of doing so were unable to produce high quality scholarly sources to support their position, so no single modern national cuisine is mentioned in the lead or infobox, and the body makes clear that the dish is popular in multiple countries. If you claim it exclusively for Bangladesh in the lead, you're likely to set off another exhausting round of finger pointing, blocking, and page protection. I strongly advise discussing any such change on the talk page first, where you'll need impeccable sources. --Worldbruce (talk) 14:50, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to MRT Line 7, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. HiwilmsTalk 09:16, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Concern

[edit]

Considering consistency of title, I think the pages Northern Route, MRT Line 5 (Dhaka Metro) and Southern Route, MRT Line 5 (Dhaka Metro) should be renamed as "MRT Line 5 (Northern route)" and "MRT Line 5 (Southern route)". The current names are too long. Also, we don't need to name them distinctively or unambiguously because there are no pages other than three pages of Dhaka Metro named MRT Line 5. Only Bangladesh have MRT Line 5 so we don't need to be specific here. Mentioning the route in the title is enough. Mehedi Abedin 02:47, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A concern

[edit]

As like many other metro related articles, extension part should be under history section because extension of a line is actually historical thing, not technical or others. That's why I restored the previous version in MRT Line 6 (Dhaka Metro). It will beneficial to carefully examine before breaking any section into many parts because also that will make the article longer. There is a possibility that many upcoming information will extend the article and many new sections will be added to the article. Mehedi Abedin 04:55, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Injecting unsourced content into sourced content

[edit]

Thank you for your interest in improving Bangladesh-related Wikipedia articles. When one inserts content in the middle of existing sourced content without adding a source or changing the source, one is avowing that the existing source supports it. In several edits beginning with this one you added content to Dhaka that is not supported by the sources. Siddiqui et al. 2010 pages 6 and 12 does not say that:

Nor does Himal Southasian [1] say:

  • Segunbagicha sprang up after 1962 on formerly barren or agrarian ground

Adding content in this manner is deceptive. It damages readers' trust that Wikipedia accurately reflects the sources it cites. Because you didn't provide a reliable source, your additions been removed. If you'd like to include a citation and re-add the material, please do so. -- Worldbruce (talk) 20:30, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Ward No. 20 (Dhaka South City Corporation), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Information icon Hello, I'm 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:5D74:4C06:438E:102E. I noticed that you recently removed all content from a page. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Uss157. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Motijheel, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. In particular, it seems odd that the first citation of the article you wrote contains lots of criticism of Motijheel, but none of this ended up included in the article you wrote. signed, Rosguill talk 15:01, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

May 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into MRT Line 5. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. In this case, as retitling the page was obviously correct, I've gone ahead and performed the move. signed, Rosguill talk 18:18, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Opsonin Pharma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Opsonin Pharma. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Deletion discussion about Kamalapur (neighbourhood)

[edit]

Hello Uss157, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Kamalapur (neighbourhood), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kamalapur (neighbourhood).

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|North8000}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
